Hey Mark, really enjoy watching you catch and cook different species of fish. I’m Japanese/American and a hard core fisherman. Been fishing for about 70 years now, I’m 75, lol 😂. I’m also retired military and so I fished in many places in the world. I taught my wife(she’s Filipina)and my four children how to fish… and now they’re avid fishermen as well. My wife and I are currently at Lake Havasu, pursuing the giant Redear Sunfish here. Mark, can you believe the world record sunfish here weighed 6 lbs 3 oz. Look it up on TH-cam and you’ll be amazed and shocked, really!!! Someday you should make a trip out here to Lake Havasu, Arizona and catch this amazing fish 🐠🎣. Itsuka issho ni yarimashou!!! Dan Suzuki, Retired SMSgt USAF and Vietnam Veteran 👍👍

sometimes cat fish just sit with the bait in their mouth and youll never know theyre on the line. its not only the chicken liver that increased the odds, but they hit way more from the bank at night or real early

I caught many catfish as a kid fishing with my father & little brother. We'd bring a stringer of catfish home and when cleaning them would nail their heads to a board and pull the skin off with a pair of pliers. Nice work Mark! I grew up in Oklahoma, and we love catfish. Blue and Channel are for sure my favorite- I already knew you were gonna love the nice white, mild flavor of the Blue cat fillets. Channel cats usually have spots, especially lil ones, at medium size they can be a bit confusing(males during the spawn darken) but a Channel is huge at 30lbs and Blues pass 100lbs. I only have Channels and Bullhead here so no confusion... wish Flatheads lived in the Great Lakes!! So lucky to get your set-up back!

Really nice fish! Bigger than any I've ever caught (my son did catch a really large bullhead a month or so ago, the biggest I've ever seen, probably a foot and a half long). Nice of you to give a treat to those poor hungry cats that gravitated to your house. Cats have a sixth sense about where to go when they are dumped off and abandoned by @#$%#$@$% people. We've had more than I can count come over to our house. When a starving cat is scratching at the window to be let in when it's 3AM in the middle of a below-zero Michigan winter, what are ya gonna do? (Here, we just open it a crack and the kitty comes running in, searching like mad for the catfood bowl!)
I have no doubt that our inside cats somehow put the word out to the strays telling them to hang around until they can get inside!
So, I'm "the crazy old cat man" -- can't hunt anymore due to my health swirling the proverbial drain, do fish as often as I can, forage wild vegetables, berries, nuts, as much as I can (not nearly as much as I used to be able to), and still dream of starting a small gourmet mushroom growing operation (there are varieties SO delicious, but you cannot buy them in stores, at least not in this country -- the "Wood Blewit" for example).
    Oh, well.
I'm in the same age range as Daniel Suzuki, but didn't go to Vietnam. During the height of that war, I was called in for my pre-induction physical -- and sent home in the middle of the day. If I'd realized how much _worse_ my health would get over the years, I'd have valued more while I could. The lowest point was about 35 years ago, when a doped driver rammed my subcompact with her Olds 98 doing 45MPH while I was stopped behind another car at an intersection.
I was due for _major_ spinal surgery this spring (my 4th spinal surgery, and the worst -- six hours, four titanium rods, with clamps, because the discs have all eroded away, causing _huge_ Scoliosis -- spine looks like a snake. Ugh. But, a heart attack, covid (for second time!), bacterial pneumonia with sepsis, then bronchitis... so much for this summer's surgery and recovery.
Enough griping from me. I envy you for the fish you've got in your rivers! Keep on fishing!

Reeling in that line off your other pole and getting your rod and reel back while also getting the fish that took your pole is priceless! I would never get that lucky on the Mississippi River! Great video glad you caught a nice one. whenever you lean a rod up against something or a rod holder. Only have a third or 1/4 of the rod over the top. You’ll make it a lot harder for the fish to pull it into the water. It’s all about the angles. However with that said if a big enough fish was probably still be able to do it
