I live in Australia and the carp is absolutely despised for it being a noxious pest, but ppl refuse to eat them. I have a bunch or recipes now that I find make them taste delicious. I appreciate you making videos about less desirable fish as it’s mostly just ppls perception and not the fish itself.

I am a carp fisherman... Always chum the water with bread or/and corn before u even start fishing for carp... Then cast out wen u see them starting to feed
.. you'll see tail wagging n bubbles where their feeding... Cast at least 8 feet from where their feeding because carps easily get spooked and they'll eventually come feed where u casting to... And last but not least make sure the hook is hidden real good they get spooked if they see or feel a hook at all... These fish are really smart and hard to fish but fun...

On eggplant it's best to slice it into rounds, salt it well and place between paper towels and a weight on top to draw out the biter moisture inside. After around a half hour take them and rinse off the salt. Dry well then you can either just fry them as they are or dredge them in seasoned flour and fry. Done right. Eggplant is very delicious. Also the eggplant that is the same thickness from top to bottom are the male eggplant. The ones that are more bulbus looking are the females. Female eggplant have more seeds and are usually more bitter than the male eggplant.

@@Jeremy_936 I agree. I've fried eggplant many times, but like David said you absolutely MUST draw out some of the moisture. I now prefer to season with a little salt/pepper/cajun shake, some cheese and bake in the oven. Marinara sauce is certainly a nice twist.

I live in Aus, catching carp is super easy BTW. But you must really make sure your rod is secure, I don't know if you caught carp before, but they pull incredibly hard. Of all the fish I have caught in Australia, the carp pulls the hardest, so not only do you have to make sure your rod is secure, make sure your drag is set so it can pull line out when it's pulling really hard, otherwise the carp will break your line or your rod. I suggest using sweet corn also, this bait works the best for carp, they are attracted to it like iron to a magnet. If there are carp at a location, you should be able to see them in the water, they commonly swim near the surface and make large splash noises. And so you should make sure there are truly carp in a spot before bothering to try to spend your time catching them, since obviously in some locations there won't be carp, or maybe other people have fished the spot out, since the spot you were in had other people there. The best fishing is always done where people don't commonly go fishing, because the fish population have built up and don't have other fishermen taking them.
When I cut into the carp I catch, the meat colour is interesting, it's a slight orange colour, it reminds me of the salmon in the supermarket that looks orange. The carp meat has a good amount of fat in it. Most other fish species I cut into, the meat is a very faint blue/green colour, which then turns to pure white after cooking, this appears to be the common meat colour of low fat fish species, these species lacking fat will usually need a deep frying cooking method to reintroduce some fat, at which point they are lovely eating. Where as the more naturally fatty carp flesh can literally be cooked straight up in a pan with some salt and it's great, since it's higher fat content essentially is seasoning it naturally.
You are lucky BTW that you have all these species you can catch. I catch so many carp that I don't think it's special, I would enjoy having more species to catch like these Sunfish you catch. I enjoy the Redfin perch though, at least that was introduced and it's a common fish here now in the rivers, it's a great one that probably tastes similar to those Sunfish, but it's larger of course than those. They don't have Redfin in the USA, however you probably have a dozen fish species in your state to catch from, so you don't need the Redfin.
Before the introduction of Redfin, Carp and Trout, Australia naturally doesn't have many fish species to choose from in freshwater, only the Murray Cod, Silver Perch, Golden Perch, One catfish, Trout cod, blackfish and that's nearly it. The only silver lining to this, is that at least the Golden perch is one hell of an amazing eating fish.

Redear sunfish, which we called shellcrackers, were a big prize where I grew up in PA, probably just because they were kind of rare and could get bigger than bluegills. We thought they were the best eating fish that you could catch. Maybe that was just because we were kids and had given shellcrackers extra status just because we had to work hard to catch them.

Those red ears are good eating. I usually take the heads off (I save them for catfish bait) and smoke them or fry them. I'll also add this bit of advice, if you are fishing for carp, the most important piece of gear you will need to have is a rod holder. The number of fishing poles I've seen do cartwheels into the lake or the rivers when one of those old rust buckets hit and someone didn't have a rod holder.

Make sure to physically secure your rod to the bank some how!
A good carp will pull your rod right in and you'll lose your rod.
Also, loosen your drag to a little under a half pound while waiting. Once the carp takes it, tighten it up just enough so that when the carp is swimming normally it won't peel drag and you can pull it in, but not so much that when it dashes the drag release.
Remember to always keep the bend in your rod, and use the pumping method to bring the carp in. Pull it in by lifting your rod, then drop the tip to around 45 degrees and reel in the slack while dropping the tip.
I actually just lighten up on the pull enough to be able to reel in without peeling drag (this way you keep the bend in your rod all the time with constant tension on the line), then when my rod is about half way down I stop reeling and pull harder again.

Mark get some crickets with small cork ,small split shot weight with a number 8 long shaft bream hook. You will see a lot more action, plus catfish and bass like crickets. You can also go to pet smart and buy those cheap goldfish. You will need a minnow bucket with an aerator to keep goldfish alive. Use a golf ball size bobber, with a number 4 gold hook. No weight. Just throw out and let goldfish swim around, big bass will kill it. Can’t resist the goldfish. I buy the 32 cent each goldfish. The 16 cent ones are usually too small. Try that I’m sure you will have much more action. Love your videos and the Japanese.

Pro tip for better tasting fish, either put them on a stringer by your spot or Bleed and ice right after catching. Whenever fish get stressed they release toxins into the meat, so the more stressful the lead up to the death the worse and faster your fish meat spoils.

If you want to attract carp, you can "chum" the water with grass clippings. Seriously. You may not be able to do this in a private pond, but in a creek or stream take a garbage bag full of grass clippings and empty the clippings into the water. Common grass carp will arrive soon and come to the top, sucking the grass down. Great time to catch 'em. We used to bowfish them that way. Bowfishing is a BLAST!

    3 things mark
    1. You should try and keep you lil pole in your hand mor often
    2. Idk if this would help you but with pan fish use small hooks and only use enough worm to cover the hook when you put extra worm on there you will miss alot of fish and save more worms
3.on your carp rig put the hook with the corn on the bait ball … after you make the bait ball just smash the hook on the bait ball ( I hope that makes sense)
And please go hard and get a carp we want to see you catch a carp and cook it up the mark way thank u keep up the good work I hope u read this and switch up your drink that’s one of my favorite parts about your video and it been water the pass few vids you should switch the drink up every time

I got some tricks for ya for carp, I catch em on the regular. My usual routine is 2 oz weight to lock my bait to the bottom, strong swivel, 30 lb braid leader to a size 4 octopus or similar style hook. Peg as much white shoepeg corn through the side on the hook as you can while leaving the actual point exposed. Cast into the area where you see fish passing through frequently, and chum with a whole can of corn. Usually produces great results. If this method works for you I'm more than happy to have spread the word.

    • @j2d4oi

Must not have a lot of weeds there? I had to get heavy gauge carp hooks for my area because the carp would swim through the weeds and bunch the weeds up on the weight or method feeder. This would give high enough resistance for the carp to pull against to straighten the hook and get away.
I also had to start tying my weights and feeders on using lighter line so when they would detach before causing too much resistance.

    • @cheapshotfishing9239
      @cheapshotfishing9239 2 ปีที่แล้ว

I'm fishing in the weeds. Like directly in the lily pads. I go with the 4 octopus because they set themselves fairly well before getting into the throat of the fish. I use the same ones I use to drift eggs for salmon, owner cutting points. When the fish fights and tries to pull away from you the hook tends to turn around and set at a second point in the top of their lip, keeping them fully locked. I actually lose more fish on the heavy gauge hooks to just tearing straight out of their lips.

There's a video of a Russian guy fishing for carp. No English, either spoken or subtitles, but, you can still figure out what's going on.
He has special carp bait (the labels on his stuff were multi-lingual), which he'd make into a paste, and then stick into a small basket (for lack of a better word) on his line. The line goes through it, and the bait slowly dissolves, so it's kind of a chum basket, a cylinder maybe one by two inches, with an open frame, and the line coming out the middle. If I recall correctly, he'd jam the hooks into the back (open) rend of the basket.
I've caught many _huge_ carp using frozen corn kernels, two or three on a hook, with some split shot of a small weight.

You might want to look up "Ikejime" which is a method for killing the fishing that preserves the meat better than bonking. Btw loving your channel recently! So much great content

Add garlic powder to the guts if you want it makes them more potent in the water for catfish.

For people who hate on carps, it’s cause they don’t know how to cook.
Truth be told, people will always hate on things that they don’t understand.

Also when fishing for carp check your lines at least every hour, just to make sure it still have bait and isn't fouled up.

Check how many hooks you can have on a line, go back to your river & fish with three tiny hooks with tiny bits of worm strung after it. Takes a couple hours but hey will comr

But only use a treble hook if you're catching food, not releasing 👍

I was impressed with your innovation in the carp setup. Corn and oats are always good. In the UK we use a cage feeder or method feeder to put our ground bait on. Carp are very wily and will be sometimes suspicious of bait if they feel the hooks in them. Put a bit of corn on a hair rig will help. Also have a look at boilies, people make then for carp fishing and can hold quite well if you don't want to use corn. Enjoying your videos so far subscribed👍

Love your content fella! If you don’t have an ice maker you can fill up water bottles and freeze them to add to your cooler to keep your fish fresh! It will improve the taste and quality of your catch!
