    Said this for the longest time. The whole Iso ball and pick and roll KD/WB isnt gonna win a title...they need to play with their teammates.

    • @emmjaySODMG

      Exactly they dont play team ball they play a two man game and thats it

    • @jimmtheballs
      @jimmtheballs 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Plague Doc And nobody else on their team will get better. They need to split up KD and Westbrook, or get them to pull their giant heads in.

    • @hamzykhan5127
      @hamzykhan5127 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +Plague Doc even if he had pass the ball nothing would happen they need solid set plays involving both of them just like GS so their TEAMMATES CAN get open

    • @iMyoto
      @iMyoto 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +jimmtheballs they dont even play together. It's mostly Steven Adams work tendencies that keep giving them shots.

    • @michaels6951
      @michaels6951 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Plague Doc this has been the story of the team for the past 5 years. durant can play through iso ball but westbrook is not nearly as reliable and he is just out of control

    Finally people are coming around to the reality that the Thunder just aren't contenders right now (and probably haven't been since 2011-2012). They have enough talent on the roster, for sure, but there are huge problems with how it all fits together.

    • @HyperSole
      @HyperSole 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I honestly think Harden and Durant would've been a better fit than Westbrook and Durant.

    • @alejandroserrano7755

      +HyperSole They needed harden to stay with them. They let go of reggie too.

      +D Sizzle because he wanted, and deserved, a bigger role and they wouldn't give it to him.
      some of the anecdotes I've seen in the press suggest Westbrook didn't like him and treated him badly.
      I don't think it fair to say he was he cancer.

    That is why LBJ in any team can be a contender.. Because he's good with teammates.. Not like KD and WB.. They are just good with stats..

    • @tiismuna
      @tiismuna 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +gman dog6 when they got to the finals? they have a stronger team then.. analysts almost count on them to win the finals last 3 seasons, because they have a powerhouse.. its just they can't play well in a team.. these two just pad stats..

    • @lildwell2
      @lildwell2 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lol. LBJ pads stats too. These people are relying solely on athleticism instead of good sound basketball technique and IQ. In my honest opinion, it leads back to their college days or lack there of.

    • @tiismuna

    I love it when games like this happen, just so I can watch the breakdown. also Durant needs to get out of OKC this year, if he went to the lakers others would want to come to the team again and within a couple of seasons they could be contenders

    @1971Corwin 9 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    I don't watch a lot of Thunder games, but every time I do (against my Blazers, mostly), Westbrook makes horrific mistakes in crunch time. Durant is on quite a bad decision streak too.

    • @jsdzx
      @jsdzx 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agreed, westbrook gets alot of the blame but Durant is just as bad. In last week warrior game, kd was a t.o and bad decision machine when westbrook was on the bench.

    • @1971Corwin
      @1971Corwin 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I only watched the very end of that one, on replay, but Durant's flip to center court and subsequent foul were pretty much the nail in their coffin in that game.

    Coach Nick, can you break down the Timberwolves? We got two young stars in Towns and Wiggins and I'm seeing good things out of other guys such as Lavine and Dieng. While we are one of the worst 5 teams in the NBA in a few years I think we'll be a force and I was curious if you would look to see why and what makes us a force

    • @ParaditeRs
      @ParaditeRs 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Adam Doležálek I'd rather have neither of them. Cp3 hasn't been to a conference finals despite more than enough talent to do so on multiple teams. At the very least Westbrook has a finals appearance as a starting point guard on his resume. Watching videos like this though just goes to show that Westbrook is all out athleticism and little brains.

    Coach, can you do a breakdown on the Celtics? I know, compared to the western teams their record isn't that great; but I'm still extremely impressed by the fact that they made a complete turn around from the 8th seed that got swept in the first round vs now sitting at the 3rd seed, including a surprising and impressive blowout win against a boiling hot Trailblazers team a couple days ago. And what's even more impressive is, they've got to this point without having to majorly change their personal since last year.

    Since LBJ left you haven't said anything about them and they're doing really good this season, despite losing Bosh, Tyler Johnoson and Beno Udrich. Hassan is a beast, Dragic is starting to look comfortable and Wade is playing like he's 5 years younger, making clutch plays and being great leader - I'm sure it hasn't escaped your attention.

    Some of this Westbrook blame is a stretch. One thing to note is that the Thunder only have two good passers: Russ (who is incredible) and KD. By the 4th quarter these guys are completely gassed and most of their mistakes were tired mistakes. Not only do these guys play big minutes but they're constantly attacking and creating for others.
    The Thunder have no shooters, and no one other than the big 2 averages more than 2 assists per game.
    Also, sometimes guys miss free throws. KDs rattled in and out...calling it a "choke" fits the narrative, but it's not really substantive. I actually don't really care for the Thunder, but videos like this are so knee-jerk/results oriented.

    Did he say 4th road game in 5 nights? I know these guys get paid millions to do what they do but wtf NBA? It makes me respect the players who are staying consistent even more knowing how tough their job must be.

    I can't even look at OKC as a real championship contender ever again. It's really embarrassing how they fail to close out games and can't even execute down the stretch. Against the Spurs and Warriors, they have no chance.

    okc should sign fisher tbh, Durant said he likes him and was mad knicks fired him and he said he was a "good coach" with no proof tho. Then u take him, see how good he is. you gonna make the playoffs Because anyone will make the playoffs with the thunder with KD and Westbrook healthy

    It's mind boggling how often these players can just stand around just doing the very minimum to make themselves available to receive a pass near the perimeter and just watch either Durant or Westbrook. Durant and Westbrook need to start developing a consistent off-ball game and as leaders of the team, they need to run the plays the coaches want to implement. It starts with them, if they're standing around so often and just spotting up to make themselves available to catch an outlet pass, the less talented players are not going to try anything different. I'm pretty sure the coach didn't design their offensive sets to look like this half the time.

    OKC are having awful time closing out 4th quarters of late, but if there is a consolation it would be it's only a regular season game they still have time to fix there gremlins. Just think the team that beat you probably had one of the worst collapse in NBA playoffs history when the loss to the Rockets.

      there are only ~20 games left. they should be rounding into form. they don't want to be 4 seed and face GSW in 2nd round. if they get out of 1st round that is.

      +Jordan M. that's not true though, if your team is down by 3 points, you want to shoot the ball as soon as possible so that even though you miss, you still have the chance to grab a rebound or if your opponent get the rebound, you can get to foul-freethrow-get possession process.

      Kavan Barry But they are not consistent, and thats mostly because they have such strong attitudes like Westbrook who make bad decisions in clutch time. They are good, no doubt about it, but they are not as good as people often say, in my opinion.

    Maybe Curry, Lillard, or CP3 could get away with just running pick and rolls with Durant all game, but Westbrook is too fucking stupid and can't make a play for shit to do it. Terrible decision making. He also has no 3-point shot, a weak mid-range, and is reckless and likes to drive at collapsed defenders in the paint, etc. This shit is not going to work for them. And don't even get me started on that final 3 in this game lmao... What in the fuck was Westbrick thinking??? When he did that when I was watching the game I was mind-boggled. I thought "surely God he's going to swing it over to KD at the 3" since KD can actually shoot and he's fairly clutch in those situations, but NOPE. Classic Russ... A RUNNING 3-POINTER FROM 27 FEET WITH TWO PEOPLE CONTESTING. Good lord Westbrook you were running up the floor with 12 precious seconds left and you do that shit? KD is going to choke you to death one of these days... or leave OKC which is virtually inevitable at this rate.

    KD really doesn't fight getting muscled out of post position off ball. He could be setting up for low post, but the longer he goes without the ball, the more he starts walking to the 3 point line.

    Westbrook is the least clutch ball hogging closer ever. had Durant no fouled out, warriors would've lost. Westbrook is absolutely trash in the clutch and tries to chase steals rather than defend his man.
