Athleticism declining has a higher effect on russels playstyle. Especially because of his size. Lebron also distorted everyones perception of age on a player. He has been "past the average prime age bracket" since 2018. So I agree with you but I think in every sport athletes are starting to prolong their prime into their 30s. Sure he's seemed to be falling off, but I think it more because of how the game is played now than anything. He never improved his shooting and perimeter game, and that's come to expose him in this age where even 7ft Centere are required to he at least decent shooters

Its all narrative based Jordan Shaq Duncan and LeBron should have all had more MVPs but the NBA wants too "spread it around" so they can have more stars to market.

    I think the issue with Westbrook on the lakers is that LeBron does what he does already. Westbrook needs the ball to make plays and openings but LeBron does it better, so unless he's driving to the rim, he has no idea what to do when LeBron is the ball handler. This would be easier if Westbrook was a better defender but his defense is so lazy, all he does is wait for a steal or a rebound so he can be aggressive offensively.
    All he needs to do is work on reading the movements of players on defense and to find open lanes and wall people off on offense. Because when he does get in the paint he can still be dangerous, he just can't rely on his team always making that space for him every time. Trust that Davis will get the rebound, that LeBron will pass him the ball when he has an opening and that if he makes space LeBron can hit some clean shots

      westbrook actually showed a good amount of times this season that he can still be a decent to good defender when he’s actually engaged on that side of the court. there was times where the lakers would actually go stretches where they were playing great defense and shutting down offenses and then they’d just stop trying as a unit if they got scored on a few times in a row. I’m not excusing russ he’s still responsible for jus being more disciplined on that end but I’m just saying this is a problem w the whole team as well not just him. we saw this lack of effort after a stretch of good defense shi a lot w bron at center n as good as bron did at that position, i can’t help but think not having your anchor on defense actually playing for 2 months out of the season would make it harder to consistently be out there putting pressure on the offense

    He never became disciplined and developed his game, look at LeBron love him or hate him into his late 30's he's continued to add to his game, post moves, improving his jumper, improved at picking his spots, improved his decision making everything etc. Westbrook was an amazing athlete and scorer who played with great intensity when he was young but he never substantially improved after his 3rd/4th season he just took more shots, stole rebounds from his teammates and dominated the ball more and more to put up big stats. Westbrook was one of my favorite players in 2012/2013 with his incredible driving and aggressiveness, but by 2015/2016 it was obvious he was holding back OKC and KD, and I 100% believe Russ was the reason KD left OKC, maybe KD should have done more to stop westbrooks recklessness with the ball especially in late game situations but it doesn't seem like anyone has been able to get Russ to listen so I can't really fault KD.

    His issue is that he just can't understand how to play basketball as a team sport. His iso game has never been the issue, it's his inability to refuse playing hero ball. If he just evolved his later career game he could play at a high level and be a positive for a team, but I really believe his personality type blinds him from ever being able to realize this.

    • @megamonke2195
      @megamonke2195 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep, I agree. He’s getting older and, as we know, with age your body changes and slows down. So Russ can’t be that downhill, high-flying point guard he was in his earlier days. He needs to change his style of play and because he’s too stubborn to do so, his game has become stagnant and we can see all Russ’ weaknesses amplified.

      @@yuuki_ So what? He’s a ball hog, when the ball is ALWAYS in your hands, you will get assists (and turnovers too big shocker)
      It doesn’t mean he’s a gifted passer he’s not
      Westbrook is flat out bad at basketball
      He’d be like an MLB player who hits 30 home runs a year with 30 stolen bases, but has a crap batting average, crap on base percentage, and plays awful defense, ie someone who can LITERALLY be a net liability despite putting up some nice stats (overlooking the awful ones)
      Westbrook is literally a net liability to a team winning…… He’s a bad shooter, for his CAREER he’s BELOW AVERAGE true shooting percentage, and he plays AWFUL, ZERO EFFORT defense, and he turns the ball over a lot……. Im a Russ fan and thank you for making this unbiased , I’m tired of other fans calling him the greatest point guard of all time and the haters saying he is not even a top 10 point guard. I think la fans also did waay to much and messed up his value because no team wants a guy that nba fans don’t like. He had a not terrible but just bad-decent enough season with his lowlights being so low and his highlights being pretty good.

    I’m a Westbrook fan and I’m not biased, yes I know he isn’t all that great, he might fold under pressure some bias fans must say, but I feel like he needs to work on one of the things that made him so great, and that’s defence, I also believe Russ should learn how to pass the ball more and not shoot, and with this he could be a better version on Rajon Rondo, and I feel bad for the man Russ, everyone is hating on his attitude and his aggressiveness but we can’t forget that the reason he plays every game so aggressive and tries so hard to have a good game (Getting lots of points and assists but instead turning it over) is because his best friend in high school died, and he told himself he’ll play every game like it’s his last, so he really tries his best.
