To Sumita : how can resource create his backup? Will that backup be allocated to project offically in the beginning itself? ....Or resource has to search for his own backup ? What about that backups existing project? Or project manager arranges for the backup ?
Normally it's part of risk contingency and mitigation . All project have that budget and good PMs always have 1-3 people extra in the project (mix of fresher / experience)
Hello Sir you are God send.
So nice of you
Technical delivery Manager roles please
Answers are not crisp. They are all over the place. In order to manage delays, apart from contingency, a detailed project plan which documents all dependencies, vacation plans, any organizational freezes is required. On top of this, weekly touch base with all teams, proactive follow ups are needed. If delay is inevitable, get back to track options are to be brainstormed. Finally, if delay is inevitable, entry in risk log, updation of milestone chart and communication to steering comittee is required.
Thanks for inputs. Why don't you come as guest and share your perspective to larger audience, share your LinkedIn and whatsapp on sunandsharrma@gmail.com, see you soon
> In order to manage delays... a detailed project plan... is required.
I guess you never heard of Dwight D. Eisenhower's quote *"Plans are worthless, but planning is everything."* After being in this industry for over 25 years, I think Sumita's answers are accurate, spot-on, and good enough. Perfect? No.
As Gen. George S. Patton once said, *“A Good Plan, ...Executed Now, Is Better Than a Perfect Plan Next Week.”* I would hire her if I could.
