    Sprained my ankle 1 week ago. I am able to walk on it and even run along the trail too (with a brace)… but my ankle still hurts and is swollen. Pain is worse in the morning not the evening. Walking and running actually makes it feel better. BUT AM I DELAYING HEALING BY RUNNING ON IT? Better to not run? Seems like running stimulus would help with healing… in the wild when animals are injured they do t sit on couch with an ice pack… seems nature would have us walking and running. But so many claim that this bad? I’m so confused… if ligaments need motion to preserve range of motion and motion to pump lymph and blood fluids to them for healing then why arnt we walking and running if we are able? Why do drs tell people who could be walking or running not to?

    Thank you for the kind words and information.
    I was skipping And the floor had a _pot hole_.
    My right foot. Turned sideways/ *inversion* .
    It's bruised. I am using ice for 10 minutes... Every hour....
    And
    Foot is elevated.

    I have just one question, does it also apply for a mid foot sprain? I didn’t have swelling where is my ankle but a on my lateral foot which went down to my toes.

    • @SportsInjuryPhysio
      @SportsInjuryPhysio  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It does, but you need to first get yours checked because it sounds as if you may have broken your 5th metatarsal bone (the small bone on the outer side of your foot).

      @@SportsInjuryPhysio I am really worried now :( I did an x ray and it did not show any fractures

    • @SportsInjuryPhysio
      @SportsInjuryPhysio  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      OK, but that's good - if xray showed no fracture then it is just sprained. In that case the advice in this video is basically the same for you with regards to walking but also get advice from a physio or podiatrist who can assess it for your and prescribe exercises because the exercises will be different from ankle sprain.

      @@SportsInjuryPhysio ohhh it seems like they did a false reading of my x ray!
      I had an MRI and it showed avulsion fracture without significant displacement. And I’m totally out of my mind, the doctors are saying I should do mobility exercises but how can I do exercise my foot if there’s a fracture? I have to wear walking boot for 6 weeks and I wonder whether I should wait or start to do circles and other mobility exercises even now… thank you in advance for your help.

    @sportsinjuryphysio please I need your response. I sprained my ankle playing football. It’s been 2weeks now. I can rotate my ankle in all directions but it hurts when I try to stretch it with my hand or when I put my weight on it in some positions

      How long should I expect treatment to take

    • @SportsInjuryPhysio
      @SportsInjuryPhysio  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It will likely take about 8 weeks to regain full control and strength - make sure you work on rehab and properly strengthening your ankle - you can find some more ideas in this playlist: th-cam.com/play/PLkRW4ITRa6bAXw48EQPjY44dH24mX-Wd9.html

    I have ankle and foot sprain about a week I fell down saving my grandson slipping on bowling lane well I’m not the one who fell on my knees and hurt my foot and my ankle now I’m wearing a ankle brace should I quit walking

    • @SportsInjuryPhysio
      @SportsInjuryPhysio  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      🙈It depends on how your body reacts to walking. The rule with rehab and exercise is usually that it is OK to do as long as:
      1. It only causes a slight discomfort while doing it, AND
      2. It does not cause an increase in your pain and swelling that lasts for more than 24 hours
      So, perhaps just reduce how much or how fast you walk if it is currently aggravating it.

    I sprained my ankle about 1 and a half weeks ago and I can walk on it, but there is still a small pain on my foot. Do I need to use crutches to walk?

    • @SportsInjuryPhysio
      @SportsInjuryPhysio  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      No - you only use crutches when it is absolutely needed and your ankle sounds like it is getting better. Just limit your walking distance and time on feet so it doesn't make the pain worse.

    Broke my ankle a year ago (surgery required) , I can walk 3 miles outside, however walking barefoot indoors is still a bit of a challenge……..

    • @SportsInjuryPhysio
      @SportsInjuryPhysio  10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      If you feel that your foot isn't as strong when you are barefoot (so it needs support of the shoe) then doing rehab exercises to strengthen it can help. You can find some ideas in this video th-cam.com/video/M91D3iqdlnU/w-d-xo.html But if you wanted a more tailored plan for your ankle, this is also something our team can help with via video call.
