      Hey how was surgery? The pain, the healing process the discomfort? I fell off a bike on my knee and I went for an x-ray which didn't show any obvious fractures but it was recommended I go for an MRI. It's been more than a week and I still have limited mobility, discomfort and pain

Watching this video has been very helpful as i now have my crutches at the right height and am not hurting my arms/shoulders when walking. Yes, crutches can help to get you moving. But try not to spend too much time on crutches, so get help from a physio (if you haven't already) to get the injury rehabbed.

    Is it generally not recommended to walk with the crutch same side? I have Hypermobile EDS and need the crutch to support my left leg, but my right shoulder joint is far too unstable to support any weight

    • @SportsInjuryPhysio
      @SportsInjuryPhysio  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You should do what works best for you. It doesn't make sense to force your right arm to work if that will cause you more trouble. If using the crutch in your left hand provides the support you need, then go for it.

    This is so helpful for me, but how do I walk if I have a knee immobilizer on my leg?

    • @SportsInjuryPhysio
      @SportsInjuryPhysio  27 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      You will likely have to keep that leg straight out in front of you and just use your uninjured leg. It can also help to wear a shoe with a thick sole on your support leg or even add an Even-up (geni.us/EsVA4I) to it so that you're higher on that side and can move the one that can't bend through more easily.

    I have a tibial plateau fracture of my right leg and am able to get up and down stairs easily with one forearm crtuch and holding the banister. How do I carry the other crutch for when I'm on a flat surface at the top amd bottom of stairs? Any suggestions much appreciated

    • @SportsInjuryPhysio
      @SportsInjuryPhysio  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think that there is any good solution for carrying it. Some of my patients have either bought an extra crutch so they could leave on at the top and bottom or they have hooked the round bit of the extra crutch around their forearm so it dangles loosely sticking out to the back as they climb up and then they just slide it down ahead of them for coming down.
