Lowering springs seem like they'd be the perfect fit for your vehicle, although if you can afford it, coilovers will give you lots of adjustability so you can find the perfect ride height. Thanks for watching!
currently on Tokico blue struts and Skunk2 springs ... I love it ... don't have the adjustability as I would in a coilover ... but I don't really need to adjust it ... worked for me ... spent around 650 for the set up ...
I had Koni yellow shocks w/ ground control and eibach springs on my Honda S2000. The set up was great. Very good handling and the ride was nice for my liking.
andysauto sport TV? ive been looking at this site for years.. and i must say, youtube videos are an excellent promotion. very smart :) new level of money i gaurentee it
If you don't mind a little cutting and welding, the XYZ coilovers for your car are a good deal and perform well. KSport is also a popular choice. As far as converting your factory struts, yes you can convert the front, but the rear would require some further modifications and chassis reinforcements in order to turn them into adjustable coilovers. Setups like the KSport, KW, and others use an adjustable height rear spring mount with an adjustable outboard-mounted shock.
Thanks for the video - It explained a lot, and made it easy to understand for a newbie like me. can you do a video explaining how to get a luxury car ride.... for those who want to achieve the best in street car rides.
Finally a good source for tuning. Really nice video, you are helping me a lot understanding diferent aspects of my car. I will keep watching all of your videos.
Since your car uses upper and lower control arms instead of struts, there isn't really a bolt-in coilover for your car aside from a Ridetech Shockwave. You might check to see exactly where the control arms are hitting since it sounds like your stock bumpstops may have just deteriorated and new set might just solve the problem for a lot less money.
There is nothing wrong with buying some good lowering springs for your car. As said, for a fixed ride height drop they are a great option when combined with some quality shock absorbers.
The Tein S.Tech springs will lower your car approximately 2 inches up front and 1.2 inches out back. That should give you a nice look without being lowered too much for a daily driver. Thanks for watching Maurkss!
Technically, if you're replacing the part that's knocking with something that comes in the coilover kit, then yes. However, if it's something like your top hats that are making noise and your new coilovers don't happen to come with new ones, then no. Best to find out what the problem is and go from there. Thanks for watching!
I wish coilovers werent so damn expensive. I just dropped a grand on wheels and I got a +1 (to 17" rims) now my ride height is too high for my liking. I want to lower it a little and if I do it, I don't wanna cheap out.
Andys Auto Sport sells lots of sleeve kits. Just find your vehicle make and model on our site and you'll be able to find ones that will work with your car. Thanks.
It certainly could shorten the life of your factory struts. We always suggest going with performance shocks unless the springs you have are specifically made with the factory struts in mind. Thanks for watching!
Which would you recommend for a daily driver that is driven in the city, over speed bumps etc. Thanks for the video, as soon as I am able I will for sure be shopping with you all.
keep in mind you guys with older models like 90s may need a camber kit to go with your lowering springs. 92 S13s need such an upgrade to save your tires
all i am looking to do is stiffen the ride, lower the car slightly, maybe 1-2 inches, and eliminate body-roll through cornering. I'm not taking the car to the track though, more just aggressive city driving. What would you suggest?
As long as you are only interested in the looks and are happy with the amount of lowering that any given set of lowering springs provide, they are an awesome way to go. You could always upgrade your shocks or struts later to get more performance. Thanks for watching!
AndyAutoSport- do you feel that the composite adjustment collars, like on the KW coilovers should be aluminum rather than composite? I've witnessed these composite collars failing under harsh load. KW is a good product, I'm not trying to blast KW.
Thanks this helped a lot!! I've got two 325i e36 bimmers that one I'm rallying and making track ready and the other I'm just trying to lower and throw some rims on, any tips on either type of suspension?
@ Andysauto sport tv, I have a question. I have a 2000 Mazda Millennia S that came with 17's. Then I put 18s on it. Just changed to 20's. 20x 8 1/2 to be exact. Once I put the 20's on, the tire hits the bottom of the fender when I make a right turn. Thats the ONLY one. The car has 52,000 miles on it. What can that be? The struts don't appear to be bad, I didn't get that with the 18s. And also, what coilover would you recommend for that car, if possible? Thanks and keep making great videos.
Is a good set of lowering springs + aftermarket shocks better than coilovers? I dont care about adjustment, just want good everyday performance with a minimal drop.
Which would you recommend for a daily driver that is driven in the city over speed bumps etc. Thanks for the videos when I am able I will for sure be shopping with you all.
lowering springs give you a fixed rate ie 2" or 3" drop and are alot cheaper. coilovers can be adjusted and lowered as much as you want from 1" to literally slammed on the ground. They are way more expensive coil overs can be around 1000-1500 while springs can range from 200 and a bit up.
dude like i said before, you make good reviews but pls recommend international brands not just american ones because it isnt just americans watching your programs.
Thanks for your feedback. We feature products which we sell, and only two of the brands we specifically mentioned are US-based. That being said, this video was not meant to be brand-specific, but instead serves as an overview of how lowering springs and coilovers work. Thanks for watching!
thanks for the response and i hope i didnt come across as a total douche but just my opinion. as usual keep up the good work and i hope to see many more soon!
i want to know what is the best coilover kit for my nissan 240sx s13 1992..i mean there is a lot of brand Lolll...but you know ..i am not rich haha !! 1000$ is the farest i can go! and nice video, very instructive and you know how to explain well
Awesome video, really dialed into the questions I had in lowering springs vs coilovers. For my 2006 Audi A4 Quattro I’m leaning towards coilovers that include the camber plates and adjustability without compromising the load on the spring. Have some recommendations? Thanks in advance!!
Wish I would have watched this before getting my coils... Got Tein Basic Streets, can only adjust the springs, creating a harder suspension setup the lower they go :\
I'm an owner of 97 dodge avenger and I am trying to lower my car. I know that I can use part from 2g Mitsubishi Eclipse, talons, and sebring coupes. I am wondering what would be the best option to go with to lower my car and improve my driving handling.
I don't think lowering springs improve handling at all. I have an '05 Viper where the previous owner lowered it using just springs... Looks good but handles WORSE than stock. Coilovers are expensive but worth it!
We're still updating the site on some of the 2012 models, so your best bet would be to call our sales line at 1 (800) 419-1152 to find out which coilovers and springs we have for your new car. Thanks!
Is there a coil-over for the 2014 mirage? This car has an overly soft suspension feels like it's gonna topple every-time I sweep a curve. Can't even feel when it's about to under-steer. Coming to the US this fall. Also, are coil-overs significantly harder than lowered srpings and shocks? I don't want something rock-hard, that ends up warping the chassis. That coil-over with yellow spring, purple collar, and silver shocks looks nice!
i want to know if spending 250$ on lowering spring would really worth the shot because for me it would be more for the esthetic than for the performence , so do you really see the defference between before and after ? thanks
hey bro , I just been installed lower spring my 04 civc. But it going too low it about 1" or 1 1/5" from those tires , it hit my rear fender when turn on corner. Do you have any idea to make it stronger when it have turn on corner ?
I have a 2000 Civic SI. I was gonna go with lowering springs but I much rather be able to adjust the height of my car rather than permanently lower it. So now I'm stuck in between the sleeves or full coilovers. I daily drive my car and hardly race it if at all, so which one is better for a daily driver?
"Any time you lower your car the alignment can be affected, for example if you lower your car drastically you'll notice the top of the tires going inward, this is called 'Hellaflush' & gets you street cred."
Very good videos...do you sell springs and struts for 86 Honda Prelude Si? Having trouble finding springs for this car. Everyone has the struts but no springs are available. Thanks for your advice/help
Thanks for the compliment! As for as the lowering springs, unfortunately we don't carry them for that 86 Prelude and I don't know where you could find them. Sorry about that!
which one is best for longetivity? coil overs or just springs. also im just slightly going low leaving top of the tire and bottom of fender enough room to put two fingers in
@AndyAutoSportTV hey im trying to lower my altima 2002 would you recomend the lowering springs? Im in a budget and im not trying to spend to much on new shocks and struts..
I want to lower my car and i'm thinking about getting some lowering springs. Maybe the sleeves also. my question is if i get springs on, Will my car bounce a lot on the road?
I have a honda civic 2000 the previous owner cut the springs and adjustable part on the coilovers. The car sits really low and is so bumpy it gets ridiculous! Im a little tight on money these days, so what kind would make my Honda handle better and give it a little lift.
Hello Andy I have bought from you already now I am looking to lower my car for a nice stance please could you give me list of what I will need for my Camry 2011 SE to have it done the rite way. Will I need Camber Kits? not being a track car its more of a personal hobby car but I am looking to install Cat back so there are some things I am listing also next year I will be having a Turbo system installed too so being that any help would be appreciated. Thanks
I have a 2012 Camry SE and I would like to lower the car just for looks still my family car. Any suggestion what kind of lowering kit or something? great review...
Are the shocks & struts that come with Eibach's Pro System the same as the ones that come with the Sportline System?... I have the Pro System Plus installed on my car and did not get the advertised 1.5" drop (didn't even get a 1" drop). So I am considering switching to the Sportline Springs but want to insure that the shocks & struts are still within their optimal operating range.
if i like the ride height of the springs and don't need the adjustability of the coilover, is it more efficient to buy Springs or coilovers. What is more cost efficient in the long run?

I have coilovers on my Honda no stock struts or shocks just adjustable coilovers. My car is really bumpy! Im thinking on getting a spring strut combo kit can i still keep on my coilovers or take them off and will i need a camber kit?
i'm looking into buying a tein coilover kit for my 09 impreza 2.5i hatch. As my daily driver, would you recommend the street basis Z or something else? I don't intend to track it or drive it hard.. Occasionally i'll take it to some curvy roads and stretch the car to the limits.. + the 600$CAD is my budget on coils... i'm new to this coilover stuff.. only time i lowered a car was years ago with just budget lowering springs..
Yep the Street Basis Z is a great option for a daily driver where you aren't going to be taking it to the track and you're on a budget. It's super well-priced yet gives you all the benefits of a Tein coilover system. It's a solid fit for your criteria.
AndysAutoSportTV I have a 1997 Honda Prelude I just bought as my first car. I live in the mountains in Colorado, and my driveway is pretty steep. The car was lowered before I bought it, I can barely get up my driveway without scraping my front bumper. Can't really get over most speed bumps either. I would like to keep the car lowered because it looks nice and I plan on going to car shows eventually, but I don't want to be at the mercy of speed bumps and my driveway all the time and have to worry about scraping my nice paint off. Is there a system that I could adjust quickly besides air suspension that I could get? I can't afford air suspension at all. Thanks!
So no matter how expensive the coilover you still lose all comfort when in bumpy/sh*tty roads? Or is there one where you get the comfort and the handling? the instant I started to listen to this guy I loved him, clear concise explanations without convoluted phrases to sound technical.

thumbs up on featuring Tein products and HUGE kudos to the host for actually pronouncing their name correctly!
It's worth mentioning that some coilover kits allow for independent damping and compression adjustment for even more fine tuning on the track.
I had Koni yellow shocks w/ ground control and eibach springs on my Honda S2000. The set up was great. Very good handling and the ride was nice for my liking.
thank you for your video, no long crazy intros, just pure information, big shout out from London my dude, may Allah (God Almighty) bless you, peace ✌️

We've seen it done more than a few times. It works fine as long as you use the proper spring rate and have enough travel left in your struts.
Thanks for the video - It explained a lot, and made it easy to understand for a newbie like me.
can you do a video explaining how to get a luxury car ride.... for those who want to achieve the best in street car rides.
Racing Dynamics RGR. Long discontinued, but still one of our favorites!

One of the biggest difference between lowering springs and coils because the lowering spring rate is not matched to the stock struts and shocks.
If I ever win the lottery I'm going to build the ultimate garage like you have in this vid, and just build cars all day : )
A lot of people really like the KSport and Megan Racing coilovers for budget setups
Technically, if you're replacing the part that's knocking with something that comes in the coilover kit, then yes. It's not absolutely necessary, but for the best ride and performance we highly suggest it. Thanks for watching!
damn... heisenburg is a master chemist, a kingpin, and an auto guru?
dont wanna mess with him
I put mopar stage 1s on my challenger, as long as you stay within an inch, you don't need a camber kit, shocks or struts..just stay within an inch
Forgot to mention about corner balancing when using fully adjustable coilover setups, for the track junkies. Great video though.
Which would you recommend for a daily driver that is driven in the city, over speed bumps etc. Thanks for the video, as soon as I am able I will for sure be shopping with you all.

Most coil over systems I have seen only allow very minor increased ride height...usually less than one inch.
Lol I just got a set of coilovers from yall last week. I subscribed.
Negative Camber = Style > Function :D
i want to lower my car but whats better for the car and is gonna save me money in the long run coilovers or lowering springs

Answered all the questions I had!!! Thanks.
but how do I pick the right spring for a shock? how does adjusting right height affect spring rate?
What do think about about sleeves using stock struts for a while?

is this the andy motorsports from san jose on capitol expressay or tully.. in norcal? AndysAutoSportTV
Cool video on your website though it doesnt differentiate between mazda 3 and mazdaspeed 3.
Coilover only refers to the design of the suspension. The "lowering springs" shown are still coilovers they're just not adjustable.
can you do a video on how to install the coilover sleeves on stock struts?
Can u make a video of how to adjust your coilovers
i would like use your products but unfortunetly you don't have my car on your list , could you still help me , my car skoda octavia 1.9tdi elegance 2003
Dude thanks this really good info !!!
Thanks for your reply..much appreciated
Wasn't looking for a lowering spring....just the normal ones like original that came on the car from the factory
Are those available?
We don't have the OE springs for your 86 Prelude either unfortunately. We do have the struts though: www.andysautosport.com/shocks/honda_prelude.html
I have coilovers on my Honda no stock struts or shocks just adjustable coilovers. My car is really bumpy! Im thinking on getting a spring strut combo kit can i still keep on my coilovers or take them off and will i need a camber kit?
Good video, I'm wondering do you ship to the UK and how much would it cost to ship and is there VAT charges etc?
i'm looking into buying a tein coilover kit for my 09 impreza 2.5i hatch.
Oh yea and I'm on tokico blues right now, would the sleeves work good with them? I need help in order to make up my mind. Thanks!
Sleeves work well, but if you know how low you want to go, lowering springs would be a more hassle-free setup.
Using lowering springs you don't have to worry about the camber kit right
AndysAutoSportTV I have a 1997 Honda Prelude I just bought as my first car. Thanks!
There are alternatives (such as air "cups," but they actually cost more than an air suspension setup.
So no matter how expensive the coilover you still lose all comfort when in bumpy/sh*tty roads? Or is there one where you get the comfort and the handling? Comfort as in like stock where you barely feel anything when going through bumps not perfect streets. Coz I live in a place the roads are broken and is infested with road humps
i just put the coilovers into the car with out the camber kit , and there is a savage camber on it atm , how much is the camber kit?
