The sound is torsion bind, not the strut piston. The springs are twisting when she turns, all they needed were some thrust bearings under the spring so they could twist freely. Something you should put on ANY coilover, high end or not. Summit sells Eibach and other brand thrust bearings, swift sells delrin versions.
Just a reminder folks, when ever using impact tools or hammering, wear saftey glasses. Especially when hammering, if a small chip comes off it can take your eye out. I have seen it happen to a friend of mine.
I bought yonaka coilovers for 500$ on sale. Original 799$. They are nice and great response. No problems no noises. Good quality. Feels like im driving a go kart and they r so responsive n helped improve grip. Great buy.
That noise sounded like spring binding.. That's what I had.. Charged my top mounts and greased it up and the problem disappeared and mine are budget coilovers..
Has Andy's done a video on how to do an at home alignment? It would be nice to see a well done video on how to do a basic alignment if you can't bring it to a shop in a reasonable amount of time. Great vid as always!
Yea i like the videos. I use to own a 98 camry with the 2sfe i did a rear disk conversion from a 99 v6 camry into mine and also installed cross drilled slotted rotors all around. I had sum 17's 5 star black with chrome lip a short ram intake nothing big or modified yet but i still had some heads turnin when they saw my drilled slotted rotors on all 4 sides... I havent even started yet but car broke down after 5 years with it had to sell it..
Can you please do a video on installing upper control arms front and rear and lower control arm rear on the integra because there is no good videos on how to.
I like the video. However, I am not a fan of the 7th gen civics. Especially with their suspension. I own a 6th gen civic which the the last gen to have double wishbone front system. It has much better adjustability and better handling than the cost saving McPherson strut system.
am i to assume that the top end shock dont go bad.. how long was shock on did u hit a number of pot holes. i hve use cheaper coilover n had no problem.... all u need to do is the right set up for ur car... expensive is not necessarily value for money
i have the same problem in my car its not the strut its the strut mount any car will make that sound when the bearings in mount goes bad i dare you to use the same mount in the best coilover/strut it will make the same sound
7th gen civics are some of the most Unpopular civics made because of the crap stock motors and lack of aftermarket support/tuning. 6th gen hatches are number 1 IMO. Regardless I'm glad your doing it right and safe
Hey AndyAutoSport, Im really in a dilemma right now. I have the choice of getting a 7th gen Honda Civic, or a MK4 1.8T Jetta, I am really fidgety about the Drum brakes on the Civic, and I really like the idea of the turbo on the Jetta (Great after a tune) Im planning on adding Coil overs, and an exhaust in the future, any ideas on the car choice, and things to be aware of. I currently drive an E46 BMW, but I want to finally own my own car, able to be half takin apart in the garage without wondering how im going to get to work. Thanks
Metal hammer on metal pickle fork without eye protection? I've had a metal spark fragment from a hardened panel nail land in my eye. Had to be removed by an opthalmologist. Luckily there was no permanent damage but it could have cost me the sight in that eye. At the very least I would have used a hard rubber mallet instead of a carpenter's finish hammer. Cucumber Fork - nice touch of humor! :)
Ok so i am about to get some new shocks and struts but for my car it is cheaper to buy coilovers. I was going to get some skunk2 pro s or pro c series coilovers. Would these be good and long lasting?
I bought myself a Mk 4 VW GTI 24V VR6 lowered on FK Streetline Coilovers about a week ago and I heard this same sound coming from the same place when I was doing the same thing (I was taking a slow, 90 degree left turn at a stoplight) about 3 days ago. Does anybody have suggestions on what type of coilovers are best for my Mk 4 GTI?
Im just gonna go out on a limb here and say those are also junk..... Get some tein or bc! They dont even adjust night on the strut, anything that adjust on the spring means the lower you go the less travel you have....
The only reason these "cheap" coilovers "went bad" is because they are specific. I say that because this is one of the very few gens that the tie rod ends conect to the strut assembly themselves which puts them at a very high risk of making that noise... js
hey dudes, just a quick question. have the truhart coilovers and when I brought down the car after install the part where the nut hold down the top hat came out of the rubber. how do I fix that?
nice video and Tanya I'd very cute. does anyone else notice that it looks like she rolls her eyes when she looks away from the camera? lol. it's like the cameraman is telling her stop looking and she rolls her eyes thinking yea whatever.
I never understood why my coach didn't want women in our team because we were going to be distracted. Of course we will try to get their attention a little bit but not actually lose focus but now I understand. Tanya was distracting me a lot, had to watch it a second time.
Drilled/slotted rotors on the front - drums on rear. Track-ready all right!
When Walter White helped Anna Kendrick with her Honda.

yes, make sure you use quality coilovers like progress $700 dollar coilovers.......
"High end coilovers" That don't come with new top hats...? Mhmmm..
Just a reminder folks, when ever using impact tools or hammering, wear saftey glasses. Especially when hammering, if a small chip comes off it can take your eye out. I have seen it happen to a friend of mine.
Tanya looks like Anna Kendrick

Loves how evry bolt seems so loose and easy to get..lol
Life is all sunshines and rainbows when you have a lift and an impact wrench
I want to know what low end coilovers they took off.
She drove on these for how many months with them broken??? A real car person. Cucumber fork LMFAO.
Wow, I wish more girls were into cars like she is... It's kinda cool to see these two working, I like it. More of these two!
Aren't you supposed to tighten everything to final torque specs once the suspension is under load!
Damn, i wana see more of that civic shes whippin
That noise sounded like spring binding.. That's what I had.. Charged my top mounts and greased it up and the problem disappeared and mine are budget coilovers..

didn't know Anna Kendricks was also a mechanic.. very talented woman!!
OMG, a women who works on her own car... I think I'm in love!!!
1:55 cucumber fork? that made my day lol
anna kendrick really called it an impact wrench
low quality suspension systems can really put a 'damper' on your driving experience.

It's really not that hard dude. Just looks at the way they are in there. They basically just unbolt, pop out, new ones in, bolt back up, and done.
SETHHIKARU Yea I know how now, but its a lil late cause i sold the car lol
I like the video. However, I am not a fan of the 7th gen civics. Especially with their suspension. I own a 6th gen civic which the the last gen to have double wishbone front system. It has much better adjustability and better handling than the cost saving McPherson strut system.
cucumber lol thats a new one and i never in my life seen a tie rod come off that eazy i mean come on now they used a claw hammer lmfao
More like she needs a rear disk brake conversion!
am i to assume that the top end shock dont go bad.. how long was shock on did u hit a number of pot holes. i hve use cheaper coilover n had no problem.... all u need to do is the right set up for ur car... expensive is not necessarily value for money
Wow! I can't believe this woman looks good doing a job like this. Nice!
Awesome video you guys should get a 4th generation accord
Of course racalands
i have the same problem in my car its not the strut its the strut mount any car will make that sound when the bearings in mount goes bad i dare you to use the same mount in the best coilover/strut it will make the same sound
K-Swap this EM2 already, and a rear disc conversion would hep with the track.
No safety glasses
Great Videos keep them coming.
I didn't know Anna Kendrick could play a mechanic. Nice work!
wearing a white shirt while doing car repairs is never a good idea
haha were they megans? those are super cheap coilover kits
"its terrifying and actually "shocking" " that made me laugh
Watching her work on her car... 😍 Man I think I'm in love! 😍😍
RACELANDS?
Good videos as always!
Is it a real pain in the behind to make sure that your ride height is equivalent at all four corners?
A girl who knows her way around a car
7th gen civics are some of the most Unpopular civics made because of the crap stock motors and lack of aftermarket support/tuning. 6th gen hatches are number 1 IMO.
Regardless I'm glad your doing it right and safe
Very nice civic and very informative, I believe thats the hello kitty civic right
Those were Racelands, right?
it looked like she was rolling her eyes in some of the shots
I never seen someone thanking that apart that easily
I want to lower my 1997 honda accord a few inches. What kind of coil overs should I get?
Hahahahaa, I got a pair of 'Ebay Coil-overs' and had this same problem in my ae92 corolla!!!
Andy's auto sport, im pretty sure my cousins bought body kits from yall like 20yrs ago. lol
Do it nice, or do it twice! (.......but the cucumber fork comment made me spit up my coffee.)
Wow, Maybe we can do work on my car Andy .. I just loved it!! It was funny at some parts, I love the tag team duel, and educational
Great video! Just curious, what brand of "Low End" Coilovers were on the car that failed?
Those look like Racelands
Thats the weirdest tierod mounting location I've ever seen. But thinking about it now it probably reduces bump-steer.
She makes the car look hot!
pretty woman working on a car... what a wonderful world we live in!
N she knows her stuff!
Coil overs and Quick Struts

I was thinking about getting ksport coil overs. About $900. Anyone have any opinions on them?
What's the general opinion on AVO suspension components?
Nice video and btw, make the next upgrade to those rubber brake lines :)
I love it when girls talk cars and know what they are doing. so hot.
Well made video
What's under the good of that EM2? I hate my d17 lol

Looking to install solo werks coilovers on BMW M3 e36 are they any good, or are low end coilovers??
The only reason these "cheap" coilovers "went bad" is because they are specific. I say that because this is one of the very few gens that the tie rod ends conect to the strut assembly themselves which puts them at a very high risk of making that noise... js
I have never worked on a car that clean in my life. I wonder how much washing it had the day before.
Lol, I soooooooo thought that was Anna Kendrick
Dude for real thought that was Anna Kendrick
Just to install my coils you have to cut the spindle
