I don't usual leave comments but I'm from the UK and over here there isn't much info on any American imported vehicles but the guys at Andys Auto Sport have helped me out a lot from watching their videos!
they forgot to mention that you need to remove the tow hitch, but other then that very helpful. already installed my 2 in drop shackles, later on I'm gonna swap leaf springs to give it another 2 in, and then spindles. thanks for the video.
Questions: 1. Did you not grease the new bushings and spindle when you installed them? 2. Does the castle nut on the spindle only have a hand tight torque? 3. What are the typical torque specs for suspension components? P.S. I would of cleaned and freshly coated the frame to match your new shiny suspension components to make a super clean look as well. Great video. Thanks!
On the front, strip everything out of your way and loosen the ball joint nuts just a few turns with the spring still applying pressure and rap the steering knuckle hard with a hammer and usually they will break loose without having to use a pickle fork and messing up your ball joint boots. Then use the spring compressor.
Hey AndysAutoSportTV!!! This is my buddy jarred's truck he treid getting ahold of you actually let you know where the truck is.. And its currently in Central IL getting greatly taken care by a highschooler he loves the truck!
That truck looks good at the end. If it was mine, I'd do a roll pan out back, tint the windows, body color grille with the quad lamp setup and use smoked lights with an HID kit, get rid of the chrome bumper up front and go with a painted bumper and paint it to match, then paint the door handles to match. I see you did mirrors in another episode, I'd paint them to match too. Then take out the factory bench and put in buckets and make a console and a sub box. Oh yeah, and a cowl hood.
When I'm getting a pickup, I'm bringing it to you. 'Cept I don't want the notch kit. Anything that doesn't require drilling or cutting. Just moderate lowering is good enough for me :) Great video!
One more thing I would of replace the rie rod an boljoints you damage them in the process just saying if your going to do the job might as well doit right
Gotta love a loose pocket! Jk! The only thing, I didn't like is cutting the bed.I would rather grind the"Sandwiches" flush with the top off the rail.Seem like the c-notch should be boxed on the inside with maybe that Sandwich plate.O well great job! I love full size short beds!
Awesome video. I have been contemplating a flip kit for my 02 F-150 Harley Edition SuperCrew. Thanks to this video i feel confident in being able to move ahead with it this spring. Thanks Again!!!
definitely a great video. very clear instructions after watching this video I am confident I can do this on my own no problem. really appreciate the video. I will be buying my products from your company.
EXCELLENT VIDEO! I've been wanting to get a C/K1500 2wd and lower it for awhile now, I have done a lot of suspension work already but this filled in the blanks on truck lowering.. My granddad had a 1989 1500 that was lowered about 3-4 with a 383 stroker with a Holley 750CFM double pumper, and custom exhaust from the motor back, AMAZING TRUCK and I miss it so much... Its about time to build my own.
I'm too much of a perfectionist. I would have to high pressure wash all that dirty chassis stuff. Then spray detergent to all the places the pressure washer didn't clean and put a scotch bright to it just enough to rid the dirt but not enough to invite rust. The high pressure wash one more time.
Generally, the rear will be the same, but the front suspension is usually different and can't be lowered as much as a two wheel drive truck. Thanks for watching.
Even though this video is 8 year old it"s very informative !!!! Great video but one thing that they didn't address was that the rear leaf spring shackles are about 2 inches above the trucks frame so when putting the bed back on it will be 2 inches higher in the back of the bed than the front of the bed and this will eventually cause a hole to be worn through the floor of the bed.
Thank you for the advice, I was on your website and I couldn't find the flip kit for my 77 c10. I'm looking to get lowering coils and drop spindles too.
S10 shocks out back would have did the trick for the that inch drop and wouldn't need the shock extender . But man this helped alot with the flip kit review
I have a 1999 4wd 2 door Tahoe. Is there a way to lowering this truck? If so can you give me some tips or a breakdown on what to get please? Thanks for your time!!
your videos are awesome man, I don't even have any use for half the information you give but I still watch every single video just to get some knowledge! thanks (-:
Just watched ur video.step by step instruction Nice. I have a 63 gmc short box step side with a 1972 front end with a 2-1/2 drop spindle on air bags and can't get the bottom of the a frame from hitting the ground. olso have a1983 posi rear on air. the truck rides very rough. Have I missed something in my project or is this just the nature of the beast. I am willing to lose the bags and go back to coils and coil overs if I can get a better ride and keep it low. Any help would be appreciated. Maybe u could do an older truck next Tks.
After watching this iam Definitely gonna research where I take my truck for its 4/6 drop I wish you can do it I don't want just anybody cutting on my frame
Hey... Andy Motor Sport ! Make a video on how to lower any 88 to 99 K1500 or 4WD the proper way please. With all the max drop specs and info. This would help all the non - off road street rolling only 4x4 drivers outhere.
The question that no one asks you how much is all this work ?$$$$ to know how much it cost including parts and labor Thanks and I hope your answer very good job!!!
Thank you! The prices are listed on our site, and installation prices will vary depending on where you live. We produced this video to encourage our customers to install the products themselves and save some money!
Thanks for this info. It helped me a lot in figuring what I want to do with my 1997 Chevy Suburban I just got. It will be an every day ride,....for now. What size wheel and tire are you running? Also will that brand spindle work with most big brake kits if I want to lower it first and do brake conversion later? I notice how some big brake kits come with their own spindle; is there a reason for that?
Hola quiero bajar mi Silverado 92 2" adelante y 4" atrás que me recomiendas y cuáles serían los números de parte? Me podrías ayudar de favor soy de México
Great video it actually motivated me to lower my truck 4 inches in the back and I used the 2 inch lowering spring leaf hanger and the 2 inch lowering shackles and I love the way it came out but on the passenger side the rear shock extender made it uneven so I removed it and now it's 1 quarter off and inch off do you why is that? And I would love to know is there's a way I can fix it thank you
Usuallly, yes. I'm not 100% sure that that's the case for every truck, but usually the axle will end up right against the frame if you don't do a c-notch, so there wouldn't be any suspension travel out back without one. This is definitely true if we're talking about the '88-98 GM fullsize trucks.
Great tutorial, explanation and video on how to lower your truck. I'm doing my research to get my 89 GMC 2WD C1500 slammed for an aggressive stance. I've been thinkin about a 5" front and a 6" or 7" at the rear.
Hi there, I've never lowered a truck before. I'm really a rookie in all this. Okay so I have a 77 c10 that I'm lowering , do I use a flip kit or lowering blocks? my axle is sitting under the leaf springs.
Nice video. This is my second video I watched on your channel. I always wondered about leaf springs and how those would be removed. I don't have a truck but it's nice to see this stuff in a clear manner. Cutting the bed frame though, that's hard to watch. lol. Like you said that seem to just weakened it. Great videos though.
Very informative video, and would love to do this on one of my trucks a 1979 c10. But I'm afraid I'm just not mechanically inclined to take on such a job as you just preformed. Very interesting video though, thank you.
Thanks for the compliment Rhoads! A lot of people wouldn't do the work themselves actually. Many of our customers, if not most, take it to a local shop to have them do the installation.
NIce Truck and video! Came out great. I have a question I recently lowered my 91 chevrolet 5/7 and although it has a c notch it seems to still be a bumpy ride. what can i do to get a smoother ride?
Thanks! How big of a notch did you install? If it's a regular c-notch, you might not have enough axle clearance. The Western Chassis Super C Notch that we used goes almost to the top of the stock frame, so there's plenty of clearance. Thanks for watching!
Great video. Any suggestions on where to find a straight axle lowering kit for a 61 F-100 Unibody? I have a leaf spring kit from eibach for the rear, from a newer truck. I am going to weld in attaching components. What I am having trouble with is a straight axle option. I don't want a new crossmember or contol arm suspension. I think the dropped straight axle would be excellent. Know any suppliers?
I wonder which used in this vide kit or if I could help I need for my 1998 Chevy pickup Silverado, Regular cab short bed, 5x8 wheels, I know what the kit I recommend to lower it 5/7. Looking forward to your help.
Great video and very informative. I didn't see you use a pinion angle shim for the flip kit. How do you know if you need one? I have a 1984 C10 I want to eventually lower maybe a 3/4.
If your truck has got mileage you should budget for ball joints and control arm bushings. It will save you from doing the job twice. Excellent video.
i dont own a truck and doubt i ever will , but this video was gripping and insightful from start to finish !
I don't usual leave comments but I'm from the UK and over here there isn't much info on any American imported vehicles but the guys at Andys Auto Sport have helped me out a lot from watching their videos!

BEST VIDEO I'VE SEEN ON HOW TO LOWER TRUCKS....SPECIALLY CHEVY. Great job
Hey AndysAutoSportTV!!! This is my buddy jarred's truck he treid getting ahold of you actually let you know where the truck is.. And its currently in Central IL getting greatly taken care by a highschooler he loves the truck!
Awesome, great to hear!

this is just what i am looking for. I have a 72 LWB chevy c10 and has the leaf spring so i will be ordering this set up soon
Good video, I would say the best video on how to install a flip kit.
I whould off hold that caliper with something like rope or bungy cord you can damage the break line
One more thing I would of replace the rie rod an boljoints you damage them in the process just saying if your going to do the job might as well doit right

one of the best video ever how to explain to drop a truck...perfect!
Is it absolutely necessary to remove the bed when installing a drop? That seems like the worst part of it.
best video on the topic
iv only watched 6 minutes of this video and i have learned soo much.. definatley answered some questions i had
definitely a great video. very clear instructions after watching this video I am confident I can do this on my own no problem. really appreciate the video. I will be buying my products from your company.
Best video I’ve seen on this process!! Nice job
Very detailed video. That's the correct way to lower a truck. I'm really impressed
EXCELLENT VIDEO! I've been wanting to get a C/K1500 2wd and lower it for awhile now, I have done a lot of suspension work already but this filled in the blanks on truck lowering.. so this is what Walter White did after leaving New Mexico
Generally, the rear will be the same, but the front suspension is usually different and can't be lowered as much as a two wheel drive truck. Thanks for watching.

Always clean and pack wheel bearings, new grease seals, silicone around grease cup seal.
Thanks for showing us really good and good lights
I've never learned so much from one video.
Nice video. Basically a tutorial, you made all that work look easy. 👍 Now I only need the cash and the time to do this by myself to my Silverado lol.
Thank you for the advice, I was on your website and I couldn't find the flip kit for my 77 c10. I'm looking to get lowering coils and drop spindles too.
So that's were 2Pac went.
S10 shocks out back would have did the trick for the that inch drop and wouldn't need the shock extender . But man this helped alot with the flip kit review
From living in the northern part of the county, all I kept thinking through this video was...damn, that's a non-rusty truck lol
Awesomeness overload
I have a 1999 4wd 2 door Tahoe. Is there a way to lowering this truck? If so can you give me some tips or a breakdown on what to get please? Thanks for your time!!
Hi Javier! Unfortunately I don't know of any lowering kits available for the 4wd. Sorry about that man!
your videos are awesome man, I don't even have any use for half the information you give but I still watch every single video just to get some knowledge! thanks (-:
Amazing job explaining it all especially the c notch for the rearend
Just watched ur video.step by step instruction Nice. I'm expecting to see more time videos of the end result as a whole truck with wheels. Excellent video though from a novice perspective like me.

wonder why he didn't add grease to the new drop spindle when putting the rotor back on. Other than that is was a great video

Great video.
Thank you for your time!
The video is great but I absolutely can not find the Western chassis super c notch that you used anywhere for sale. Where can I find it?
