Jocko man you probably might never read this but I have to say thank you. I recently went through some things that I normally would react a certain way to but I’ve been listening to your podcasts for awhile now and it’s like I can step out side of (said) problem and analyze a situation more appropriately and I feel like it’s helped me in how I deal with certain things like this one issue more effectively. Guess what I’m trying to say is your podcasts has helped me make better decisions, analyze things better. I feel like there’s a lot of Gurus and self help people out there and people screaming at the top of there lungs and that’s great as they have there place in the world too but, listening to you has helped me in my day to day life as your not yelling and screaming your talking to motivate your audience which for myself I’m seeing can be even more effective as your approach I feel like appeals more to a persons logical mind versus feelings which is what you get with motivational speeches or podcasts. I thought I knew what discipline was but listening to you and Echo Charles, I am learning to apply a lot of you guys advice to my life and being more disciplined in the areas that I need to become a better Human.Sorry for such a long post but to you and Echo I just have to say thank you. My life is really spiraling out of control but for once I am starting to feel like I can grab the wheel and take control of the veichle which is me.Keep up the great work guys, I started listening to you guys on TH-cam and now I’m signing up to the website.Godbless you both and again thank you for all you guys do.

You have absolutely got the best attitude I think I’ve ever heard. I’ve always tried to keep an open mind and completely be humble. My friends asked me why I don’t compete anymore. I have nothing to prove I always end by saying I wouldn’t even fight a 13 year older now I don’t want to take a chance on getting hurt that’s not to say I still don’t have confidence, but it 51 years old I’ve grown by being humble. With nothing to prove, I love your attitude.

Being humble isn't about being relentlessly self denigrating. It's about knowing your actual place in the world. If you're the worlds greatest at something, it's OK to tell people "Hey. I'm literally the world's greatest at this thing." That's STILL being humble.
But most of the time you don't know if you are or not. Or you definitely know you're not. And you act from there.

Being honest about self assessment and viewing that assessment as a temporary check-in leaves you open for improvement. The numbers are constantly changing, you just have to focus on the ones you want to go up and then assess again.

Many-y years ago - I **habitually** sparred with more accomplished belts than myself -
    That was my preference though
MOST OF TIME I WALKED AWAY LOSING AND IN PAIN.
BUT I **LOVED** THE CHALLENGE! - that's also how I got better. 😉👍

Best part of jiu jitsu is u can tap and start all over. Lots of other martial arts deters many people do to the inevitably of pain. While jiu jitsu isn’t like sitting in a couch. Just the thought of being able to tap and restart makes a lot of people stick to it and get better.

If you know you’re going to lose, then you’re guaranteed to learn a lesson, something new you didn’t know before. Losing gets such a bad name, losing is the best teacher, but for some reason, people get all up in their feelings about it. If you make a financial mistake, you know to never do it again. If you get beat up, you know how to not get beat up next time, or at least reduce the chances of it. If you lose a friend or partner, you know what not to do, or you know what to look out for next time so you never get in that situation again. I could go on…

Most people are not going to scrap with a ten times jiujitsu world champion and live. Maybe he meant to say they were about to roll but seriously most people never meet even a single time world champion at anything, and if they do meet one fighting the champion isn't part of their thought process 🤔🤦‍♂️🤣

Oh, Timmy doesn't know the answer,

I have an incredible amount of respect for the soldiers (serving in any army) because to offer your safety and life to protect the safety and lives of others is utterly selfless.
However - can you honestly say that you agree with reasons given behind the the wars in which your employers have sent you and your friends to fight?
Have you never questioned why it is always you and your colleagues doing the travelling for the fights?
As i said at the start - I do not think the blame lies at your feet - but you are the guys that know what really goes on - is there any way that the puppet masters will change their tunes?
Or will greed continue to rule?
I have read your book - and seems like your bosses are also pretty unconcerned with making sure their own soldiers are OK.
