Given that Jon hid this for a year and he's acting as if he has done nothing wrong I don't think he can honestly call himself vegan. If he can't recognize that what he did was wrong then clearly he does not agree with the ethical principals of veganism.
I loved how he, the non-vegan, tried to define veganism for us.
I think if we can forgive VG for eating cheese (he uploaded a video once where he was eating Jasmine's toe-cheese), we can forgive Venus for eating eggs once. I mean he came clean and stopped. He could have easily just quit veganism and went vegetarian.

I support vegan gains, but when I was a kid 13 years of my life was on farms and we had about 70 chickens on 300acres and they would just walk around and we wouldn’t kill the roosters and we wouldn’t kill old hens we would try to give them as much loves until they passed. As a kid I felt bad for taking there hard earned eggs so I would catch grasshoppers and feed them all treats😂😂😂
I have 3 hens rescued from a "humane" egg farm. Their beaks weren't cut, they free-ranged all day; they were even certified therapy birds at the farm. They had some of the happiest lives out of all chickens, but their brothers were killed, they were about to be killed because their laying decreased, and now they suffer from terrible reproductive issues. My Birdy Charlotte needed a $2,000 surgery to get her reproductive tract removed because it was full of just over 2 pounds of impacted egg material. Her tract was tearing and about to burst. Her body is 7 pounds and she's so sweet. 😢 Eating eggs is NEVER ok!

Whereas Richard has always been certain in his healthiness as a vegan, Jon has expressed that he had doubts at times. I too have had my doubts at times, and have even contemplated how I would live if I absolutely did have to consume some animal tissues ('tissues' includes lactations and ovulations), so I can sympathize with him there; however, I have not personally 'experimented' with consuming animal tissues (5 years vegan almost to the day), and I don't intend to. Jon, however, has admitted to consuming 12 chicken eggs roughly 1 year ago as an experiment that produced no health benefit; though it is admirable that he has gone the way of honesty (seemingly) on this matter, it is still worthy of some chastising in my opinion. Regardless, I have a ton of respect for both Jon and Richard in their own regards. I think Richard is especially dramatic in his confrontational response, but the backbone of his channel has always been rooted in drama and conflict (albeit passionate about animal welfare); I actually laugh a little when watching this because it's almost like it's scripted drama that makes me want to see who says what next. As for Jon, he softly acknowledged that he did something wrong roughly a year later, and deserves to have his feet held to the fire a bit. I think he's still vegan, but maybe he should only say he's been vegan for 1 year straight at this time. As a positive, it does serve as a public record for people researching veganism to see someone with Jon's physique say that he tried eating eggs again after 4 years, but found it gave him no health benefit, and he did not continue to consume them.

Being from Portugal, I grew up in a farm where we have chickens that lay eggs and we don't kill them... And Jon is actually right when he say hate with hate has never worked. Obviously he felt insecure and ate eggs, but i think it is enough with the roast.

2:10 he didn’t specify that the eggs were from produced through an “industrial” process. I have friends who own their own chicken, they’re looked after and given good lives and in return they take the eggs they produce. Thats what i imagine Venus was talking about, nothing unethical about that and if i had a garden I would definitely do it too.
