    The fumed oak furniture would do well here in So.Cal. By the way, describing those prints as run of the mill was incredibly generous of you.

    In college, I made money by sewing for people in my dorm. I sewed for a girl whose mother worked at a Pendleton factory. They bought mill ends by the pound, and I sewed lots of jackets and stuff. She also let me have a lot of pieces that she didn’t want. To this day, I love Pendleton! Sadly, the factory and the outlet store have moved

I love what You said, "It's not something I really do, but somebody should!" So true!! I really like Your Helper showing The Buttonholer with such finesse!!🤓 And, with the boy and girl prints, I agree, "What does she want, he's trying to be sweet to her, geewhiz."😅 I could have spent half a day in that consignment shop, WoW!! When you mentioned the 2000s ceramics having that felt design on the bottom, it is from pushing the ceramic slab of clay through a roller to flatten it! It has a thick cloth on it, and it would make that imprint. At least the one I used to use made that same exact imprint. Its used to create an even thin piece of ceramic, just like the funky looking mermaid piece.

    Good evening, George! I liked that English wardrobe and the French table. I have one of the Victorian candlestand dressers...out in the garage. No place to put it in the house. Loved the aisle with the Eastlake dresser and washstands. I liked the toy tractor next to the McCoy wishing well. I actually liked that bagpiper shag carpet. I would've bought the Session clock. I have several keys lying about, too. The German wall clock was a nice one, too. I have a thing for old, striking clocks. Never seen a hat like that! I like that oak secretary desk. My aunt has one of the Jim Beam "Penny" poodle decanters. Love the lead soldiers. I have a complete set of "The Rose" lead chess pieces, still in the original box, from England. I hate when people paint old furniture. Arrgghhh...I wish I still had my cast iron kettle! I sold it when I moved here and have regretted it ever since. That German child's dish would've tempted me...kind of liked that. The hall tree was really nice, and the slimmer profile would be easier to situate than some of the ones with the seats on them. Those places would be fun to browse...never know what you might come across in them. Thanks for the take-along!!!!!

    • @TheAntiqueNomad
      @TheAntiqueNomad  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I should have bought the Session clock! I usually don't feature so much furniture, but there were good deals on true antique pieces and I thought they deserved attention. Did you make a big move? Cast iron is a hard collector to transport. I did really like the hall tree and might go back for it. Thank you for coming along, it's fun to show some of the places like this dealers go to source!

    • @CONSTELLATION_PEGASUS
      @CONSTELLATION_PEGASUS 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheAntiqueNomad I don't even have anywhere to put another clock, but I would've had to have got that Sessions one. The pieces of furniture were well worth showcasing! After my dad died, I moved here with mom to help take care of her. I had a 5000 sq. ft. house...packed with antiques. Her house is about half that size, and we had to combine the two. All of us have collected antiques as long as I've been alive, so there was a lot that had to be sacrificed, by mom and myself. She sold some things I wish were still here, too. That hall tree would definitely be worth getting. The size and its slimmer profile would make it appealing to anyone that has a limited space. It's really fun to take these tour with you!!! I can't leave Mother for long periods of time, so these premiers keep me "in the loop".

      Never-Dull, Mother's Mag Wheel Polish or any similar wadding cloth is the best place to start. That bowl was very heavily marked, that one would've been a real job!

    14:50 The stuff in the boxes...whatever. If my friend Dennis saw the boxes he'd want them for the stickers. 22:43 To get that brown out, soak in beauty supply-grade hydrogen peroxide. It does work, but it's not cheap; do it on Grandma's dishes and not things for resale.

    The ‘84 World’s Fair was a political & economic fiasco, but combined with the historic tax credits, the fair played an important role in the revitalization of the NOLA warehouse district. So it wasn’t all bad. Lol.

    • @prophouse504
      @prophouse504 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheAntiqueNomad a lot of the fair was on the riverfront in the building that is now the Riverwalk (outlet mall). But the warehouse district housed portions of the fair. The building where the Vatican exhibit was remains. The monorail terminated in the Cotton Mill - the beer garden - now apartments. Properties were owned by a hand full of owners, of corse. Today there is scant trace of the blight that once was “skid row.”

    My grandmother had a blanket chest that PA Dutch. Black with red painting. My Mother painted in the 80 and every time I think about her doing that it makes me want to cry. Is there any way that blue oil pant could come off and the original paint survived? Or has she ruined it forever?

    • @TheAntiqueNomad
      @TheAntiqueNomad  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's hard to say, oil paint is especially difficult to remove sometimes. I would contact a paint store, a furniture restorer and a museum with that question, compare answers and then decide what to do.

      I was living in the Tri Cities, WA when Mt.St.Helens arupted. The wind blew a lot of the ash our way, covering our cars,etc. There were drifts of it that looked like snow. I was thinking at the time someone could make some money if they could figure out what to do with it. I laughed at the little bottles of ash they sold to tourists when I could scoop the stuff up by the bucket full if I had wanted...maybe I could have made some money if I was a little smarter! 😅
