Today, I Almost MISSED IT at ALOLV!, Assistance League of Las Vegas....thrift with me and find out exactly what it is.......
Hello Everyone! Its Tiffany with Thrifting Vegas. I shop at thrift stores, estate sales, garage sales and discount stores for items I can resell for a profit on online platforms like eBay, Poshmark and Offer-Up.
Its Tuesday morning and I'm visiting the Assistance League of Las Vegas Thrift Store for the first time in over a year! They have expanded and remodeled the store, and its no wonder they have won a Best of Las Vegas Award five years in a row, its absolutely fantastic! I filled my cart with some amazing treasures and interesting curiosities that I need your help in identifying. Thrift with me and learn what to bolo and what to leave on the shelf and why. I found a gorgeous Cala Lily candle holder, a Merry Mushroom cooking pot, a stunning blown glass oil burner, a Martin Clunes "Doc Martin" Bobblehead, two Crate and Barrel Sea Urchin vases, a vintage onyx bird lamp and much, much more!! Stay to see everything I purchased in my haul where my sleepy Tuxedo Kitty Bandit takes a nap in the take home box from Goodwill. I found a Glassy Baby! 1.99 at a local thrift store! Believe was the name! It was brand new, never used, still had original sticker on the bottom!

I live here in Vegas, and as soon as I saw that video, I went to the Goodwill and it was still there. I was so happy to get it. Even though you disappointed one person, you made another very happy. I had the complete set of the mushroom pots and pans even the tea kettle. Gave them all to a young couple just starting out. I lost touch with them. But I know she loved them and yes it was the 70's.
I believe your vintage hatpin holder. Is a hors d'oerve holder, it fit on a flat wood platter, the center hole fit a wood peg in the center or the platter. You stick cheese or other on toothpicks and place them in the holes on the wood orb. In the center of a platter, the crackers, or other go around the raise toothpick holder.
FYI-the blue glass oil burner is marked Mt. Saint Helens. Some artists use ashes from the volcano eruption in their glass works. That's what the white dots are on the surface. :)
39:46 That is a souvenir item from Wuxi, near Shanghai, China. The characters represent the name in Chinese. The flowers are plum blossoms. Cherry blossoms have spikes at the tip of each petal, while plum petals are round. Traditionally, the Chinese have favored plum blossoms, and the Japanese cherry blossoms.

A single candle looks nice on a small table with some flowers. A single hand blown drinking glass would look wonderful with flowers in it or put some sand and a candle. I also mix different candle holders together. They look nice. Thank you for your videos!! Love all that you do, sharing Bear and cats.

What a beautiful store! Prices make it just a bit hard for you as a reseller, but for somebody buying for their own home, for gifts, etc, it’s a wonderful treasure trove!! Thanks for taking us with you there.
The round wooden ball with the holes was originally attached to a round wooden tray. The holes are for toothpicks holding hors d’oeuvres. The tray could hold either more hors d’oeuvres on crackers, crackers and cheese cubes, etc or small cocktail napkins and other things. I think it might have been made of myrtlewood? My grandmother had one when I was a child and it was passed on to us. I’m not sure what happened to it. My favorite was when my mother put cocktail shrimps on toothpicks and the tray held small dishes of cocktail sauce and other sauces along with crackers.
ETA: the ball wasn’t attached in the center. It sat off to one side along the edge leaving the tray almost entirely free.
Hi Tiffany. Unless the pottery piece you like had a $18.00 price sticker on it, the bottom actually said '81 for the year.
Loved seeing you shop at ALOLV instead of GW. The silk says "WUXI" which is a Province in mainland China known for painted textile art and pottery. The love bird onyx lamp is exquisite. The brass design stamps appear to be wax seals,, but without the handle the would be inserted for use; not sure why so many, unless someone bought out the whole stock from a stationary store.

I agree on seals used with a press for stationary for those round items; also I think that's a round hot pad holder instead of multi-candle holder lol. Enjoy your videos very much, thank you! I am trying to learn about Glasswear marks:)

The mushrooms with the red caps and white flecks are indeed mushrooms called Amanita Muscaria, and they are very poisonous.

Tiffany, I live in upper Michigan and am jelly of ur Temps there. It is 38 degrees here. Very cold at night with snow still.... I think Mother Nature might be drunk lately and blacked out for all spring....lol

I have an update on the mushroom pans. I ran into the "young"lady I gave my set to. She's still using them and the little 4 year old she had at the time just turned 40!!! I feel so old.

I really enjoyed visiting a new thrift shop with you. The Assistance League Thrift Shop is beautiful! I love the way that they display the china sets. What a brilliant idea!

Don't remember ever going thru this store before. Its more interesting than going thru Goodwill. Their stock looks alot better & the store seems cleaner. You found alot of nice things. I really like the lamp w/ the stone birds !

Hugs to you. I was also my dear husband's caretaker. I know how challenging it can be. Sadly I lost him in October 2019. We made the very best of a tough situation so I am fortunate to have some nice memories even so. Take care of yourself so you can remain strong.
Hugs n Prayers for you🌻 I was a caregiver for my Sweet Momma❤ We moved her in 6yrs ago. She had Dementia. I also was for my Sis who never had children or married. we moved her 4 blocks from us. So my hubby and I could see to her. She passed July 26th then Momma passed 2wks later. I had 3 flea market booths and went to auctions n sales before moving Mom in. I just couldn't put the time needed to have them. I love vintage jewelry. My Dad could look at glassware and tell you exactly what it was and value. I wish I had learned more. But I am learning from Wonderful Tiffany and a few other channels. I have been buying at a Goodwill 28miles from me. And I will start with a showcase and work my way up to other selling. I can't wait for yard sales here. But we have had too much rain n cool temperatures. TAKE TIME to Take a Deep Breath. I think Caregivers are AMAZING. 🌻

I just have to tell you about my mixed jewelry bag from Thrift here in St. Pete. for $40. Found 14K Tennis Bracelet w/1/3 caret crystals. My jeweler valued at $550! Wow. Thank you for helping me so much.

2nd comment- just fyi- my ex husband is a stained glass artist & he recently told me that pink glass is getting more & more difficult to find & when he does, it's incredibly expensive. He said the reason this is happening is because the chemical they use to color the glass pink, selenium, is imported from Russia & since the US has sanctioned it's dealings with Russia, pink glass is sold out in most glass stores. Just thought I'd let you know. I know I am buying any pink glass I find right now:)

Wonderful organization!!! Nice store, beautiful merchandise!! WOW!!! I notice how "clean" and sparkling the glass shelves are, and the merchandise looks in near new condition. Just wonderful.
I believe your blue and brown “toothbrush holder” is a pipe stand. My dad used to smoke pipes and he had a similar item where his pipes stood, bowl down and stem in the little slots.

Hi, I just love your videos. As many have said before your voice is very calming. The 3 ring blue candle holder is just like the ones I had growing up in Germany. You use it for childrens birthday parties. You put one candle for the age of the child and the middle disk also takes a candle, usually a taller one. We called it the "life candle" and let it burn until the birthday cake etc. was done. We did not put candles into cakes in those days. This was in the 50's - I don't know if its still used today. PS. The candles should not be the tapered ones, just some thin short ones, but bigger than "cake" candles and the toadstools are a symbol of GOOD LUCK (Glueckspilz). Just thought you might want to know.

I was going to suggest that; only because my uncle smoked pipes and it resembled a pipe holder he had when I was a kid.

Really lovely pieces
Hi Tiffany, the pottery piece with the cutouts around the top looks like a teaspoon holder that was in fashion around 30 years ago with potter's in Australia. You would help yourself to a teaspoon when you had been given a tea or coffee to add your own sugar and after you had finished with your spoon you would put it in the middle. I loved all the wonderful things in that shop they were great.

I believe those pink wine glasses were what Harlequin Romance gave away as gifts. For the longest time I thought they were unmarked, but very hard to see is a capital “L” in script at the very bottom center of the base. It stands for Libbey, the manufacturer.
Design stamps, I believe we’re stamped into warm wax dripped onto the back of a letter. There usually a small post or handle to press those discs into the wax. But I could be wrong. 🤔
This place is really nice and I wish there was one around me. They set it up as a high end store. Thank you for sharing this place with us.
The ladies at the Assistance League are always so sweet and friendly. And during the holidays they open up a whole other area full of Christmas and holiday items.
I am sooo envious of your thrift store shopping items! I've seen you walk right past the things that make me drool as they're not in your genre of sellable items. I love everything Star Trek, and all of those colored hinged lid jars, canisters, and bottles! My local thrift stores are over priced and full of worn out and chipped things. I drive at least an hour in all four directions to have better luck thrifting. Thank you for sharing your shopping trips with all of us! I always feel like I'm shopping with you, and you stop and look at almost everything that I always stop for too. lol

Hi Tiffany! The stamped coins look like they would have been used for wax seals. Like when you close up an envelope and you put a spot of melted wax over it then you take a decorative stamp and stamp into the wet wax To seal the envelope.

Great thrift store , gotta love the mushroom pot and only $2. Some really great finds. So very glad to see Bandit and have a lovely visit in with him. The AL store in your area is absolutely beautiful! My daughter and I have made it our weekly "thing" to shop at the AL store here in Hawaii. I can't begin to tell you how many wonderful vintage collectables we've found there. Our store isn't as fancy, but I love it because the person in charge of pricing seems to be
unaware of the value of most of their donated collectables. I've purchased a lot of amazing vintage items at well below Goodwill prices. Your AL store has a lot of beautiful collectables, but the prices make it impossible for a reseller to make any money. You really had to look hard for a good bargain there. Although, I do agree that they do a lot of wonderful things for their community.
There is so much here to decorate your home nicely in good taste.
What great finds. You do have an older piece of Chinese Shiwan earthenware in your haul. It's the green-glazed 'candlestick, which is actually an oil lamp made sometime in the late nineteenth or early 20th centuries.
Are you talking about the green uneven candlestick that looked kind f beat up? Geez, it must be worth $$$ if it’s as old as you say and it’s Chinese. Thx for the interesting info.
