  • Incredible VINTAGE BARGAINS From ESTATE SALES to ANTIQUE SHOW
We're traveling west to shop Portland, Oregon's ‪@rosecityvintagemarket4294‬, and it's half-off day at the estate sales in Kansas City, Missouri! With bargains better than the Goodwill thrift stores, will all the best stuff be gone? Is there anything worth buying to flip for a profit?
We're hedging our bets by picking the three sales that had a lot of little items that seemed like vintage collector (and one hoarder) houses. Number one is a newer suburban home, but the family there left behind some fun housewares from the mid-century...our choices include some kids' stuff, a 1940s costume jewelry pin and a few other goodies, $60 worth of stuff for just $19!
Inspired, we backtrack through the country to a secluded roadside home whose mild front belies a hoard of more than figural proportions! We comb this one thoroughly, taking a double pass as we pile up 1940s Disney and Shawnee ceramics, linens, mirrors, books, barware and even a box of razors...all for $25! (It pays to go to the sales marked "Private Seller" sometimes.)
Our last stop is still surprisingly packed when we arrive, just in time for it all to go 60% off! We swamp the hold table with Pierrot pottery, old English chintz, and a hibiscus-wearing bust that's misplaced in the Midwest, but potentially worth a lot at the Portland antique show!
We wrap up with a haul of these fantastic bargains (below thrift store prices, 40 items at $3.50 average price)...can't wait to see how they do at Rose City Vintage Market this weekend!

He is absolutely right! At the shop I worked in I would tell folks the same thing! I did it myself! I would have spent so much money at that “hoarder” sale… I’m curious we’re you being extra picky or was most of it on the lessor quality side??

George read my comment I left on the Rose City short. It’s about your textile silk embroidery. I saw on recent Antique Road Show it’s very valuable up to $30,000. I left details on that comment. Good luck George , I’ll be thinking of you. ❤

I swear I have champagne taste. The Polynesian girl caught my eye immediately. And I was pleased to hear you say she was the best piece on that table. (I made the hobbiest version of her in the 70’s, and every time I made one, I ended up selling her to someone who made me an offer. Then I’d go make another one - then sell, rinse, repeat. I somehow ended up without one for myself).

Lucky duck - multiple estate sales that don't involve sellers I avoid at all costs! The quilt was a Lone Star, and not ancient. For $30 it's dirt cheap considering the work involved. For resale...nope. I feel sorry for the estate runner at the second sale. Tons of stuff to clean and set up and most of it not worth the effort. The third one had some interesting bits. 29:20 I have some of those mugs. Use them too. Stuff does turn up. I found a painted bronze, signed and numbered, on the second day of a sale... $5. It's a cousin's wedding present!

    • @TheAntiqueNomad
      @TheAntiqueNomad  ปีที่แล้ว +1

I was glad for that, you never know when you're estate sale-ing in a new area! I knew the quilt was too new for me for the price, but cheap enough to use. The second sale...well yes, so much was low quality but we all bought all we could to help, prices were cheap. What a great find on the bronze!

Boy do I remember that album! We don't have many half price days at estate sales. Most of our estate sales have gone to online auctions - which makes more money. It is sad. I really miss live sales. We don't get to go to many

Good thought about color, hard to find some shades in some older lines. That is a memorable album! Online auctions don’t really make more money but they’re easier for the sellers so they like them. So much sells in lots that they leave a lot on the table

Good evening, George! I liked that cocktail set, but there was a shot glass missing. I can accept some of the gold being missing...shows it was actually used. I would've definitely bought the old galvanised gas can. I have one here, but the small cap is missing on it. I liked all those table linens. I would've gone ape-$**+ on those clocks. Loved those! The old German china pieces always catch my eye, but the floral patterns don't seem to do as well as they used to. Mother used to have a complete set of the Spode Christmas Tree, form England. She sold is years ago...never used it. I've noticed the repro R S Prussia pieces are actually selling for good money...not my thing. That was a steal on the Royal Winton Chintz! Definitely would've bought the portrait plates. Those would be great gifts for mom. She loves the portrait china pieces. Those were some really good estate sales! Thanks for the take-along!!!

Hi there! I would be glad to help. I do single item appraisals on my website, theantiquenomad.com; but if you have a lot, it would be more cost effective for us to arrange a Face Time call by phone so you can show me a lot in a short time. You may email me at theantiquenomad@gmail.com if you like

Great finds! In florida it was illegal for us to sell disability license plates. Still is. Cause people slap them on their cars! Ha ha

Me and my mom went to an estate sale a few yrs ago and bought a Hull Little Red Riding hood cookie jar we were so excited about getting it. I also so got a Hull green basket. Since it's my last name it would be nice to see if we are related. Where is or was at so we can go and check it out. So what do you recommend to hang plates on the wall with? In Kansas or Missouri. 😊

Hull was in Ohio, near where Fiesta is made now. I use plastic plate hangers without springs so they don't put pressure on the rims

George, in the 50s we little girls wanted to be ‘beauty operators’ so we had to practice our hair styling and cutting skills on our dolls. My dolls were a real mess so I went to college.

Since I found your channel and some others, it takes me back about 25-30 years when my husband and I did antique shopping, and we had our own things we would hunt for. Now I have my grandmas mid century chamber pot, which is unlike any I have yet to see and I can’t believe how little they are selling for! We had special things we looked for, and now I never seem them on any videos, so I guess every 5-6 years or so things and fads change, I am not able to get out and look for things any more, but I am reliving it thru you and the others, so thank you so much for putting these on here!
