GB Camera/Printer: The GB Camera was literally the most popular digital camera in the world when it debuted. Literally everyone I knew had one, and the fact that they came in different colors was kind of a playground point of pride. The printer also didn't have ink, it was thermal contact paper. While yes, if you've kept yours in storage for years, it'll print very faintly and smudgy, if at all, at the time it was quite the novelty. My dad actually took the photos I made and put them in his office.
Steel Battalion: This game was never marketed as a game for everyone, at all. In fact, in the mech sim community, it's the holy grail. I remember going to an Armored Core tournament and having everyone just stop and stare when one of the players busted it out after the action.
DJ Hero: Was actually a pretty fun game, and I like the mixes they had. Gimmicky as hell, but it did work, and it was fun.

The weirdest peripheral I ever owned was the standard controller for the ColecoVision when I was a kid in the early 80's. The weird number pad was a pain to use and the 2 buttons, one on either side just below the joystick made it hard to play for extended times due to hand cramps. But, it introduced me to Mario and Donkey Kong and helped me find a real appreciation for the NES controller when it came out in 1986.

Nintendo blew the market away with the NES in 85 and a controller with a D pad and 2 buttons. the evolution of games have advanced in the past 40 years with games, memory, processor and graphics. The biggest fail is re-inventing the controller trying to be more advanced but all have flopped. You can advance the systems, graphics but stick to the original control design with 1 D pad, 2 thumb sticks and just 6 - 8 buttons; Thats all we NEED!

Only products I remember from this video are the game boy camera and the skateboard for the Tony Hawk game. I don’t think I’d even heard of the other products until this video.

Dude, it may have failed, but as a kid, i dug the 32x and the gameboy accessories. We played the shit out of the printer. Took it too school and at recess. Good times.

No B.O.B.? That was the original completely over-priced useless plastic add on that only really "worked" with one game - gyromite, and that game sucked even with normal controllers, let alone BOB dumping spinning tops everywhere but their destination.

I remember the steel battalion controller. it was inundating and overwhelmingly impressive.
Just to launch the mech to play, you had to use a sequence of buttons. It was cool just for that controller. But not worth the value considering it only worked for one game.

I know its only an honorable mention, but the DJ Hero controller wasn't that bad. I had a friend who had it back in college and it wasn't too ridiculous. You just had to get the hang of it. A little wonky at first, but it got comfortable after some playtime.

What was the console that had a camera facing you and used your movements as a controller? You put the camera up on the TV.

I had the Gameboy camera with the printer, loved it as a kid. Also dj hero was so fun. Wanted to get steel battalion when I was in high school, never got the $200 to buy it. Lastly my sister and I loved guitar hero and she had the guitar hero for DS with that adapter.
