    Stock original exhaust beats all other exhaust sounds. I enjoy the trombones on my V max

    My bike is identical. I am in love with it but have learned never to open it up unless theres an awful lot of nothin as far as the eye can see. Thats because it has a tendancy to eliminate all space between objects like some kind of crazy time machine. Seeing this one im now glad i didnt trash my stock exhaust when i opted for the Cobra system. 4 into 4 instead of 2 into 4. Stock looks good too!!! Only thing im considering now is drag bars ...but doubt i will bother. VMax and Mopar. Nothin more needs sayin when youre busy doin. Cheers!

    After drilling out to 5/8 inch replace end caps with longer pop rivets and space them off the end of the silencer with some 6 mm nuts (10mm A/F). Did this to mine the first set and the second set of exhausts did not mod carbs as they are constant depression so are to a degree self adjusting. Got 3 bhp more at the back wheel

    Some one already did this mod to my 2005. They drilled 1/2 holes, I'm craving a UFO quadzilla system now. I don't care about claimed HP increases... I just want to set off car alarms ;))

    They should rename this video: how to ruin a perfectly good set of Vmax exhaust pipes.

      His bike he can do what he wants, all you need to do is rivet the plate back on and they look stock again, plate covers the drilled holes, no one would know.

  • @32mattg
    @32mattg 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Sorry for the noob reply: How do you take off the first plate, you just drill a few holes with a drill bit and then wiggle it off? Also how much louder does this mod make the bike - Is it noticeable or not that much (because the stock pipes are extremely silent)

    • @treezy8769
      @treezy8769  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Drill out the rivets with a small drill bit, it's a noticeable increase in volume, but not loud

    Has this method impact on the performance?
    Must be synchronization between carburetor?
    Please reply ... Thanks

    What do you do with all the metal shavings? Do you just leave them in the muffler and hope they blow out?

      At worst they would just sit at the bottom.

    I'm a big fan of the large, stock pipes (but not their sound). I think they are a huge part of the V-Max's iconic look. Drilling them out is a perfect compromise. But by far the most significant feature of the V-Max's iconic look are the scoops. I have no idea why Yamaha chose to black out 50% of the scoops on later models of the Gen 1. Wrong direction. Should have chromed them instead! The scoops are bold, which was the whole idea. Muting them was a violation of the V-Max's honor.

      I completely agree!

  • @keithmcnasty3506
    @keithmcnasty3506 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I dont think that's the V-boost cycling, its just the fuel pump priming the carbs. Good stuff tho, always nice to see vids of Max's whatever they are. I hope to see more.

    • @Wujiboy
      @Wujiboy 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It is the vboost self check your hearing, the fuel pump makes a clicking sound that you also hear.

      @@keithmcnasty3506 I wasn't trying to be nasty you obviously misunderstood what I wrote. I fail to see how what I wrote is being disrespectful? I had no ill intentions just wanted to help clarify that the vboost does do a self check each time the ignition is switched on. On that note I do believe your reply was a bit harsh, especially when the written word is easy to misinterpret. Perhaps you can explain to me how what I wrote is disrespectful? I'd be happy to edit the comment. Like you I love the Vmax and I treasure mine so I often search youtube for interesting videos about the bike and would love to see more of them.

    Please don't do AM exhaust. Keep the stock look of the bike. That is the way they look the best

    Is that really true you do not need your carbs adjusted? Anyone out there agree with him

    • @treezy8769
      @treezy8769  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There's no change in airflow, the holes bypass the baffling increasing the decibels. Check your carbs before and after and post the differences. There won't be any

    I have a 92 and 2005. The 92 is just nasty. Previous owner did some mods and drag raced it. I painted it, all black. The baffles were already out. Anyway. The 05 is completely stock. Seems like a slug to the 92. And is quiet. I don’t like it at all. Going to take out the baffles. The 92 looks and sounds like it eats people for breakfast.

    WHY NOT JUST DRILL OVER THE ROUND PLATE, ?!?

    • @osofhia
      @osofhia ปีที่แล้ว

      Just in case you want to hide the drilled holes. Some think it looks neater and as stock with the plate put back on.
