Is Less Soap, Less Effective? | Save Money on Hand Soap

  • For a long time I have been using foam soap. I started by purchasing 4 soap bottles with foam pumps. They were already filled when they were purchased. Instead of buying more bottles or buying expensive special "Foam Soap" refills when they ran out, I just purchase a large regular liquid hand soap refill bottle for a few dollars. I then dilute the soap with water and voila...Foam soap. I refill 3 of these bottles that get used the most in the house about once per month. The refill jug lasts well over a year. So basically I only spend around $3 on hand soap or less per year.
    My main question after getting into bacteria growing was...Does using a diluted soap make it less effective?

    Nice! I always wondered that.
    There is a beautiful experiment from a PhD student that questions about the "5 second rule" and she concluded that: 1) the type of food matters according to the water amount; 2) the type of floor matters, where more surface area exposed to the food augments the bacteria transfer chance; 3) just miliseconds of exposure from floor to food is enough to contaminate it.

      Thanks. As far as ozone and uvc, there really wouldn’t be much change in effectiveness. The potency of sterilization is only as strong as the weaker link. In this case ozone is the weaker link. The only thing ozone adds to uvc is slightly improved efficiency.

    Firstly, you wet your hands then apply the soap, this is so that the soap dose not damage your skin.

    2 L lasts you whole year ? you gotta be joking

    • @fourtysix4646
      @fourtysix4646 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Why? With a foaming hand soap dispenser one of those 2L easily lasts my family a year. The foaming pump doesn’t magically change the amount of soap those pumps require to work properly. It’s not like he’s making it anymore diluted then any company would. Most foaming soap dispensers are 300-500ml, so that’s 75-125ml /100-166ml per refill(25-33%). With the highest numbers, 500ml filled 1/3rd you get 2000ml/165= 12 refills.
