    When i buy bath and body works soaps i buy 1 foaming soap that i like and 5 gel soaps in the same scent. Everytime our foam bottle is empty i pour a small amount of the gel soap and water. It stretches our soap pretty far and our hands always smell yummy. 🙂

    • @LoriGarcia
      @LoriGarcia  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, exactly! The same concept. Sometimes it bothers me when I can't find the same scent in shower gel. We love the pumpkin marshmallow, but you can't find the shower gel.

      @@LoriGarcia Will this work with regular hand liquid soap?

  • @JomoLindsay
    @JomoLindsay 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

    Wow I love this. I bought a bottle a while back for $11.58 and now I have 99¢ dish washing liquid with a dash of aftershave foaming out of that same bottle.
    I always thought the soap was some special blend they cooked up in a lab, because I would put hand soap in the empty bottles without the water and it would just oze out like regular old hand soap.
    Thank you so much for sharing this.

      Thanks for your kind words. Such a money-saver! I have been turning dish soap into foam soap for 20 years now (man, I'm old :p ) but then one day it occurred to me to use the same method with the shower gel....GAME CHANGER! Have a great day

    I make soap frequently and every soap maker I know says that food coloring in soap is a bad idea. If I decide to make this foaming soap I will likely use colorants that are made specifically for soap. I’m afraid the food coloring will stain my skin or clothes.

This girl made this so simple and will be saving me a TON of money & right now during this awful Coronavirus pandemic where foam soaps CANT BE FOUND , this is just amazing and so appreciated ... Besides, my grandkids (and myself ) like the idea of the thick lather it’s quicker and more fun to wash their hands ... 💐God Bless & stay safe ....

    The foaming containers are so pretty, I don’t throw them away. I reuse them for dish soap, hand soap, face wash, body wash. Now that everything is foaming, it takes me forever to use anything. Using less soap, means less soap goes into the ocean.
    Edit: also shampoo.

    She doesn't stipulate the amount of water to use (with the 1-2 tablespoons of liquid hand soap), so -- for those who DON'T already have a Bath & Body Works bottle handy, know that it holds 8.75 fl. oz. That way you can work with whatever OTHER size bottle you already have (or plan to get), and just keep the soap-to-water ratio in mind.

      You can just add a tablespoon to any foaming soap dispenser. They are all about the same. You could even use a small spoon to measure the soap. It’s just soap, mostly preference. Works great❣️ Thank you so much for figuring out we only needed water❣️ That’s the REAL take away👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🤗💕🥰

    Do you have to regularly shake the mixture, or does it remain fluid enough to keep pumping out foam? Also, have you tried using liquid dish soap instead of body wash? Final question, have you substituted Dial, Method, Softsoap, or any other brand of body wash for BBW, and does it basically work the same? I apologize for all the questions! I'm getting very low on soap and it's something I can't be without! Thanks for the helpful video.

      Hi Kara, Sorry it has taken me so long to answer you. I first heard about this idea 20+ years ago and they used dish soap. I thought it was smart, and did this for years with good results. I kept trying to add scents to my soap to get it to smell as good as B&BW, but nothing smelled right. Then one day, I thought, why not use B&BW shower gels/body wash, and that simple idea, changed my soap needs forever. The biggest benefit for me was that my teenagers started washing their hands regularly for the payoff of the smell. Isn't that sad, but funny? Good luck.

      My oldest is 28, the year before my child's birth I was trying to see how $$ could be saved in my budget without having to spare some fun luxuries and still have enough $$ to buy necessities for the home. Stretching products with nice scents for hygiene, kitchen and bathroom use was one priority. This was the 1st hack I mastered, making foaming hand soap and foaming shower soap. It lathers well once it's agitated into a moist wash cloth, the water doesn't have to run the whole time and less soap is used too. When Aveeno created foam facial care products, that was copied too. Neutrogena shampoo and facial wash was a foam for me before the company had such a thought for their product. Thank you to my chemistry prof for making students ponder, experiment and learn from trial and error. It helped me become creative during some tight times.

    • @LoriGarcia
      @LoriGarcia  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Cindy, That is a good question. I know B&BW uses vitamin E in their soaps to improve condition. My only concern about adding conditioner or oil is that it probably will separate, so unless you are willing to shake it each time you use it, it might not incorporate. If you do try it, please let us know what you think. Thanks! xoxo - Lori

      You can use b.b.w. bath gel just as well as liquid hand soaps (even liquid dish soap). I have been using it for years to make liquid foaming soap. The key is the foaming pump and the soap to water ratio, super easy.

    • @LoriGarcia
      @LoriGarcia  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are correct, Simply Gardening. I heard about adding dish soap years ago, but when decided on using the B&BW shower gel/body wash I knew it was a game changer. 💐💐💐👏Hi Lori, Thank you so much for simplifying this recipe !
    (I’m happy I don’t have to buy distilled water , essential oils, some other ingredients , wear gloves & goggles, use a mixer , use a crock pot & do some melting -like other videos I’ve seen -LORD 🤦‍♀️) But not this simple recipe !! Thanks for helping me save money during this horrible Coronavirus Pandemic where foam soap 🧼 cannot be found !! Plus my grandson loves foam soap and anything to get him to wash his little hands is a blessing ❌⭕️‼️💐💐💐💐💐👏👏🙏

    This foam looks thinner than foam soap that's purchased at the store. How do you give it more "body"?

    • @LoriGarcia
      @LoriGarcia  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That is probably a trade-off, unfortunately. It is probably a little bit thinner, but the smell is great and mimics the B&BW ones. You can try to add more soap in the mix, but unfortunately, too much soap is problematic too, as it won't produce foam. Let me know if you come up with a better ratio!

    Since its so diluted, does it still desinfect the hands ???

    • @LoriGarcia
      @LoriGarcia  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Liliixx - good question :) Most Bath and Body soaps and body washes are not disinfectants, they are merely soap. Soap does its job by washing the germs down the sink, not offering any disinfecting properties. So, does this work like soap or any foam soap you would find on the shelves -- yes! Does this disinfect like Lysol or other strong disinfectant -- no. Hope this helps :)

      Hi Hamiya, I wonder if you are putting too much soap in? My mom made one the other day and didn't measure out the soap. She just poured some in and the ratio of soap to water was not right. It wouldn't pump out. I dumped out some of the soap, filled the rest with water, and it worked. Even if you are following the tutorial, I wonder if maybe the soap bottles are a different size? I would try less soap and go see if that works. Let me know how it turns out. -xoxo Lori
