No, I would have to disagree. With two in the box I would gladly buy 2 boxes to get a unit of 4 chain cannons.
I am NOT willing to buy 4 boxes for the same load-out, now I will instead grab all the heavy bolters I can and digg up some old auto-cannons and start converting.
Do they really expect people to buy 4 boxes just to have 1 squad be able to have 4 chain cannons? Expectations vs reality? Players will just buy 3rd party bits or recasts

No. They expect players to play this as a beer and pretzel game and take several different weapons in their havoc squad. Just look at the pictures in the codex, when you see the havoc or SM Dev squad they are NEVER armed the same. That isn’t marketing, that is a clear insight into how they think the game is best played.

I would. I love the new models, however I play rather casually and don't buy a lot of 3rd party stuff, and just enjoy painting their models moreover than playing.
@@valourousheart9796 i mean even for a non competitive player shooting 5-6 different weapons with different profiles and ranges is boring and overly complicated. Also some people play for fun but still want their unit set up as infantry killers or tank killers not just a useless mix of both
@@valourousheart9796 But non specialised squads have a huge disadvantage. A devastor squad with 4 different guns is a waste of points. You need a certain amount of quantity to make things work. A single Lascannon is not going to take down a tank. Four of them certainly will.
It's better to cut the Terminator Arms below the shoulder and above the elbow then drill and magnetize from there. That way you only need the 1 set of shoulder pads per model and all you are changing out is the rest of the arm and the weapon.
better for conserving shoulder pads, but the posing flexibility at the should is a nice feature.
@@klinktastic You can magnetize the shoulder joint, too, then it's posable and exchangeable while using only the one shoulderpad
If gw really have this wierd policy to give limited amount of special weapons then what about ig heavy weapon team? They have every single option. Or vanguard veterans? They have 5 hammers.

Make a mold of that badass weapon from Oyumaru and cast a bunch of resin copies.
With the standard box of Chaos Space Marines having a Heavy Bolter and Missile Launcher, it would have been nice for the Havoks to trade one of either for a second Reaper Chaincannon.
Yes exactly. Especially since it's the new CSM weapons and a so effective (stupid ?) one. I really don't get it. People will go on site like puppetswar and buy gatling tip cannon in order to glue them on another weapon. Not buy 4-8 boxes to have 1 or 2 squad(s) full reaper cannon.

Don't forget- the standard armament for the Terminators is a chain axe and there is only ONE DAMN CHAIN AXE in the box. You cannot even build them standard. One set of lightning claws is another poke in the eye. But like others here- NP GW- I will just buy chain axes, the plasma half of the combi-plasmas and the reaper chaincannons from Pop Goes the Monkey.
You can buy resin Rotor Cannons from FW and use them instead or try to take some as bitz from Thousand Sons 40K models!
Those terminators are awesome BUT its shame they are quite small :( They do not even stand up to the new Deathguard figures which is really shame
Yeah my money's gonna go to Pop Goes the Monkey or another artist from shapeways that are making stuff the community want. I get that its marketing but theres better ways to go about it.

They do that with their regular chaos Marines as well. I just started a chaos Space Marine army about 2 weeks ago and I went to go buy a chaos Space Marine set and only got 1 melta gun? Luckily I had spare bits from other kits so I was able to make a full havoc squad with melta guns. I get that it's business but at the end of the day we're still paying a lot of money for plastic the least they could do is give us exactly what we want.
I just REALLY dislike this modern idea of the models being haphazardly cut apart. The old models that were legs, torsos and arms etc as separate pieces while less detailed and smaller honestly feel superior to these. To convert these to not have them all look the same will take orders of magnitude more effort and time, that you will basically have to glue them together , then once they are together cut them apart just so they dont all look the same seems fucking stupid to me.
It just bothers me so much that w already get 'easy to build' models in all the starter sets, and then we pay a premium for the models as their own kits and while they are still 'multi part' they are still effectively not pose-able except for perhaps the angle/height of the arms or gun the arms are holding.

I played and collected from 2006-2010 and I was really sad when I realized how much of a step back they took with these designs, when I started getting back into it this year.

Heck, the devastator box has more variety of guns, two of each gun, more leader weapons, for less money, than the Havocs. They're not what GW's capable of for sure lol
It should have had 2 of each, that way you only need to get 2 boxes to have a full unit, and you get enough heavy weapons for your tactical units.
its funny, so GW said a while back that the last thing they do is make the rules on new figures. So whilst they made them, they send the parts to the guys who set up the sprews... so the reason why the rules are pretty good for the reaper chain gun or whatever its called, is probably because they realised they only have one on the sprew... so make them good to make up for the fact that you only get one per box... that doesn't stop third party companies making them which they do, I just baught 3 reaper guns for £5 from Kromlech so there are options out there
For my CSM Terminators, I used 5mm at the Torso and 3mm at the arm.
3mm also can fit into the Combi weapon.
The only tricky part is,using the 5mm only the Drill bits.
Since cant fit into my Army painter drill.
Wow, they even went the extra mile to change the way the shoulder pads mount so you can't use old pads..... That just seems intentional.
I have the equipment to make my own molds and cast what ever I want, that has nothing to do with the kits value though. IDK, I own plenty as it is, just a real bummer they don't keep spmething SOOOO simple in mind. Oh well, I guess I'm just being the grumpy old collector now ;) @MrTrainerGuy1
Using the Rotor Cannons from Forge World seems like a great way to acquire more Chaincannons.
If you don’t mind the 3-D printed bits, there are TONS of free shoulder pads available from thingiverse, cults, etc.
FFS. Chaincannons are apparently so OP that no one wants to field any other option, and instead of complaining about balance issues it's all bitching about why they don't make it easy to field four in a squad and how do we kitbash extras? There's something seriously wrong with this picture.

Only one Chaion cannon means that only one box will be bought (if at all) by most people I presume... Seems idiotic from a sales standpoint, as I assume that the people buying 4 boxes to get 4 chaincannons are quite rare...
Won't 1 magnet in the pad be strong enough if you drill into the arm to give it a little slot to slide in and get closer to the other magnet and will save you from drilling into the already thin pad?
For the price of the kit I do think they really should have included two chaincannons, I think at that point more people would feel like if they wanted a whole squad of chaincannon havocs then they would just buy two boxes. Whereas now because there is only one in the box people are looking to buy just one box and make do with conversions.
What about the shoulder pads? Do I need to find a new set of shoulder pads for every arm option?
Yeah, you would have to, but you could also use any extras you have around too

For the chaincannons, the Onslaught cannon bits from Redemptor dreads or Repulsors should work perfectly well.
Honest question, I recently got into 40k and I wonder how many people are truly upset by this issue. I for one am super excited and think these models look gorgeous. I play casually usually open play which is one of the GW modes of play. Do more people tend to play competitive with matched play and therefor need to invest more to be competitive?
For the average player it isn't really a big deal, however, players who play competavily and create cheese lists would be slightly annoyed.
what's funny is that in the starter set, they added a single havok model, same cast and everthing... They COULD have added a reaper chaincannon. Instead they chose an autocannon.
Also pre fixed backpacks is a real bummer to be honest. This means that you wont be able to give havoc specials to tactical marines.
You should be able to cut the cables off the guns and just use the arm with the gun on it.
The 40mm base wasn't enough of a clue for you that every possible choice in the design of this unit is to squeeze more money out of you, not only on the Havocs themselves, but also to make you lose the flexibility of them for CSM purpouses, forcing you to buy more CSM? I pity the fool who buys into this crap.
What? GW "Doesn't want you to spend money??!!" shocking, the fact how weapon options available clearly meant they want you to buy more. It's the company foundation building on blood of hobbyist money. This is the same company charge people hundreds for plastic model. They are all down to $$$$$. Could you glue the shoulderpads to the top part? and then the arms slide under the pad? Could work for magnetization.
So chaos marines get transfer sheets with most of their major factions, but loyalist marines are still stuck with the stupid new sheets that only have Ultramarine transfers.

I just got havocs. Deep disappointment. The chaincannon could of at least been the same as the others, two in the box. But what pissed me off more, the sergeant isn’t even nearly as customizable as it should be. Like no bolter?! Seriously.
Games workshop should just charge an extra 15% but all the pieces are ready for magnets. I would totally pay more for that convenience.
Are there only 8 shoulderpads in the havoc kit?

@@popburnsy3207 Then you have to find a way to kitbash lascannons and missile launchers that aren't shoulder mounted, nether of which GW makes for havocs OR devastators as they are both shoulder mounted weapons. They're the only ones in the havoc box with moulded in shouldepads due to his to weapon rests on the shoulder for that one arm

See? Still short 1 pair of shoulder pads. There should've been 10 pads regardless if there's built-in options or not(Granted there should've been 2 chain cannons too, but what can you do?)
On the upside, there appears to be 22 shoulderpads in the new standard Chaos Space Marine kit

I'm gonna say it, new havoc sculpts look amazing, but holy shit are they goofy big. They are even bigger then most none terminator characters. One that note, I'll probably use the bodies for character kit bashes and the weapons on normal guys because that's just stupid how large they are.

Nothing about the havocs makes sense, they have raptor talons that do nothing for the raptors and now we Know why :D Seriously what idiot decided to count the clawed toes as move and fire? It may be one of the silliest rules they have ever made. Why not just tie the rule to their massive suits of armor. Clawed toes? *face palm*

Imo your not wrong, and in fact I think you should not have to watch what your saying for a review.
If your getting your games Workshop stuff for free, well your in a rock and hard place, give a proper review or be a shill. I would rather watch you give and honest review, even if that means you have to buy your product yourself like Sup3rSai3n and then do the review. I much rather watch an honest opinion than watching some one walk on egg shells or just shill the product in order to get the latest greatest for free.
If your getting your minis for free, you should be up front about it every review....."Games Workshop sent me this XXXX unit for review, this is what I think of it." and you should be able to say, this unit is great because X, Y,Z, but it sucks because A,B,C. and if you can't say it sucks because A,B,C then your just a shill who wants free stuff and many people will realize that and just not watch you as much or anymore.
First looks are great, but when you know it's coming from a shill, you take that "first look" with a grain of salt.
So please be honest with your reviews, please say what needs to be said when you need to say it and be damned with GW if they don't like it. You have been a reviewer of their product for years, they would be dumb to make an example out of you and stop sending you stuff just because you said something sucks.

I would use Tau burst cannons if you have some spare crisis suit pieces. (I've got too many Tau bits so that probably what I'm going to do.) Actually looking forward to seeing how possible that conversion is.

Lookit that mace that comes in the Terminator set, OMG, give that to Abaddon instead of his sword, give him neutral face with no topknot and insta Horus conversion. The mace might be a bit short, but you put that on the new Abaddon model and people who know, will know exactly who is on the table now. Wow, I think I want the Terminator set more now than the Havok set. I can see some customization and magnetization of that arm coming up soon in my build. (already have Abby, just need this Terminator set now.).
The scale of the new Havocs is almost as ridiculous as the price.

I still can´t wrap my mind about havocs being T5... I mean, as chaos player I am glad, but what´s the reasoning ? Either they should have boosted all marines to T5 or leave them at T4, which I am completely alright with.
For the only one chaincannon in a box.. or that principe in general, I am sorta surprised that people are surprised by that move on GW part. I mean show me the kit, which comes with optimal loadout. Yes, it´s a dick-ish move, but aren´t we used to it now ?
Probably they cannot boost them all to T5, or they will have buff Death Guard Plague Marines to T6.

1 chaincannon is disgusting, 2 at a minimum is acceptable, remember when gravity cannons were the new hotness you got 2 in the dev box and the rest of the weapons could be put on cheap tac marines
Play a few test games, they aren't nearly as good as they seem. The gatling gun is much better on normal marine units.

Well I did the dirty: I bought 4 x boxes of Havocs for the chain cannons. I can still use these Havocs as Khorne World Eaters right ? and they won't complain at official tournaments ?
You may 'just' get away with using Pop Goes the Monkey stuff for official GW tournaments but I doubt it if they are eagle eyed, plus the opponent can complain if he's mean.
