I remember you making an Anti-Magnetize your models video
Привет, Джей! Наверно стоило из грин-стафф и блю-стафф сделать ещё центурионов, чтобы было кому раздать оставшееся оружие? Для хобби переделки интереснее, и потом обменять их можно на какие-либо другие юниты. 👍
For a full decade, I've just pretended Centurion suits didn't exist, because I thought they were the dumbest goofiest thing in the space marine arsenal. Hearing your head-canon of them being essentially rapid-response mobile bunkers/gun platforms makes me actually kinda excited for them. Thank you, eons 😅
Not sure which but centurion or gravies armor was from an stc for making ship refueling suits.
And then primaris armours came out. Suddenly centurion warsuits didn't seem so bad...
@@clinch4402primaris armours are fine.
@@spaceageGecko Incorrect. Inceptors are beyond goofy.
@@clinch4402 Yawn. Inceptors are only goofy with the blast shields on. Primaris armor looks great and the models in general shit all over the oldmarines.
I somehow always liked centurions, but your centurions are definitely something else
Aim for the head
Love centurions too
Ye i love them cause their like tags from infinity or teh thors from starcraft 2.
I honestly like them more than the current primaris releases. The intersessir and heavy weapons team hurt me on a physical level..... I'll be it it's mostly the poses I've seen but they just fail to sell me and actively lessen the model.
I also love centurions. Idk I don't understand why people don't like them. They're dope
Space marine babushka dolls are easily A tier
- correction: Matrioshka dolls
Those are called Matrioshka, at least this should be phoneticaly correct.
@@mikoajsobczak1837 my apologies
Not to be confused with Mamushka.
Matrioshka dolls commonly include a babushka.
You're all still wrong.
One of the really valuable bits of this is HOW you kitbashed him. The plastic and green stuff tricks can be used in a lot of different kits.
Loved the vid!
Wow, I also thought these looked goofy, I didn't realise that if you changed them completely they didn't! Great conversions, great paint, as usual!
Indeed, who would've guessed 🤣
These would look soo good in a Salamanders army. I actually like these and hope GW make an updated version of them. Pretty mcuh what you did here Jay, great work!!
they do look great in my army i agree. haha
@@Johnny350Z Im eyeing them up now haha. I finally got around to working up the theme and paint scheme for my custom chapter but am a bit away from getting these still. I still have a Necron army to finish by the time their new codex drops. Only about 3.5k points to go haha
@@foreverfornever1124Did you get them?
Jay's simple joy at converted Centurions and magnets is such a delight.
Im also a centurion fan even without the conversions you did but the conversions just make'em better
Was hoping it was gonna be desalators, I’ve been trying to make a squad of them look good, hopefully I can get some tenth edition games in before they get nerfed.
Same.
As soon as I saw this I was like that's got to be the new stupid NERF marines. I guess Jay is down playing these clowns scuplts because so many STL's have been released to alter or have counts as so your squad's dont look stupid.
But centurions never had any love they always just sucked. 😅
Mad Dok Minis has done an extremely good conversion of them - basically taking the MLs from Devastators and sticking the actual rocket bits from desolators onto the Devastator launcher's body. th-cam.com/video/dE7l0ih0Np0/w-d-xo.html
If I ever use them I'm just going to take Intercessors and put Heresy-era missile launcher arms on them.
I have found that if you use a thumbtack to make a mark before you drill, it’s a lot easier!
Much safer than using a hobby knife tip, too!
This is a really good conversion guide. I love how you are using nice and simple bits to expand slightly and using the kit itself to hide any roughness. Well done!
7:38 proof that Jay work flow is bestial. He made this video in 9th ed. The man is a machine!
oh and nick. sorry nick 😅
I'm surprised you don't have a magnet stick. You got a little piece of dowel (thick paint brush handle works fine) and embed a magnet on each side with the polarity in line, then I mark one end red and one blue. Blue is for Body and Red is for (R)arm. Since I use it consistently for all my magnetization, magnetic components between models are intercompatible.
60 percent hobbying, 40 percent innuendo, great vid mate.
I love the original design of the centurion, bulky , heavy armored and ready to destroy everithing in front of them and nice vidéo about one of my most favorite Space Marines unit and im french
Wow, one of the most well rounded hobby videos i've seen in a while. Great conversion, great painting, nice background. 10/10 ❤
I've always hated the look of centurions and therefore don't have any in any of my sm armies (smurf, blood angels, dark angels, space wolves or my own dragonlords faction); however, your mods make them look interesting enough that I'm going to give them a go. Great looking conversion, matey.
I'm not a fan of magnetizing models, but I love seeing how happy it makes you
I love my chunky bois! The look much better in person than in pictures though. And I think a lot of people still don’t know that the pilots have their arms crossed in front of their torsos, and the suit is controlled by willpower.
Really ? Thats sic ! lol Almost like there in a deep prayer or something. Or naturally that position arms crossed sounds like the Imperiun Aqulia symbol / salut. Thanks for sharing that bud.
Ngl this piece of information IMMEDIATELY changed my opinion on them. I love them now
@@savagex466-qt1io No problem. The pose is actually replicated in the symbol on their right shoulder pad, if I remember correctly.
I initially guessed this would be Desolation marines, but I'm very happy with the results none the less, great stuff! They look properly big and powerful now.
Yeah, with the title Most HATED, I thought it would desolation, that I would really like to see improved like that
Same. I've seen a few people sticking firstborn missile launchers on them, but I'd like to see a nice choppy/greenstuff fix.
Your description of the Centurions is exactly how the "Tactical Terminator Armor" is used a good example of this is in the Night Lords books there's a fight towards the end of the series where they use the armor just like you envisioned.
It's like the Iron Man Hulkbuster suit from Age of Ultron, Iron Man inside an Iron Man
Wonderful kitbash, i might have to add these guys to my DA list down the line.
Btw handy tip for anyone who has trouble with magnet polarity, use a thin tin coated steel sheet + magnets instead of magnet + magnet. I use 0.2mm but you can get thinner/thicker sheets.
Biggest plus with the metal sheet is you can place magnets in anyway you want (or if you forgot which way) and it'll still magnetise to the sheet!
Great build Jay. The use of the for sale sign for inexpensive large format styrene is inspired.
In order to truly complete the Babushka doll effect, someone needs to make a space marine, inside a terminator, inside a centurion inside a dreadnaught, inside a warlord titan, inside an imperator titan.
Getting tengen toppan gurren lagan vibes here
Mate these look absolutely incredible!!!
I love the custom work to make them look more like the artwork depicts them!! And as always.. gorgeous paint work bro! 👏👏👏👏👏
I absolutely love these guys and I went further than any other space marine model I’ve ever painted
Wow, awesome conversions! I'm just getting in to warhammer and it's so cool to see all the amazing things people do modeling/painting their miniatures. I haven't even painted my first miniature yet and i already want to try all this stuff out xD
MAN! I've been looking forward for this video for ages! :D
Yours look so good, thanks for sharing your process
Gotta love the Seinfeld reference! Haven't heard one from Jay in a minute, and I'm glad to hear it! Great video per usual, and I'd love to see more conversion videos from you guys! Perhaps Jay's take on the Agressors, as described in that hit-and-a-miss GW models video from a while ago?
It's amazing how some subtle modifications really make the kits twice as good. Really, really nice video.
Those are not subtle.
Honestly, the mods you make to them should just be how they are normally. They look so much better the way you do them.
I do love them, the derp is endearing
Took a break when 7th came out after playing since I was a nerdlet back in 3rd Ed. Bought some centurions when my buddy got me back in with 8th, modeled them with the HB/HuB loadout and threw them into a Raven Guard list I had made up. Thrashed him in my second game back with the centies doing the heavy lifting in T2, and it felt good. So, I bought another box, made a squad of six, and laughed as I imagined a squad of onyx-armored big boys hunkering in the shadows until they get the order, and then popping out to erase everything in a hail of mass-reactive rounds.
Your passion and enthusiasm for the hobby is infectious,
Red for the trim also looks great on black Templar centurions, and lore friendly too as these marines are in the marshals house. Great models 💯
Yayyy! My favorite minis are getting a makeover by my favorite painter/hobbyist!!
So glad to see someone else also love the Centurions!
Cant wait to try out this myself!
Love your take on Centurions, thanks so much for the fantastic tutorial 🦾
Your presentation is so good! your flow is great and it feels like you should defo have a TV show of some kind
Wow..Nice Work .Always thought centurions looked a bit odd but the work you have done has changed my mind .Might pick up a set and get the saw out .
Impressive, as always. Your kit bashing and painting skills are amazing. Will be joining your patreon soon, I really want those DOW terrain stls. And I have a lot to share, main theme is, discovering what you have after 15 years of being stored in your attic 😮 I’ve been sorting stuff for hours, and that is just separating 40k and the fantasy stuff, the fun starts when I start sorting the armies. If I remember right, that should be 4 fantasy, and 6 40k😅 not really sure, it’s been a long time.
If I ever get myself some Centurions for my Salamanders, I'm definently coming back to this video to make these modifications.
These are some of the coolest kitbashes I've seen. Amazing work
I always thought they look cool. I love yours to. Such a good tip a unit that could get tar pit like the Centurions is good to outfit them with flamers.
I've used the Centurion kit as a base for my Chaos Obliterators. Greenstuffed some mutated flesh bulging between the plates and then attach ALL the guns. No need for magnets. 😂
I really like custom build and the base work! Gives me some good ideas. Time to get some milliput
Fantastic!! I’m totally doing this I have mine still in a drawer. Time to give them new life!
I've never heard any hate for Centurions except when I rip out 6 of them against someone.
I loved how silly they look. They bring me great joy to see on a battlefield.
The centurion kit is one of my favourites. So many armour panels, pistons and other bits to use for conversion. I used a bunch for my 30k WE Praetor recently.
"I am Adorable." - a very adornable centurion
"This is the last time im building them"
Are you sure of that Jay
EoB: 24 magnetized bits!
Everyone: ...walks away
Me, a Tau player: where do I sign?
I know the centurion suits in a yellow imperial fists scheme with Rogal Dorn hiding underneath in the palace on terra in “If the emperor had TTS”
Dude… this might be my favourite video you’ve made. There’s so much in this.
Wait are those weapons yellow to pay homage to Dorn and their ancestry? That's actually super genius.
I dont play or own any table games or minis but i always likes and appreciate the hobby. The amount of work and detail is a true passion. Maybe as a old retired man ill start. Enjoy the videos
What thickness did you use for the plasticard?
as of next month that kit turns 10 years old, sadly two of the kits launched along side it have now been discontinued (sternguard and hunter/stalker kit
The trick to making these look good is to remember its a space marine stood inside of a mech suit. I paint the pilot in techmarine colours and the suit in all metallics. I also leave the shoulder and crouch armour plates off to make the look more robot-y. It brings the grimdark back to them.
Awesome videos as always man...Keep up the great work.Question The name tags are 3d printed right?
Despite the goofy premise, I always thought Centurion suits looked cool as heck.
You're not doing me any favours in the 'I don't need another model kit I got dozens' department xD awesome work indeed!
Man you actually make me want centurions now. They always looked so goofy to me, you make them look so badass, I will definitely be doing this soon ~
You don't notice how stiff the models are untill you correct them. That slight repositioning/rescaling of the models gave the a tone of life and they are honestly stunning and look better than any centurion you'll ever see. Hands down this is beautiful!
Nice one mate rly gave me the drill to get em aswell!. Onlything id like to see bit more of that hiparmor maybe chipped, but i can do it myself. Wouldve been boring otherwise
As a long time Imperial Fist player, I’ve got 24 centurions (18 assault and 6 Devastator), mostly as a carryover from the old formation, but they saw regular table time right up to the end of 9th.
The centurion kit is the first kit where my craft knife slipped and cut the heck outta my finger.
They’re Dark Angels successors, but the lad that wounded me in construction is gonna look like a World Eater that got lost and joined a Loyalist squad lol. What can I say? A model that wounds the maker deserves all the Blood for the Blood God technical!
your idea for increasing the size is brilliant. perfect timing too!
How did he do those names on the bases? Their so cool I would love to get something like that for my models.
I used to play, now im back into 40k for the lore. But conversions and hobby talk really brings me to a happy place. The centurions were a secret love of mine, but your conversion elevates them like no other. Good job.
I love the centurions so much I decided that I wasn't gonna magnetize mine so I could build more! I currently have 9 and always wanna build more
What do you use to make the name plates, would be cool for kill team bases.
Now that's a nice conversion! 💯 Great video guide too.
What are you talking about?!? The Centurions are awesome. Your Intro definitely goes for the Desolation Squad.
I loved these chonky boys but yours are awesome. I’m getting some soon so I’ll definitely be changing the crotch guard and leg armour to give more pose possibilities
with 10th edition I definitely think he's started using the gravity guns, they are just about the best anti vehicle weapons out there, and with hiw vehicle heavy this edition is they are a super viable option
Amazing level of detail. Your a passionate guy.
This whole process is just art... aweseome!!
Late to the party, but in love with the changes. How thick is the sheet plastic you used? You mentioned you cut 3x of the shapes, but didn't specify how thick that actually was.
Thank you!
Hi ! Where did you find magnets of this shape, 1.5MM x1.5MM ? I could definetly use that for my leviathant dread, ought arms ^^
I'm with you. I've always loved the centurions. Your conversion ideas make them just that much better.
I was a little skeptical but wow this make them look incredible, well done!!
How thick is that plastic sheet? In case someone wanted to copy your process
3:58 "B-brother, what are you doing? IN THE NAME OF THE EMPEROR BROTHER PLEASE, NO"
My gripe with these was always simply how much they cost in £ for 3 troop-scale models.
Ultimately I used them for Chaos Oblits since I didn't want to convert finecast or metal.
"I want a dreadnought sized bulge" is maybe the best quote from any Warhammer video I've seen
Jay sold out with the paint racks! Team bin of paints!
You have perfectly corrected the "weaknesses" of the Centurions. The legs are really not perfect on the original models.
Good work!
I think these bad boys are AWSOME! Good work!! Gota find a set of these!!
May I ask what thickness of card you used ?
Best paint job I’ve seen on your channel! Unreal
I’ve given this a go on my centurion kit and they look so much better, thank you😁😁
What grit sanding stick are you using to get such A smooth finish on the area your sanding mine does look that good when im done with it.
Totally agree with your reasons for magnetizing kits like this, and I’d add Models I Don’t Like Much But Kinda Need to that category
Interesting strategy vs most that require changing the legs out for another kit. Nice look, man.
A while ago somebody made a 3D printable kit for Primaris centurions and I absolutly loved the look of those too still need to get a set of the GW ones so i can have a mixturein my army.
legends say that all of these boxes are still of the very first batch
I’ve been sitting on a centurion kit for a while now, I know what I’m gonna do with them after this vid!
