The groin arrow points to the taint of Chaos... :)
Beat me to it …
You've heard of The Eye of Terror. Now you are directed to The Ring of Horror's
These are, quite literally, METAL!
Don't forget 'eavy!
@@flamingdonut9456 They certainly are 'eavy, that's for sure. I painted an old metal Dark Eldar Hellion a while back. With the weight and the pointy ends of the hoverboard, that model could have constituted a lethal weapon if thrown.
@@Bluecho4 I had the old LEAD space marine dreadnaught. That thing could be used as a doorstop
@@1985slipstream ah, the satisfying "clunk" of one keeling over on its tiny base.
His voice is like ASMR. Love putting these vids on as I go to sleep. I then watch them again in the morning to see how it all turned out.
Two watches is awesome (more ad revenue 😉)
Same here!
Sounds like AHOY but for minis, I’m all here for it
@@OskarGregersen very similar to Ahoy!
He's a big David Bowie fan.
The amount of times i got stabbed by those trophy racks lol
one once fell down and I stepped on it... let me just say there are worse things than lego
Almost doesn't feel right if one don't stabbed themselves at least once putting them together.
The reaper auto cannon was a fantastic weapon back in the day. Perfect light vehicle popper
I remember lusting after these in White Dwarf. Those sculpts are still so badass!
These chunky spiky bois are still the best. The new ones are fine, but Terminators that actually feel hefty just have that extra factor to them.
It was honestly insulting how much better theese looked than the regular loyalist terminators.
They performed better too
New chaos is freaking boring looking.
The shitty ultralight plastic space hulk terminators sure, but Jes Goodwin did a bunch of metal sculpts in the mid 90's that were great, especially his character models, the metal terminator lord with the power sword & storm bolter is a classic. I also liked the metal assault terminators, they were less static and more imposing.
10:02 the groin arrow is pointing at the taint of chaos
I knew I wasn’t the only one!
@@toastle8005 could also be pointing to the deez of chaos
dangit I was about to type this
I don't know what exactly it is, but these are among my favourite GW models of all time. Best Chaos Terminator sculpts for sure.
When i was a younger lad & in school i actually used 2 of these (that were broken) to take to school to put in the old schoool football socks & 'politely ask' the bully who kept spitting on my back to please refrain.....he didnt spit on me after that day!....great models with nice memories attached! Great video as usual! 😊
Ha cool. Did you ever follow through with your threat?
@Miniscape-wh40k haha! No violence was needed!...like most bullies he melted when confronted...the heft of them though I'm actually quite thankful or I would probably be sending this message from HMP 😂 cheers mate! Have a goodun! 😊
Ha. Take care mate
Good thing you didn't use a dreadnought.
Should’ve used the old chaos dread
The only dry humour retro 40k channel I need ❤
He's so dry, I'm surprised he doesn't play Thousand Sons.
Thank you for commenting on using older rules editions. I started back in the 2nd -3rd edition era and always wondered why most players only used the latest editions. The rules were out there. They still existed but for some reason, they were never to be spoken of. It's part of the reason I started collecting old rulebooks as a sort of archive of the Forgotten. Great video, loved the paint scheme.
Massive agree. If you and your friends want to play any edition, you can. Thanks for commenting.
Great job, mate. I do miss being able to buy random bits from the back of White Dwart. Brilliant for conversions. Especially my Plague Marines. Gave one a rather fetching set of leathery wings. A bugger to glue on, though. Ended up borrowing my brother's soldering iron!🤣 Bit of a tip for blocking up gaps in the old slotted bases- matchsticks. Slightly cheaper than milliput but a great fit..👍Look forward to seeing your Plague Marines. Nice.
Oh god the nostalgia ❤
It feels weird seeing my brothers in midnight clad having once been the favorite child of GW.
That biker gang you're thinking of is just the anime Mospeada.
Those are insane! Well done. If you somehow got hold of those weird old plague marines thatd be wild.
I might already have some 😉
Good show mate.
I still have 10 of these painted up, towards the end of 2nd ed,in a proper WE red.
Love the nostalgia, and the ambience.
I love that their grandma's have contributed to their trophy racks! "Thanks, gran, it'll go perfectly beside the skulls of my enemies!"
😅
Foundation paints? Now there is a blast from the past! Not that they compare with the age of the terminators, but there is something about being in the hobby when those released--and then vanished--that hits a bit different than models a little younger than I am.
Screaming terror and awww! Love those old models and what you've done with them.
Thanks buddy
First ever white dwarf I ever read had abbadon and these terminators fighting space marines. Those pictures are eternally ingrained into my brain for some reason.
This is the warhammer I first got into in the 90s. Dam, I get a good feeling every time I see these old boxes.
i came back for old world and these are the terminators i rememeber, they are amazing when they came out
Not many people know this but they’re called Chaos Terminators because they were discovered by Arkhan Terminate.
Massive nostalgia hit of admiring these models on the shelf of my local GW back in the day!
Perfect watch as I currently am finishing painting the current plastic abaddon and a new sqaud of temrinators to replace my older boys that have served me since 5th edition
Wonderful
Very nice job, considering how busy they are visually. I remember the first time I tried painting one of these I realized I dont wanna actually play chaos anymore since painting them up is hard mode. lol
Yeah I know what you mean. Now I am a big boy, I felt I could tackle them
@10:04 The arrow is pointing to the "taint of chaos"
In my opinion ,the best Chaos Terminators ever. Thanks.
Loved these sculpts, especially the different animal horns designs.
I love the colour theme. Its not boring and gives a lot of soul.
Thank you
Well that didn’t take long!
I ABSOLUTELY remember the old citadel foundation paints, and will be very sad on the day the last one of them dies on me. I was very amused to see you break out the gretchin green specifically for the base rim, because that is what I have been using for exactly that for years!
These terminators of yours look great, I hope to se you document them in action some day in the future. A good terminator squad is the only thing my chaos army is missing at this point, but I am still hoping to one day get my hands on the first ones that were made, the generation before these, or to just print out my own in that rough size.
What a coincidence. Cheers!
beautiful models these look great with such a nice paint scheme
Great job. I remember foundation paints and the shades released soon after.that paint book is great along with it's sister books space marines and vehicles
I had these. This box was the first 40k box I ever purchased, and I want to say the year was 2006.
Genuinely get excited seeing a new vid from you mate. Definitely my favourite mini painting channel by far.
Thank you. Very kind of you to say.
I remember I had these as a kid and lost them :( where would I even find a box of or these in current year?
A box of them? That would be a challenge but they come up on eBay not in box sometimes. Search for metal chaos terminators
I do the exact same thing for sponges; push a bit through an old paintbrush protector, I have several varying sizes of the tube so I can select a "sponge brush" the right size for the surface I want to paint with it.
Likewise I have no idea were I first saw it, but it works.
These were so cool when they came out, still look great imo
I only kept these terminators to accompany my chaos characters. Good show.
looks awesome man! reminds me of my days painting old, squat black templar terminators xD
For the future metal minis, try MrHobby Metal Primer (glass square bottle, red sticker). You should find it in most of the scale model shops. It's a transparent metal primer, you brush it on the mini before applying normal primer. In theory it's designed for aero, but I'll never sacrifice an airbrush for such an aggresive stuff. I have absolutely ZERO paint chipping on me even when I managed to drop minis few times on the floor, this stuff is amazing.
Thanks for the tip
love your channel. I got into the hobby i think in 2nd edition. I love it still to this day. Super fun and nostalgic, videos like this. Subbed
Thank you
For some reason my wife found your video hilarious and said "I didn't know your hobby was so amusing". Not sure why, she's never been interested in the number of different shades of black paint I have.
I'm glad your wife got a new perspective on our hobby
I’m really liking the paint job on all of your 2nd edition Chaos Terminators. Scream terror and awe yes very much scary do. Looking forward to watching the next painting of Chaos figures from yourself.
Thanks buddy. Pleased you enjoyed it.
Seeing this upload's notification pop up on my phone while I was at work today made my rough shift just a little better knowing I had this to look forward to! Become my favourite tabletop channel, keep doing cool stuff dude!
You are too kind. I am glad I provided light at the end of the tunnel for you.
Awesome video, love the old 2nd and 3rd edition models
Have a soft spot for the older Chaos minis, especially the metal Terminators. I have 9 of these with 2 older Rogue Trader Chaos Terminators in the mix.
Looks good, always loved those models! Perhaps some day I'll get into old 40K, after I've painted my 400x 90s Warhammer Fantasy models in about a decade!
Very cool! They were so chunky and heavy. Gorgeous sculpts. You’ve really done them justice 👏👏👏
Thanks mate
Would love to see some Noise Marines. With their old colour scheme it would be a hell of a painting video.
Donations welcome. These things are hard to track down
Awesome man.
Go your own way!
Love that!
The bulk of my Berserker army is STD/TL&TD-3rd edition era and these are still in it. Gloss cherry red and matte brass/black was a pain back in the day. And I swear I'll get around to rebasing them some day, although their feet hanging off the edge of the 25mm gives enhance that bulky look.
Wonderful.
I wonder if Warhammer will still exist in 20 or 30 years...
Maybe one day I'll create a nostalgic TH-cam channel about how I started playing 40K in 2018 !
You should!
pods of 3 chaos
terminators were the way to go in 2nd ed. so many options to choose for them as well
Awesome! Going to have to watch this a second time, so good
Or just put it on a loop 😜
Those guys look mint! Very well done.
I like the dabbling tool.
At one point, Foundation Paints made up most of my paint collection. I liked the opacity and muted colours.
Thanks. Foundation paints were the best.
Wow, the '90s' finest figures, and a voice like Jarvis Cocker. This is soporific (in a good way) retro magnificence....
😍
I always use a tan or light brown under gold. It allows one coat of gold. Forget where I learned that, but it works.
Beautiful job friend. Kudos.
Thank you! Cheers!
I'd love to see you make the classic cactus terrain and eventually the Nightlords painting tutorial! I loved the video.
I can't promise I will do the cacti but I will do a night lords tutorial.
"Groin arrow". Nice.
As per the joke in the Midwinter Minis video repainting the giant space marine, I have to assume the Groin arrow points…
*To the taint of chaos*
I wish they scaled up those same sculpts for the modern game. Great video, mate!
Yeah me too. Thanks mate
Nostalgic. Nice job 👍🏻
Thank you
they was a pain in the ass to clean from mold lines. I had 20 of them. 15 of them ordered in single piece order from the mail order. I was young and stupid. This order was so expensive.
I have it on good authority that the groin arrow in fact points towards the "Taint of Chaos"
Great models and a great paint job. It’s ‘96 all over again.
Cheers
Great paintwork on some fantastic miniatures - I never had any of the Terminators (besides Abaddon) myself, but I remember a friend lending me one of his to paint, and how much fun it was (and slightly painful as you noted, with all the spikes - that's a problem that's gotten worse with plastic, now the points are even pointier). I appreciate the look into the codex as well - I have one but haven't properly read through the rules of late (I just look at the pretty pictures), I'd forgotten Chaos Termis could be upgraded to Noise Marines and have sonic weapons. I've used up all the Termis on hand just now, but next box I get, at least one of them's definitely getting a blastmaster and garish paint job.
Awesome. That sounds like a great plan.
Great paint job again. And I didn't know the blades attacked to their ranged weapons actually added a boost in combat if you haven't already fired them that turn.
Neither did I until I was preparing this video. Thanks buddy.
honestly, i love what you said about wanting to play older or unofficial rules and i 100% agree i just wish my group would be willing to do so
I wish I had a group 😂 maybe if you can convince one to try older rules, the others might jump aboard
@@Miniscape-wh40k lets hope XD
looking great!
Oh excellent!
I was hoping for some spikey bois!
Did someone pointed out already, that there is some amazing second edition terrain in the background? 😍😄
It's going to get its own video soon
I miss the weight of metal miniatures so muich that i superglue pennies in 25mm bases and quarters in 40mm ones. I chop out the tubes with nippers if the quarter doesnt have room. makes the models less likely to tip over and gives them a nice weight
One of my favourite 2nd edition chaos rules was their ability to take “modern” wargear to show marines could still fall to chaos or just be considered renegade/traitor due to some misunderstandings. Personally I always liked the traitor marine approach rather than the cartoony, mutant things they became. My chaos army at the time was mostly made up of converted loyalist marines with imperial symbols removed/abused, and a bunch of the early armour mark sculpts from mail order.
Been looking forward to this since I saw your insta post. Fantastic job! 😃
😍 I hope it was everything you dreamed it would be
making me want to get some old kits too now. most of which will be older than I am
Do it dude
Awesome. That rhinoceros horn is something else. Don’t think any of the newer ones have that.
Sadly they didn't
OH i love it real metal for real chaos realy very cool sculpts !
I remember many blisters of these on the walls at my LGS. Always cool, I didn't play Chaos but did have a fondness of the enemy as much as the ally. The 2000's plastic Chaos TDA just did not hit the mark, not till the latest 'bigger-big' version, did GW hit the mark of how these looked. Now I need to go fight Chaos in Chaos Gate!
I agree with you about the model. Have fun in chaos gate
@@Miniscape-wh40k I'm trying lol. Unlike these models and this channel, it hasn't aged well.
So nostalgic watching these, I still have them as well as my chaos dreadnought, its spiky tip still intact, too.
If you have the paints and ever get a chance to paint a Goff, try using stegadon scale green instead of thunderhawk blue and sybarite green instead of fenrisian grey, for a different tone of black armour. It's a fun different kind of result.
If I have the paints I will. Thanks.
I love how your so sarcastic "with the abundance of hair stylist in the warp" when making mention of the non existing dermatologists of the warp! Hilarious 😂 so much passive aggression 😂😂
😜
I don't know why any painting videos use music other than smooth jazz. It's perfect.
One trick I now use for paint stripping is to use detol. Works a trick on plastics. Just use metho and not water when using an electric toothbrush to remove the paint.
I know of Dettol. Stinks though. My wife has banned it in the house.
@Miniscape-wh40k yeah I have similar problems with my wifie, there ultra sensitive nose. Though not as bad as a nosey 3 year old to put a dent in my joy of painting.
I love the style of your old school art. You seem to just slap the paint on with a kind of unsteady hand, using well worn out equipment, yet the miniatures that you produce, come out somewhat perfect, for the style you are creating.
Your deadpan humour is great too!
Lol! 😂
Metal miniatures are also not the easiest to paint and turn out this good.
Thank you. I think. There seems to be a veiled insult in here but I will overlook it due to it being either my own paranoia, or that your praise outweighs it anyway. Thanks buddy.
@@Miniscape-wh40k really no insult intended. Lol! I genuinely love your art.
I didn't really explain very well what I meant. It's kind of like when Rolf Harris used do large paintings, and he used to just slap and dash paint on the canvas, (seemingly half hazard) but at the end, he would create a near masterpiece.
And please dont think my comparison to you and Rolf Harris is a snide insult on you either, Lol! 😂 it's just I can't really explain myself very well.
@@gutz323 no no don't worry at all. Thank you for your kind words and I'm really pleased you enjoy my content 😊
Looking good. I’m slowly painting up a 2e style Space Wolves force and will be coming up on my terminators soon. All ‘Evy Metal :)
Wonderful
Absolutely love dads jokes on this channel
😁
Love those chaos termies, bought a bushel of them on eBay at some point
Awesome. Have you painted them?
You made an amazing work. It's an excellent result👌🏻
If you are interested in a little advice, apply the decals before the weathering and scratches and paint some of them over the decals. This will further integrate the decals into the miniature.
Greetings from Spain.
I'm pretty sure these exact sculpts were redone in plastic for about 5th edition as i too have painted these sculpts .
Another enjoyable video mate 😊 I had little painting/hobbying time since decades ago but really looking forward to retirement and an orgy of modelling and painting and gaming 😊 I have an old metal chaos army I'd like to do and this did get the urge riled up 😊
Nice job!👍 Death World Forest from GW might work as a base color match to your gretchin green
Thank you
Looking great matey
Thank you
Just stunning!
Aw thank you
Metal Chaos terminators also double up as effective caltrops... if you're being chased a by barefoot ruffian.
Ah good to know
Nice Biker Terminators ! ! !
I love your whimsy, great narrative 👌🏼
😍
