I have the CS Drop Forged Survivalist & the Wasp both so far are awesome. Any update on how yours is holding up?

Yes in fact (and thank you for asking 🙂); I’ve used it to to prep and maintain several hour long camp fires in my back yard. This includes heavy and light chopping and making smaller cuts. The Survivalist has so far proven to be a tank just blowing through wood material. I did notice some uncomfortable vibration at the very pommel end while chopping old hardened wood. It’s still razor sharp too. I also find the cutting edge geometry to be very slicy, which makes this quite a capable and versatile blade. Good grip from the improved handle and over all a fun cutting tool!

I plan to get one of them in 52100 steel

Awesome knife! Loving the steel too, it takes a screaming sharp edge and strops back easy. Great choice

Thanks for letting me know how well it sharpens back up, Tony. I've put a good beat down on it but so far it still slices paper!

@@hazard502 I heard somewhere that the Spyderco fans lobbied hard to get some 52100 versions. Sal relented eventually. I understand the appeal of the steel now. I have the smaller (sensible) one too but still prefer the Survivalist.

Interesting, I’m not too familiar Busse knives. Thx for pointing that out.

Thanks a bunch! :) I'm hoping to do a follow up after giving the Survivalist a good run.

If it can stand up to its own sheath material, it can stand up to anything.

Great knives great knives! I own both and anyone would be very happy with those knives.

      Agreed! Both are quality tools.

Oh, look! Another knife that won't stay sharp worth a shit because the sheath is glass-filled nylon and dulls the fuck out of it every time you use it. Why don't they just ship it with a sheath full of sand and be honest about it?

You know what, I had to go take a really close look to see if there's a lot of contact on the edge when using the sheath. There's a little wiggle room so there is some contact but not a lot. In this case I'd say the negative effect is minimal to none.

@@hazard502 It's never minimal to none with that material unless it's lined with something else.
