Thank you for posting this video. However the order of fixes should be reversed. It is much easier to check on driver fixes than opening up the computer. The windows updates frequently cause issues. On quite a few occaisions I found that bluetooth has been disabled for example. For my laptop, I went first to the device manager, clicked on the Batteries category, right-clicked on the "Microsoft AC Adapter" and selected "update driver." Although there was no applicable update, just doing that brought my battery immediately up from 0% to 45%.

@@PC_Monkey Sadly, after using it for a while I found that the battery had died again. So ordered a new one and will try it out. Since it is my backup computer, I don't really mind it went out. There is an interesting difference between the batteries, however. The new one has the following specs: 11.1V(says it is compatible with 10.8V) and 6 cells. The old one was 10.8V and 8 cells. Doubt it will make much difference, but would like to get more than a year out of it (the original battery lasted 6 years).
Hello PC monkey, thanks for the nice video! It's very helpful! Recently my thinkpad X1 carbon(4th gen) becomes very slow once its power is lower than a certain value (like 60%). Meanwhile if it is connected to a charger, I can see the battery error (255% charge or battery not connected), and the charge indicator starts to blink and will continue to blink even after I turned off my PC. I tried many ways to solve this problem, for now only removing and reconnecting the battery can make the PC back to functional, but the problem will happen again if the power goes down to a certain value. I just replaced a new AC adaptor three months ago, so I guess it is not the origin; and since charging problem continues with the computer turned off, then it is not related to the software or drivers. I'm considering replacing the battery. What's your suggestion? Thank you for your patience!

Hey man! I've got a slight different problem. When my laptop is turned off it charges normally and also it gets turned on and still charges but after reaching around 50-60% the charging stops and it doesn't seem to charge the laptop unless I shut down the pc. I've already checked that the conservation mode is off so any suggestions? If the laptop reaches 100% charge while turned off, it works normally when I turn on and it gets charging throughout and remains 100% but as soon as I switch off the power again the same problem persists.

I have a Lenovo ideapad Flex 5, so I don't know what other models have this but its worth a check. When I went to unscrew my bottom to get to the battery, I found that the star screw is smaller than what I have and couldn't obtain it. I decided to go into the bios settings (Can be done in Windows via Settings -> Update & Security -> Recovery -> Restart Now -> More Settings -> EUFI Firmware Settings). In the bios I found a setting to disconnect the battery for service. This will disconnect the battery until an AC adapter is plugged in. I then held the power button for one minute and then plugged the charger in and viola! My laptop can charge again. Thank you PC Monkey! You saved me a bit of frustration!
Hi, thanks for sharing. I have a Lenovo ideapad 300-15isk. Looks like I will have to completely disassemble the whole thing to get the battery out. So I am concerned about starting this. Any hints?

Thank you for posting this video. However the order of fixes should be reversed. It is much easier to check on driver fixes than opening up the computer. The windows updates frequently cause issues. On quite a few occaisions I found that bluetooth has been disabled for example.
