Bro, you have no idea how your video saved my life.. My friend gave me their Lenovo Laptop for OS update and driver installation as the local service center was asking too much for it. I was casually downloding all the softwares and updates and the pc wanted to do a restart. I allowed that and boom.. Installation media is not detected. It was my friends only device and he had he needed it for his classes in a few hours.. I tried everything and it didn't work out. I thought maybe I killed it. Then I found your video.. Turns out that it was just the UEFI/Legacy toggle that needed to be changed.. And I tried putting another drive and all that..

You did not mention one important thing. That is Intel the VMD controller. In some cases that might be the problem, such as Lenovo Intel 11 gen laptops for example (it may happen with some other Intel generations). So what happens, the NVMe SSD will not bi visible for the operating system, after the initial setup, where you choose where to install the operating system to. The solution, you need to disable the Intel VMD controller and switch it to an AHCI mode, only then you will be able to continue with the installation.

Even though I deactivated "secure boot" in itself didn't help. The Intel VMD controller had yet to be turned off and the system was finally recovered. Maybe it will help someone :)

Very informative and thank you for the specific descriptions of changing BIOS settings! I have a Lenovo Laptop T450 running Windows 10, I tried upgrading to an internal 2.5 Western Digital 500 GB SSD, every time I turned the unit off and then back on it could not find the SSD, tried a BIOS update from the Lenovo driver site for SSD, no change, decided to go back to HDD. Could that be incompatibility with WD brand or an issue detecting SSDs? Notice they make no guarantees of compatibility

The laptop that I was trying to repair it won't read anything plugged into the SATA port and when something is plugged into the SATA Port it just gives you an error. It wont even let you boot to a USB drive or enter the BIOS but once you remove the SATA drive you can boot perfectly fine and even see the hidden SSD that uses a Wi-Fi connector not an m.2

I had the same problem with my Acer computer. I ran a defrag scan over night and the next morning I got up, the computer had froze, so I rebooted it and the OS wouldn't load and I went into the BIOS settings and now it says it has no hard drive. I since bought a Mini PC to tide me over until I can afford to get a more powerful machine but I lost a lot of photos and music I was working on, on that other PC, you have any tips as to how I can get it back running again?

Assuming the HDD is still good, then there is a way to install Windows without losing all the DATA. You can see me install Windows to a Lenovo here; th-cam.com/video/l3AVGlVWUsI/w-d-xo.html. In that video, you see me deleting all the partitions before install. That is what deletes the DATA. If you want to save your DATA, do not delete them as seen.

Ive tried to download bios updates which it needs but because the battery is running off ac it wont let me download and run them. It does boot in legacy but it doesnt in Uefi. In case this solution still doesn’t fix your 2100 error, how about giving a try to remove the hard drive and the SATA connector and then replug them again, as 2100 error says hard drive cannot be detected so the issue could be due to loose connection of hard drive. This finally resolved my own 2100 error.

Yes, the data on the drive will be erased. If you wish to save the data, try hooking it up to another working computer with and external hard drive link. If you cannot access your files that way, you will have to bring the drive to a computer shop. Sometimes we can get data off bad drives.
