    I installed this on my jeep wrangler jl today. Video was great. Worst part was breaking basically all the clips on the removeal of the flare. rest of the work was straight forward. Thanks for the video - it was a great guide.

  • @DarkKnight4181

    One thing I recommend when removing the fender: to avoid breaking the clips, if they do not come out easy, if you pull upward (or toward the outside) the fender will come off while leaving the clips attached to the side panel. The clips slide into the fender toward the edge, and can be slid right back out. Then the clips can be removed with a pair of needle nose pliers (squeezing the back behind the panel). This saved me the trouble of replacing them or putting to much force on the fender and breaking something not so easily replaced.

    Not sure if anything has changed but I installed this kit on my 2022 JLUR Xtreme Recon and I DID NOT pull the fender flare or the liner. Maybe the XR has a different inner liner? I ordered 10 of the fender clips when I ordered my Grimm bracket but they did not show up in time for the need date (still haven't). 3 dealerships here and all had zero on hand and even if they did, they wanted $7.50 each (thieves). I decided to explore possibilities of installation without removal of the inner liner and flare because I have a trip on Sunday and breaking fender clips (100% chance you are breaking one or all of them) wasn't in the cards.
    Vehicle: 2022 JLUR XR with 3.6 E-torque. Cannot speak for any other configuration!
    Here is what I did:
    1. assemble the compressor/bracket.
    2. ***Turn the wheels right ( i learned this 1/2 way through!!!) ***
    3. Remove 2 rear xmas tree plugs
    4. Carefully push the inner fender liner up and roll it up so that it is resting on the the tire
    5. Relocate the plug per instructions (if you are a 3.6 E-torque)
    6. You will have to orient the pump and then bench press it up into place. It took me a few tries but it will go.
    7. Finish the install.
    I think if I had the fender clips, I would have pulled the fender but necessity is the mother of invention! Best of luck and great product, GRIMM and thanks to Northridge 4x4 for basically getting me the bracket in 2 days.

    Hey @Northridge 4x4 - then link in the video of the AR Compressor shows a kit with a bracket... I assume that the one that works with the Grim Offroad kit should be just the simple Twin Air Compressor. Can you confirm that this one has all that is needed?

    Thank you for another great video team N4x4! :) I am debating on purchasing this bracket kit for a JLUR 2018 3.6L and I have three main concerns while deciding. First being the heat from the catalytic converter being so close since these are designed to be red hot. While you haven't heard of issue do you think that this might be a concern if airing up during the hot summer months? Also do you think the difficult access might pose some serviceability issues? Last and most important did you guys test this bracket with aftermarket inner fenders and can you please share if it would work with specific brands without issues or trimming required?

    • @northridgenation
      @northridgenation  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We were involved in heat testing when these kits were being prototyped and did not see any issues, including running the compressor under load for an hour with the engine running.
      We also have one in a Gladiator with a 6.4 Hemi swap and haven't had any issues yet.

      @@northridgenation That's great! How about inner fender liners? Have you successfully used after market inner fender liners with this mounting kit?

  • @19nash85
    @19nash85 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Have you heard of anyone having issues with overheating the ARB compressor when installed with the Grimm bracket? If yes, have you heard of anything to do to help reduce heat, possibly wrapping the exhaust components in heat wrap?
    We were trying to air up (20psi -> 35psi) a total of (8) 37" tires over the weekend and on tire #7 the compressor shut off automatically. I assume it was because of heat. The compressor later started to work again after returning to a manageable heat.

    • @northridgenation
      @northridgenation  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yours is the first we've heard of and we've sold hundreds of these kits.
      When we tested the first kits, we ran the compressor for over an hour straight with the engine running and it didn't shut off.
      Make sure the compressor heads are not covered in mud. That would hold the heat in.
      Adding a small 12volt computer fan in that corner to help get more air moving across the compressor would help too.
