The Ginger takes us through an installation of the EPIC Kraken Tire Inflation System for your 2018+ Jeep Wrangler JL or your 2020+ Jeep Gladiator JT.
Release the Kraken! Don't be a chump and air-up your tires one at a time... air-up all 4 tires at once with our EPIC Kraken Air-Inflation System. Lovingly crafted in-house, extensively tested and frequently requested - this kit is ready for prime time.
The EPIC MFG team has put together a CAD-designed mounting system that holds the ARB Twin Compressor under your Jeep passenger seat while plumbing air to both sides of the vehicle for easy, simultaneous, 4-tire inflation.
Kit Contents:
Passenger seat mounting plate.
Driver seat mounting bracket.
4 air lines, fittings, ring terminals, custom wiring harness and cross-over tubes. Everything you need to install.
An air line carry bag with a fancy Kraken branding from our friends at Adventure Trail Gear.
A nifty, high-quality 3M reflective Kraken decal to show your friends you know what's up.
Using only the very best hardware, the mounting plates/brackets are aluminum, anodized black and laser-etched. Fittings and tubes are of superb quality. There simply is not a better 4-tire inflation system available. Ask your mom - she knows.
You will need an ARB Twin Compressor (CKMTA12) - sold separately - which will come with the power wiring harness and the power switch.
This is a no-drill installation and we've made the electrical component of the install super simple with our own plug & play power switch wiring harness (included in the kit).
Please Note:
Right now, this kit only works for Jeep Wrangler JL (2018+, 4 door or 2 door models) and the Jeep Gladiator (2020+). This kit will not work in a Jeep Wrangler JK or any other vehicle.
The kit is designed specifically for the ARB Twin Compressor (CKMTA12). It may be possible to use another pump, but that's up to you.

I just received my Kraken and am blown away. First of all the packaging is top notch - the cardboard box, kit contents checklist, the sealed plastic bags containing the major components, and the Adventure Trail Gear custom cordura zippered pouch. Awesome. As I opened the box to check everything out it just screamed QUALITY. The laser cut brackets, fittings, hose quality, etc. I can't wait to install it. Impressed.

The Kraken arrived last week, patiently waiting on the porch for me to get home and let it breathe. As in the other comments, it was beautiful! I didn't have time to do the full install, but immediately did all the prep work as shown in this video. With only 1 problem, the install went flawless and exactly as shown on here. Problem you ask - Our JT came with the factory mud (weather tech) style floor mats - It never occured to me that the back mat tucks up under the front seat past the seat bolts which doesn't work well with the Kraken plate and compressor. I ended up having to cut the front of the floor mat off so it would line up even with the plate. Not the end of the world (although my wife hasn't noticed yet), knowing beforehand wouldn't have stopped me from getting this system, but I might have thought about a better mat solution before I was pot committed. Unfortunately it's going to be another week before I get to try it all out, but I'm excited.
Finally got around to install. With this video and around an hour or so wallah is installed and running. What an awesome upgrade and peace of mind. Thank you feelers.

Just installed on my '22 JLR and released the Kraken! Awesomeness!!! Took me by myself about 2.5 hrs. Loved following the video for instructions and tips.
My only issue was the rear seat floor mat fitting interferes with the mounting plate. Took me a few cuss words to figure out what the problem was. Noticed in the video that the 4dr rear mat attachment is further aft. No big deal, I simply cut the button off flush.

Just installed on on my 2022 JLUR. I used to use CO2 and just don’t feel like dealing with frequent tank fills. I am super impressed with this kit/ combo and how the compressor is in the cab. Install was straight forward and the finished project is super clean. We’ll done team!!

Our great mechanics from Moab Outfitters (Russ Bartholomew) in Springville Utah installed the Kraken on our 2016 JK Rubicon. They had to modify the under-seat mounting plate specifically manufactured for JL models. Other than that, everything fit to function. We will be testing it at the Moab Easter Jeep Safari this year. This time, I will not be the last person at the end of the trail to finish inflating our 37" tires. Stay tuned for further reviews.
I actually have the JK products brand because of one of your earlier videos. This product looks so much better!! Great job guys! Plan on getting it for our future gladiator. Hopefully y’all have plans for a 4Runner/Tacoma version. My friends are very interested. Thank you!!
I just finished installing the Kraken system on my 2019 JLUR and it works great! If you're going to do onboard air, this is the system to do it with!! Super clean once completed and the instructional video was spot on.
I paired mine with ARB's Pressure Control system. I find the onboard TPMS not as responsive as I would like. Air up or down with presets and auto-off once pressure is reached. Set it and forget it.
You guys at Epic should concider creating an add-on kit for people that want to option ARB's Pressure Control system. It took me a week to source the right parts. I would much rather purchase an add-on kit from a trusted source. Think about it. 🙂

Just installed on a ‘22 392! Very cool everything fit correctly and works…… what are the 2 red pieces for? I assume the f you have air lockers ?

I tried my Kraken system for the first time on the trail and it worked awesome! Several off roaders with other onboard air systems noticed my Kraken system and came over to check it out and were quite impressed. Great design and well made!
Great video and product. Installation was easier then the other two ARB compressors I've installed in our JKs. I wish you had a distributor in the US so we could save that international shipping fee.

Got to post again... first no association with EPIC, but wannabe. Airing up after the trail is a dream. I'm sure I sold a couple to the JL's on either side of me today just doing my air up. Watching my TPMS on the dash with beer in hand is the way. I'm generally not a big fanboy guy (I'm old) but this is the deal.

Stupid question time. Since you install the wiring through a drainplug how do you keep water from coming in when going through water crossings?

Is there a way to route the wiring through the firewall instead of the floor?
You probably could route the wiring through the firewall, probably have to remove the inner fender to gain access enough to locate a place to pass through.
Any thoughts on airing down? My Staun deflators work ok and are quick, but it'd be awesome if all four tires were the same pressure when rock crawling.
In all our videos, you'll see us use TrailHead Deflators - way way better than Stauns. We have them on our website epic-4wd.com
Could the new EGOI dual air compressor fix be made to hook up electrically to your under seat mount? Thinking to install in a 2020 Gladiator.
We designed the Kraken specifically for the gold-standard ARB Dual Air Pump (CKMTA12). The Kraken may work with other pumps, but we're only supporting the ARB ;-)

Yes, you can just pop the red plug in one side and then hook up one tire from the other side and flip the kraken switch!
any upgrades/thoughts to make this set and forget (specify desired PSI and walk away and the compressor will stop when the desired PSI is reached ? )
Nothing at this time. If your Jeep is equipped, you can use the selectable tire fill alert system, which honks your horn at the desired PSI. I've done it a few times, but prefer to just look at the gauge on the dash 6 minutes in ;-)
My factory floor mat drains through that plug, do you have a work around for that?

What do you do when you're out and only have 1 tire to inflate?
This system looks like you have to have lines connected on both sides to maintain pressure. Can you connect a single line to do a single tire when needed?
Is there some sort of quick connect plug you can use to close the opposite side when not needed?
Good question! You leave the red plug in one side and then just hook-up the lines to the other side. Plug a tire into one line and away you go!
Was just about to order this thing and it is listed at $323. I added it to my cart and the price changed to $399. To top it off they are charging $130 shipping fee.
Hello Manny, apologies for the mix-up. Our site uses Geolocation to determine if you're in the USA or Canada and then it's supposed to display and charge in the proper currency. The USA price should be around $323 and the Canadian price is $399. We'll look into why this happened to you before we launch the next batch. I have a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 4Xe, will this system work on the 4Xe? Knowing that it has no alternator! Thanks in advance!
Good question. Yes, this system will work in a Jeep Wrangler 4XE no problem. For example - Brad from Trailrecon has our kit in his white 4XE.

Do you have a kit for putting the compressor anywhere else? Not a fan of having the noisy compressor in the cab.

Yes Sir! Easy Peasy! - Just plug one side with our supplied red plug and hookup one of our air hoses to the other side and go to town!
Odd request… I noticed Trailrecon had the Kraken as well but the power switch was on the drivers side. I would prefer it that way. Is it simple enough to switch sides?
The power switch on the Kraken is only on the passenger side. In TrailRecon's recent video, the switch is on the passenger side as usual. The bracket is made for the passenger side for ease of install, and wiring.

Can you hook the power and ground wires up to the wiring harness that’s already under the dash?
Unfortunately not as the compressor pulls more amperage than the small gauge wires under the dash can handle.

It can be, but it doesn't make much sense as it would be more electrical work... and you need your 4 aux switches for lights!!! Lots and lots of lights! Cheers from the team at EPIC!

Does the compressor get hot enough to damage anything under the seat?
Nope. Tested extensively for years and it's good.
So why exactly won’t work on a JKU? The space under the seat? Or is there another reason why?
The JK and the JL are vastly different inside. The plate is designed for the JL/JT as are the other components like the included electrical wiring, etc. There are many other solutions for the JK available. We might get around to designing a JK version in the future.

Doesn't this obstruct the Rubicon floormats, ours had a camera but through the drain plugs now the floormats don't sit flush and feel weird and loose...
Yes, this will. And perhaps let a bunch of water and mud into your jeep. Ask me how i know, lol.
Yes this would obstruct the OE rubber floor mats but if you do any kind of water crossings those floor mats will let in more water than you know what to do with.
@@TheEPICBeardedGinger Any suggestions then for aftermarket floormats (Epic branded or atleast approved of course) and how to plug them holes (maybe even with out loosing the functionality of opening the drain after a serious mudding incedent) so the water stays out in that case :)

Im stuck, how do i remove the maxi fuses?
Did you ever figure this out? I’m wondering if newer ARB twins are glued in. I’m pulling hard and feel like I’m going to break something if I keep going.

The orange maxi fuses should come out. They are in there pretty hard sometimes.

@@OverNoobin I finally got mine. Using Rigid Robogrips which are just oversized vice grips. You gotta pull hard but once you feel it budge a little it’s golden!

How would this work if I say came up on someone who needed just one tire aired up?
I am wondering about this too. Is there a single hose option?
Simple - You keep the red plug in one side and hook up the other side with the supplied hoses. Connect just one line to someones tire and inflate.

This is the most frustrating thing I have ever seen. Maybe it's just mine, but these fuses will not budge.. I have literally used pliers, I've wedged a flathead under them and tried to use leverage to take them off.. it's like they are welded on or something.
I ended up not taking out the fuses coz it was just way too impossible to remove them. I just left the harness over top of the side of the fender not hooked to anything until everything on the other side was hooked up, and then I hooked the electrical up to the battery last. Works great. Here's praying those fuses never go bad LOL.
You just pull the Maxi Fuses out... however they are in there pretty stiff. Usually I just grip the edges and work it back and forth a little and they pop out. Anyways, glad you got the install done. Cheers from EPIC!
Not trying to be a dick, but this looks like a rip-off of Innovative AT Products. They've been selling a nearly identical system for years. If I'm wrong please correct me.
Good question. Innovative AT makes a great product. We've been installing and using air-up systems from many different manufacturers over the past 20+ years, none of which installed or operated exactly like we wanted. With this kit, we designed it from the ground-up to our specifications and have extensively tested in field. We think that people will like the benefits of our system (ease of install, no-drill, included wiring harness, top quality plates, purge function, etc).
