I was sick watching this as a Pistons fan. Jaden is so deserving of success. He's worked so hard through horrific seasons. He's a high character young man. I just hate it for him and for our team.
Injury did end brons full prime but bron got off with it easy. Gordon Hayward was never the same post this injury. Fuck Cole Anthony was out of the league soon anyways
Cole Anthony isn’t a dirty player but that’s just a reckless play, the exact play that Embiid did that ended Danny Greens career. Players gotta have better awareness, I love the hustle but you gotta keep other players safety in mind.
Isn't a dirty player... But that's a dirty play. Diving towards another player's leg with your entire body at full momentum... He made a split second decision to cause damage.
Man as a Pistons fan this sucks bad. But at the same times soon as it happened I was already waiting for this video to be uploaded. Great work as always doc!
This sucks man. I’m a huge fan of Jaden Iveys game. He was finally hitting that next level in his game I knew he’d reach. I just hope he will recover quickly and fully for next season.
Its a weird injury mechanism because it didn't seem like the Ankle or Knee twisted enough/trapped under the weight of Anthony's body like you sometimes see in NFL injuries. Likely a lower leg fracture. The Chargers LT Baby Blue jersey in the background is clean!
A sprain can occur in any part of the body where ligaments are located, and if Jaden Ivey experienced a sprain in his foot or ankle, it would be called a foot or ankle sprain.
From a Detroit Native this is very unfortunate maaaaan thanks DOC Brian Sutterer for helping us understand his injury a bit more he has been playing great basketball recently too!!
Happy New Year Doc. I'm surprised you didn't cover Matthias Lessort injury in the Euroleague recently. probably one of the most gruesome ones i've seen in my lifetime.
Doc is quick, but he didn’t cover WR Tank Dell injury which happened on National TV. I was waiting for that one…which turned out to be a significant injury that required multiple surgeries. Praying for Ivey
As always, great job in explaining the diagnosis. Happy New Year to you.although your videos are of unfortunate injuries your presentation is therapeutic in its own way. Thank you
As a Pistons fan, I figured this would be a season-ender; we haven't been allowed to have nice things for a long time. I think the real worry our fanbase is going to have is: Is this injury a carrer-alterer? He's 22 and was finally getting into his stride after the lost year under Mont Williams and I'd hate for somebody else didivng for a loose ball to be what robs him of his potential. I can accept it being season ending, but is this something he can make a full recovery from without losing his athleticism or explosiveness?
Shut him down and don't rush him back so he is fully healed by next season he is too valued for your team and his own health for his future in not only the NBA but for his regular life as well as he has a wife and 2 kids. Brutal injury the Pistons will play this year for him
Ouch’s ma-goucha! Dang those are so hard to see!!! Thank you for your detailed explanations. When I saw this, I thought his knee would have been significantly involved. Prayers for Jaden!
Greet work doc! I know you dont cover hockey much. probably because its not popular But a controversial injury happened to Jared Spurgeon on the 31st that could be a good candidate to breakdown! Keep up the good work!
Currently recovering from a Weber C fracture. Knew exactly what was going on as soon as I saw the replays on that play. I wish Ivey a healthy recovery.
A sprain can occur in any part of the body where ligaments are located, and if Jaden Ivey experienced a sprain in his foot or ankle, it would be called a foot or ankle sprain.
Fun story: my sophomore year of high school I played varsity football (I’m cool, just kidding it’s important to note). Being a linebacker we got a fumble recovery, so me and a senior defensive lineman jumped in the air and it pads. I landed on his foot and rolled my ankle. This resulted in my talus being fractured. It was only a fracture and nothing involving ligaments so the pain wasn’t that bad. So, I kept playing. In the third quarter I couldn’t run anymore and my ankle was swollen to the size of a softball. After meeting with the podiatrist, I was given a choice.. either 4 months of no weight bearing crunching to see if heals naturally, or perform surgery creating blood cartilage into my talus. I chose the former. How naive. It did not heal, so I had to have the surgery after 4 months and another 4 months of crutching followed. To skip a lot of details, my left calf is now way more defined than my right, but with way less ankle mobility (I’m guessing from all the hopping I did on my right leg for 8 months, the muscles just are what they are, while my left got a whole reset). It took maybe 5-7 years for the swelling to stop whenever I played recreational sports and exercise. Lastly, now over 12 years since the injury, every few days my ankle gets stiff and releases the most satisfying crack, but I know full well of the arthritis to come.
🙏 🙏 🙏 to Jaden Ivey and his family that he recovery from his scary injury as soon as possible in this sport only in this video in life right know today for us only okay

I thought if his heel was still on the ground the MCL was more likely, but it looked like he got hit as he was transferring force from heel to the toe.
I don’t think it was intentional but it was still a reckless play. Gotta be more aware of the players around you especially if you’re diving for a loose ball. Speedy recovery to Jaden Ivey.
Rolled my ankle out like this by landing on someone else’s foot. Deltoid ligament , spring ligament full torn. High grade tears on everything else. Had to have surgery and was disabled for 18 months. Most pain I have ever experienced. My leg from the knee down turned dark purple/ black. Horrible injury.
Dr. Sutterer, Would there be any knee pathology here? It seems like he might have ACL, medial meniscus and medial collateral ligament damage, is this the case or is it just ankle? Thank you

I love your videos. Quick question, how do you know if the fibula is not affected since it was on his left leg and the fibula is more lateral? Also can you explain how you know it is the tibia talar joint and not the talocrural please?
I didnt see the game... if this was truly a reckless play the player diving should be suspended for however long Ivey is out... No I am not a pistons fan I am a Raps/Spurs fan but I dislike diving for no reason
