Yeah let’s pray for the nba player who is going to pay full coverage of his injury and be healthy eventually. Yeah it’s so tough we need DIVINE intervention for this.
As someone who has broken a leg I can verify it’s terrible pain and a very difficult injury to recover from. Hope Ivey can be ok. My leg break effectively ended my competitive soccer career but I’m confident Ivey can recover better than me. Edit. I gave some detail in my reply but it’s now confirmed Ivey has the exact same injury I had, broken fibula.
Sorry to hear this happened to you. If you don’t mind me asking, when you say it ended your career, what was it specifically? Of course you missed time to train and maintain your skills and stay in shape, but when you fully healed and went back, was it just too late time-wise? did you just not “feel” the same with that leg when trying to play at the level you used to? I can’t imagine the feeling of having to step away from sport due to injury, compared to voluntarily choosing to after many years of playing.
@ pretty much what you said. My injury was in late high school. What my actual injury was (you can skip this if you don’t care) I was playing a casual indoor soccer league during the winter. It was on not so good turf so I had a non-contact injury. I planted my foot to change directions and when I tried to move my body moved but my leg/ankle did not. I was able to walk off the field but I later went to the hospital bc I thought my ankle was sprained or something but I ended up having a broken leg. I broke my fibula (smaller calf bone) and it doesn’t bare much of your body weight so that explains how I was able to walk on a broken leg. This was years ago so my time table may be slightly wrong. My treatment was I was in a walking boot and I had to put no weight on it and use crutches (use a knee scooter instead) for 6 weeks, then I had to keep the boot on but I could ditch the crutches for another 6-8 weeks. Then my doctor recommended I do physical therapy for another 2-3 months while I was prepping for the season. So about 5-6 months before I could do anything resembling training. I quit when I went to my club teams first conditioning session to prep for the season. Of course conditioning is never easy but since I was out of practice for 6 months my cardio shape was pretty much gone. I wasn’t good enough to be getting college offers or anything so I quit because it likely would’ve been my last year anyway and I didn’t see the point in doing all that training to get back to good conditioning when it gave me no long term benefit. I played as a wing back and usually played full games minus 5-10 minutes to give a bench guy playing time. So my stamina was a massive part of my game. With that gone I was neutered.
@ even now I sometimes like to play adult rec leagues for fun but I’m a shell of my former self because I have no stamina. Of course I could solve this by working out more but it’s far easier to work out when you’re already in pretty good shape vs being forced to start from scratch like my injury made me do.
For those wondering. He broke his left fibula bone in his left leg. He already underwent surgery and is going to be re-evaluated in four weeks. On a little happier note Detroit Pistons won this game. Prayers for Jaden.
