8:30 I also had my shoulder disclocated, after landing a left hook my whole arm went numb + i got the same feeling you get when you hit that spot on your elbow but on the whole length of my arm. Seconds later i grabbed it with my right arm which made it pop back in. Month later im close to a full recovery, trained gymnastics today, did some handstands. It hurts ocasionally but im glad i can move my arm and train again.
What would you say is the pain scale for that? Have you dislocated it multiple times? asking bc i Experienced my first dislocation (elbow) a couple years back. Not sure how bad the shoulder hurts but this was by far the most excruciating pain i’ve ever been it. Didnt dare look at it when I fell but for some reason I already knew exactly what happened, lol. Huge pop. I can hyperextend it really far now after a couple surgeries but I honestly worry it will dislocate again ?
I was in a serious transport accident in the US Navy back in 2004 (Bus accident, you can look it up easy, slow news day). Both my legs were crushed, one was amputated. The one that i kept was having a real tough time healing due to gaps in the bone where there were missing pieces. Since I was active duty, the military covered my "new experimental treatment" which was...a Bone Stimulator. You cannot expect a 19 year old to continually use a bone stimulator while calling it that. I eventually needed the rod in my tibia removed, had a larger hole reamed for a new rod, and the shavings were placed in the gap at the break, which with some more bone stimulation, eventually bridged together and healed up. Took 15 months, cool to see they have improved, cause it used to be almost the size of a briefcase.
I’ve heard there is more head trauma & damage to the brain in boxing because of the repeated punches to the head. Head punches are half of boxing. Meanwhile in MMA you can attack the legs, body shot, go to the ground and wrestle.
@@Bald_and_Brown Yeah that certainly makes sense. The more variability of fighting styles and targets in MMA means a much larger variety of injuries, but much less consequentially so. When your only targets are the torso and the head, it seems the risk of debilitating injuries to the head will be much higher and more dangerous.
@@Bald_and_Brown I’ve heard that as well. My friend’s husband was a professional MMA fighter and she said something similar. I’d been interested to see if the data supports the anecdotal evidence.
@@Bald_and_Brown There is also no 10 count in MMA so if someone is knocked down and not defending properly the fight will stop, it is also easier to knock someone out with the smaller gloves they use and that is actually a good thing regarding brain injurys its way more healthy for you brain to get knocked earlier in the fight than going 12 rounds taking 100's of small punches to your head

Over the years, not much has changed for me, but seeing that even someone successful like Dr. Mike doesn't have a perfect life-no family, just a dog and more money-brings me a bit of comfort. It's not about finding joy in others' struggles, but realizing that even the seemingly best have their own challenges. This motivates me to keep going. Thanks, Dr. Mike.
Some of these injuries are absolutely insane! Also request: Could you react to horseback riding injuries? I'm an equestrian and I'd love to see your take on it!
@@TeutonicEmperor1198 Sadly it's around 100 per year in North America alone, and most are head related injuries. Lots of people get injuries in their spine and neck as well, which can have life changing effects.
@@DawnTheEquestrian Are you serious? Oh my God! I knew that many people have died falling from horseback throughout history, but 100 people per years, nowadays? That's insane. Do you know if the head related injuries are mostly either skull fractures or kneck hyperextentions?
@@TeutonicEmperor1198 Most are skull related. And half of the injuries happen when we aren't even riding, since being kicked/bitten isn't very unheard of. Most people outside of the sport do assume it's easy, but all of the injuries are one of the reasons we get so defensive when people tell us it isn't a sport haha.
@@DawnTheEquestrian I can see how a 500kg behemoth kicking someone to the face with it's metal horseshoe can easily kill them. I was bitten once by a donkey and it was really painful so I can imagine, even though it was skin deep. Only people with low IQ can assume horse riding as easy. I have ridden horses twice and was really difficult. And those horses were calm as senile sheep. Maybe one of them was a mule, I'm not sure. From my understanding, people who engage in competitive horse riding are forced to spend half of their days bonding and practicing with their steeds. So they are like any other professional athlete, right?

Ooh! Okay! So, I didn't know about the little ultrasound machine for bone healing, but I honestly would not be surprised if its frequency is very similar to a cat's purr! Research has shown that that frequency actually helps speed up healing, which is why cats have been known to purr when injured, and not just when they're happy. Also, watching all this reminded me of a Muay Thai match I watched when I was a kid. The fighter kicked his opponent in the face, and I don't know what he had going on in that leg, but when he brought it back down and put weight on it, his tibia snapped and the bone came right out the side.
I watched the McGregor Vs Poirier fight live. When McGregor fell, I genuinely thought he broke his leg and when I found out he did, I was shocked because as a boxer myself, I have had some nasty injuries and cuts but I almost broke my leg too and it was lucky I didn't. Great Vid, keep doing your thing Mike ❤🙏
Didn't have Anderson Silva's leg literally snapping on him as he went in for a kick against Chris Weidman on UFC 168. Tibia literally wrapped around Weidman's shin. Really thought that'd be in here.
MEEE TOO. Seeing that fight back in the day was shocking to see. I remember the entire room of people all making the same sound like "OOOOOOOOOOOH" watching the replay of his leg snapping.
I think we need a part two! Specifically to cover Silva/Weidman's leg breaks, and MVP vs Cyborg for the most brutal bone fracture of all time. Also Jacare Souza getting his arm broken

Hi mike, nice content. While watching the video i remembered a floof besides the newf. ROXY!!!! I miss her and im sure others do too. Can you please give us an update on her? Please and thank you❤❤❤
The first few times i dislocated my right shoulder it hurt like hell, but i always was able to pop it back in myself. After a few more times it didn't even really hurt anymore, but was super inconvenient since it happened all the time. Fixed it with a very good physical therapist who of course didn't get the labrum back in place but helped me to build muscle to stabilize the shoulder and also taught me what movements to avoid.
@@pushpathakur7842 Sure, but i can only advice you to get your own therapist, cause every injury is different. Basically i was told to avoid putting sudden pressure on the arm while the arm is overhead or twisted. For example in basketball, if someone hits the ball against your hand, while it's overhead and you don't have time to flex the muscle to counteract the impact on the shoulder joint. The exercises began with low weight lat pulls, rotator cuff training, face pulls, front and side raises and also mobility training. After i had the basic stability back (after about half a year) i got new exercises to pretty much train every muscle that is connected to the shoulder area. Back pulls, push ups, chin ups, chest and back flys, pull ups, triceps and biceps, bench press, shoulder press and so on, while keeping up with the mobility training. i wish you all the best to heal your shoulder and getting better.
1:45 I fixed my own nose the first time I got it destroyed in a fight when living overseas. Got both hands and I felt the cartilage crunching into place but hey, beats a dice roll trip to a Saudi doctor. Nose has been fine all these years since, but I do notice I have way more room in my right nostril than my left. The cartilage is slightly bending to one side
Perhaps the most interesting injury I can recall from a UFC fight was when Josh Koscheck's own corner displaced a zygomatic fracture between rounds, sent him back out to keep getting punched, and he suffered permanent nerve damage in his face.
My coach always used to say “fighters will always fight” which is why it’s important to have coaches and doctors who will force them not to for their own good.
Hello doctor Mike, good afternoon, I loved the video, it is incredible all the punishment that the fighters receive. In boxing fights like MMA, fighters cut their weight through dehydration, for example, in MMA a middleweight fighter has to weigh 185 lb, he cuts his weight by dehydrating, after weighing he rehydrates and now weighs 215 lb which would be his natural weight (or walking weight as they call it). I believe that doing this over and over again can have a very negative effect on the body, and in the long term cause many health problems. It would be great if you made a video where you can explain all the negative effects that this can generate.
3:08 this sort of happened to me once. i was sitting on my foot and when i went to stand up i couldn’t feel my foot at all and ended up just rolling my ankle and falling. twas not fun
Great video as always. However you should react to AFL's (Australian football league) worst injuries as it is one of the most dangerous sports out there and nit very known outside of Australia.
I feel for Bisping, as it seems he could have caught it sooner. My mother has had several detached retinas - EDS runs in the family. I will never forget the day when I stopped by my friend's house, to say hello to his mom on a whim, after he moved out of town, to check up on her. In our conversation, she casually mentioned she was experiencing the same symptoms. I immediately took her to the ER and she was straightaway scheduled for emergency surgery. She has since survived cancer, and still thanks me to this day, saying she would rather have died than lost her vision. I say, it was only one eye, and instead, thank God for putting the thought and impulse in me to visit her at random, when I never had before. Bless you Ms. H.
Shoutout to Doctor Mike I learned so much from him that now everytime I watch my favourite TV shows I start arguing out loud with the characters if there's any medical inaccuracy. And you know it's so fun when you watch classic sci-fi show like Stargate X'D

I read wild horse injuries and immediately thought: Wait, would he review the injuries the HORSES would get? 😂😅
😂 Poor horses.
Yasssssss I wish I had video of my last OTTB concussion 😅😅
i sign this
literally just commented this
8:30 I also had my shoulder disclocated, after landing a left hook my whole arm went numb + i got the same feeling you get when you hit that spot on your elbow but on the whole length of my arm.
Props to whoever collected these clips. A great selection and even I didn’t know about jds’ shoulder
2:15 Docter Mike know he wrong for putting that sound effect in💀
I appreciate you sharing human moments of the struggle to watch these. How do UFC injuries differ from boxing injuries?
Boxing is just punching to the head and body. UFC most anything goes. Kicking ,Choking, Body Slams etc.
Whenever I see Dr Mike posted a new video I always watch till the end and never get bored or distracted ( I usually get distracted very easily) and I love how he explains everything so we can understand him . Thank you for that Dr Mike .🫀
Same here
Its strange that i misread the "Skull bruise" on the thumbnail to "skill issue" man im so high
I’m glad you’re sharing your input on these injuries.
Being a teen many many years ago we would do some stupid things.
Broke bones cuts you name it.
Today with the internet sharing stupidity it’s becoming a plague.
I’m glad I live in Canada and most medical expenses are paid and I couldn’t imagine the cost of a simple operation.
I think your show should be shared in every High school where a stupid decisions could be avoided.
Not saying everyone should sit in front of computers and go the opposite end of the health spectrum but just giving people an idea of what could happen
I enjoyed your show because I still end up with some pretty bad injuries even though I’m very careful
Thanks again
i love ufc so much but it’s crazy how bad the injuries can get
when i startedBack when I started following Dr. Mike, I was a bit lost and feeling like I wasn't going anywhere.
How often do people die from falling from horseback?
DR MIKE! Can you teach us about drug addiction and the stigmas around it? People don't understand its a disease. I lead group therapy and was looking for a video of you talking about drug addiction but I can't find one! Thank you for teaching so many of us.
A volleyball injuries video would be cool because that is another sporting league and the injuries are always interesting on how they happen or what they are
Ooh!
@doctormikevashavski3212 scam
Chris Weidman suffer the same inquires later on in carrier ....
I think we need a part two! Specifically to cover Silva/Weidman's leg breaks, and MVP vs Cyborg for the most brutal bone fracture of all time. Also Jacare Souza getting his arm broken
Very interesting stuff. Appreciate your work.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASEEE do ice hockey, it soo rough especially in British leagues!
Hi Dr Mike , to love to hear your take about our Heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou and having the hard punch in the world recorded and the way he knocks out his appionants till they are completely shut down with his KO
@doctormikevashavski3212 scam
Everyone report the very obviously fake Dr. Mike account above me. People don’t even attempt to look or sound convincing these days. ☝🏻😅
I'm a former professional basketball player and I've dislocated my should and it took me months to figure out what was wrong with my shoulder. I never stopped playing but I was playing with a dislocated shoulder. Professionals work on a different level. Pain is life period. The one thing I was taught was pain is normal, injuries need to be taken care of but when it's win or die it becomes how much pain can you deal with......
This is why I love TH-cam! It makes it easier to find Doctors like Dr Mike. 😁
as a diehard mixed martial artist and huge UFC fan, this video was amazing
Hockey injuries can be brutal, both field and ice. Would be cool if you looked at some of those
He looks physically hurt when diagnosing those injuries.
A bit of misconception with the Bisping eye injury as of recent, fans discover old interviews of Bisping talking about issues with the eye prior to the Vitor fight. Probably Vitor was the guy who finally destroyed it
You need to react to painful gymnastics injuries next
Love your videos
I found you two from the shorts section but I'm so glad I found you! Your the most adorable couple ever. It's the most wholesome lovely marriage I've seen in a long time. I hope you two last forever
Hi mike, nice content. While watching the video i remembered a floof besides the newf. ROXY!!!! I miss her and im sure others do too. Can you please give us an update on her? Please and thank you❤❤❤
yes how is she doing? 😊
Can you give me brief list of actions to avoid and exercises to stabilise the joint.. Thanks
Love your content!!!
One of the best fights I've ever watched.
Could you do horseback riding injuries?
Perhaps the most interesting injury I can recall from a UFC fight was when Josh Koscheck's own corner displaced a zygomatic fracture between rounds, sent him back out to keep getting punched, and he suffered permanent nerve damage in his face.
He randomly popped up on my fyp, I didn't watch him for such a long time! It was just a blast of nostalgia
Crazy how many Commercials somebody can have in a 10min video
must jus be u cause i didn’t have a single one
You mean ads?
He is capable Dr to recognize by seeing patient...Excellent
Doc, many years ago, I was a kickboxer, I also moonlighted as a medic with a Doctor who was also a fighter, great memories!.
First girl looking like Megamind after that fight
💀
3:08 this sort of happened to me once. i was sitting on my foot and when i went to stand up i couldn’t feel my foot at all and ended up just rolling my ankle and falling. twas not fun
Same
Great video as always.
no because every second i had to look away yet this is my favorite thing!
0:52 Dude got his so fast even his body had a late reaction.
0:12 she got turned into Dr Zomboss
Made my day
4:53 i know what ur thinking
what?

Never seen this chanel before really enjoyed this video 🔥🔥
Shoutout to Doctor Mike I learned so much from him that now everytime I watch my favourite TV shows I start arguing out loud with the characters if there's any medical inaccuracy. And you know it's so fun when you watch classic sci-fi show like Stargate X'D
10:45 Burp or gag? lol
You should react to worst parkour injuries
Gotta love these videos!
The Lord Of The Rings was shot on Vitor's back during that fight 🤣 SO JUICY🧃🧃
Hope you'll do more of these, very interesting 👍🏻
I would love to see Dr. Mike react to PBR (professional bull riding) injuries.
It’s a beautiful day when mike upload s
Bisping actually fought quite a few times without his eye after that. Basically ended his career fighting the best in the world with one eye. Absolute gangster
the fact that after they fall the others keep punching him 😭
Its manly instinct to assert dominance 😭
Been patiently waiting years for this reaction video
Make a part two of soccer injuries bleeding ear, torn acl
Hey @DrMike, can you look at injuries in All Elite Wrestling?
