Martina McBride has never been one to turn away from the hard issues in life. She sang Independence Day at an awards show 8 months pregnant and you could hear a pin drop in the crowd.
A little boy angel was waiting for her to bring her home..... If just one person was moved enough to pick up a phone, and call an incident in, and save a child, the song did its job.... Just one person like you, who hears this song and is no longer afraid of any consequences, makes the call...
It's so damn heartbreaking that a grown person would hurt a child. I'm sorry, but it's really the only time I use bad language. Children are so pure and should be protected at all costs.. I wad that child that got molested starting at 10..you just want to kill yourself.
@@taliaba I went through this, but one kind neighbor finally told the police that my stepfather was looking at me with a ladder every night.. Its been hard; its made me a hard person. I'm so proud my Mom wasn't one who looked the other way. She called the police every time she needed to for my friends. She feed them, made them clothes, kept them at our house as much as possible. Took them to church, made sure they had breakfast and were properly dressed for school. They are still my best friends 53 years lster.
Wow this one was tough. This is a perfect example of how music makes you feel something, touches your soul. If you don’t feel something after watching this video, you don’t have a heart. Wow.
The little boy was an angel sent by God to help Angela as she passed from this world to the next. He brought a little bit of joy to her final days and helped welcome her into heaven. It's probably the only way to find comfort amid such a horrible scenario. I'm grateful that Martina brought attention to a tragic issue in our society, but I pray for a day that this song is no longer necessary.
One of the best female vocalist ever, also one of the saddest songs ever. This bring the tears every time. The world needs to be kind to others without all the opposition and hatred for one another. This story is all to familiar in todays society.
My grandma once said, when she heard about something someone had done, "I don't understand how somebody could do that". She said she would always remember what her friend responded - "You're not supposed to be able to understand that". Acknowledge, respond to, yes. Understand, no, good people can't understand evil.
I'm not emotionally tough enough yet to listen to country all the time - and this is why. Very beautiful song. Her voice is beautiful and I've always thought she was one of the most beautiful women in the world. But I have chronic PTSD and songs like this mess me up. I hate suffering and I especially hate child abuse and/or neglect. I saw it almost every night working the midnight shift in the poorest part of the city. I was shot point-blank in the face while trying to arrest a man on domestic violence charges. Yeah, my world has been upside down since then. It's been 25 years and it's been extremely rough to just navigate this life. I've gotten much better through countless hours of therapy, prayer, group meetings, and unfortunately, the scripts they love to push out. I'm so thankful that I gave my life to Jesus Christ several years ago bc my perception of things have changed drastically. If it's something I can't rectify in my brain - like what happened in this song - I ask Him to take it from me, otherwise I would be an absolute mess just from watching this video, for example. I am no longer the pilot on my flight through life. I'm just the co-pilot that has to turn the controls over to Thee Pilot when skies get rough. Prayers for anyone who is currently in an abusive situation or have been victims of it in the past. The perpetrators will be Judged one day. I personally find comfort in that for many of my own situations. ✌❤

Everyone please remember that children of abuse are not always kids from a low income or poor household. I have seen both situations and the salary of the parents did not matter. I like country so much for the issues that it deals with. Not always as serious as this, but it tends not to be a superficial genre, with exceptions. At least the country music I like. It's hard to take children going trough things they shouldn't have to, but our pain on this earth is passing and these innocent souls will find lasting peace. Really like your message in this video, God bless.

I cry every single time I hear this song. Almost forty years ago I had to do a pediatric rotation. I almost dropped out. I came home and cried every day during that rotation. It was so awful. There was a patient I will remember till the day I die. She was 2 MONTHS OLD and was in the hospital with both femurs broken. She had to be in traction while the hospital tried to find an orthopedic surgeon who could try to help her. I would go into her room and hold her tiny hands and sing to her hoping I could at least let her know that someone cared. The fact that both of her parents were behind bars was the only thing that got me through that. I ended up up spending my career in geriatrics. It was still sad but at least they had lived their lives and I made sure that some was always there to hold their hand when they left this earth. I still cry and wonder what happened to that little girl. I like to believe she ended up with a good family who loved her with their whole heart. I will never understand how someone could abuse a child.
One thing I do appreciate about the Country Music Genre is that they don't shy away from the hard topics, but instead produce songs like this to make people aware and to hopefully bring some change to the world. As heartbeaking as these songs are there is someone out there that has seen and/or heard it and they havee acted on it and have made a difference in someones life. when I was much much younger my mom owned a Daycare center. The stories I can tell you of the abuse I saw... some still bother me, 40 years later. I love this song and I am glad she is bringing awareness that this stuff happens. I cry everytime I listen.
I drive a school bus, and this song always hits hard. We see a lot of things that other school staff don't. We see the houses they come from and we see how they interact with parents if the parents are even there. That being said, all school staff are now considered mandatory reporters, and if we suspect or see anything, no matter where it happens, we have to report it to DHHR, local and state police within 24 hours. If we don't report and it can be proven that we knew something was going on, we could be prosecuted.
This song hits close to home for me. I was put into foster care along with my two siblings due to child neglect. Even though it was a tough childhood, it was better than the alternative.
This song still gets me every time. Martina sang about some pretty devestating topics but this happens. Love Martina. Dolly and Martina are my 2 fave American country singers and Shania and k.d. Lang are my Canadian faves. All beautiful singers and 3 are song writers. Not sure if Martina has ever written some of her songs. Maybe someone else knows. ♥️ from a 🇨🇦 Grammy

She is truly one of the power voices of a generation! You should be able to find the video fairly easily, it is here on YT.
I'm a 67 year old man and I cried the first time I saw this video. I've gotten misty-eyed every time since. Martina is a stunningly beautiful woman with an equally stunning voice. Similar theme with a different style is Pat Bennatar's "Hell is for Children". That one bothered me even before I became a dad. Incredibly sad we need songs about this.
I saw this listing go up this morning but the look on your face the few words asking you could do this one. Finally, abut 1115 pm cutiosty got the best of me. Tough story and song. Martina has several songs about difficult subjects, using her platform to raise awareness. An you are correct, these are tough to listen to. 'Love you through it' is about Cancer, 'Independence Day' is about spousal abuse. For a fun love song, 'My baby loves me' and a positive uplifting one is 'Anyway', one of my favs.
Martina is one of the best female vocalists of any genre and she uses her voice to confront social issues. Jennifer Nettles of the band Sugarland is also a phenomenal vocalist check out (for a fun video) "Down in Mississippi (and up to no good)" Live! Also "Stay" "Baby Girl" and "It happens" It is necessary for you to react to these kinds of songs that are like "Concrete Angel" You are on a platform to bring awareness. Every view helps.

That being said, all school staff are now considered mandatory reporters, and if we suspect or see anything, no matter where it happens, we have to report it to DHHR, local and state police within 24 hours. If we don't report and it can be proven that we knew something was going on, we could be prosecuted.
This is hard to take for sure! Country music does not back down when it comes to social issues! Great reaction! Love your channel!
She is incredible thanks Steve appreciate you👍
Appreciate you!! 😄
This song hits close to home for me. I was put into foster care along with my two siblings due to child neglect. Even though it was a tough childhood, it was better than the alternative.
So sorry you had to go through something like that! 🙏🏻
I just love you to pieces
Thanks so much! ❤️
Amen sir amen ❤❤❤
This song still gets me every time. Martina sang about some pretty devestating topics but this happens. Love Martina. Dolly and Martina are my 2 fave American country singers and Shania and k.d. Lang are my Canadian faves. All beautiful singers and 3 are song writers. Not sure if Martina has ever written some of her songs. Maybe someone else knows. ♥️ from a 🇨🇦 Grammy
Martina was born and raised in my state.
The boy was an angel too
I'm blubbering like the first time I heard it.
Her friend and the other children are angels who probably also died from abuse.
I've put off watching this video! this is my first time hearing this song! i experienced it with you!!
I'm heartbroken as much as you are!
i love your reactions, and you're quickly becoming my favorite!!
It was definitely a rough one to get through! So glad you are enjoying the channel and have a great day! 😄
Amen brother.
Thanks!
@@CatherineJohnson-yz2rm You’re awesome!! Thank you for your support of the channel! It helps more than you know! 😁🙏🏻
You're a good man❤
Really appreciate the kind words! ❤️
You should check out Martina McBride singing Independence Day
It’s on the channel! Such a great tune! 🎶
If you're looking for a good Martina McBride performance that really shows off her "power voice", check out the 2002 CMT Awards video of her doing "Where Would You Be?" - it will blow your socks off! She is truly one of the power voices of a generation! You should be able to find the video fairly easily, it is here on YT.
If you hear this song and it doesn't get you in the feels, you need to check your pulse and your humanity.
I am unable not to cry watching this. Children should not have to deal with this. Love your reaction! God Bless You!
God Bless you too!! ❤️
I changed my mind. You're a good guy. ❤

Geese...I'd forgotten about Hell is for children...
It's not a happy one, but Martina McBride's Indepence Day is another great song of hers.
I saw this listing go up this morning but the look on your face the few words asking you could do this one. Finally, abut 1115 pm cutiosty got the best of me. Tough story and song. I don’t know much about Martina but would probably research if before hitting play. I know that isn’t what you do on the channel. Doing it your way is much more interesting and (often) emotional.
My chiidhood
So sorry
@@rhondaserges5136 The worst part was at 9 yrs old trying to get myself and younger brother off to school wading through pile of dirty clothes to get dressed and show up smelling and mismatched. Thank God the state took us out before we ended up concrete Angels.....
@@rhondaserges5136 And thank u for ur kind words
@@roberthaizlip4057 I'm glad higher powers were looking out. May the rest of your life be better.
@@rhondaserges5136 It's been rocky but thank God I'm here still and raising my own kids the total opposite. I prob go too far the other way making their lives too easy and spoiled lol
Another 2 songs with a great message is I'LL WALK by Bucky Covington but has no music video a real shame and TJE CALL by Matt Kennon that has a great video with an even better message of hope and love
If you have a heart this song will break it
Martina has several songs about difficult subjects, using her platform to raise awareness.
Don't forget "His Hands" with Brandy Clark.
