Tidbit of info on this video. When the house is burning, Martina knew that they had only one shot at that part, so while she is standing near the burning house and singing, she was scorched by the heat, but didn't tell anyone until the shoot was done. Staff and EMS were so impressed with her professionalism and the fact that she didn't complain says a lot about her.
A Broken Wing and Where Would You Be are two of her songs that you need to listen to live. Your jaw will drop at her true ability. Also the song His Hands with Jennifer Nettles and Brandy Clark live is phenomenal.
Please react to her song I'm Gonna Love You Through It. Such a great song and the video is beautiful with a lot of celebrity cancer survivors. Great reaction!! 😊
Being a DV survivor, this is one of my favorite songs. Thank God I stopped to consider what would become of my infant before I pulled the trigger while he was pased out. I toughed it out and planned carefully until we could get away safely with the help of caring friends.
Martina is not afraid to take on a cause. I love her. My favorite song of hers is Anyway. However if u want to hear fire vocals check out her song Where Would You Be. A live version.
I know a female prosecuting attorney. She once told me as motivation when she has child or spouse abuse criminal cases to prep….THIS is her motivation through the violence she has to address for court to put these vicious fools away. She made sure court was INDEPENDENCE DAY.
I saw an analysis video of her performance of “where would you be” live at the CMT flame worthy awards show, where they isolated her vocal & put it on a graph, and the entire song, even the super high belts were technically perfect. Incredible voice. Once in a lifetime kind of voice.
I work in the medical field, if people only knew is all I’m saying. Great song. I’ve heard it many times and it still choked me up. Resurrection Day is Independence Day for all that choose.
If you want to see and hear Martina turn her full vocals loose, you should react to her in a live performance doing "Where Would You Be" at the CMA Awards - her live voice will amaze you!
When Martina was a little girl she used to to say “ I’m Little but I’m Loud “ . Another great song g by Martina is “ A Broken Wing “ Another is “ Where Would You Be”
Martina used her platform to raise into light those issues that like the darkness. Love her music. Her voice is crazy. Love vocalists that can belt up there. "This one's for the Girls" upbeat, more joyous. Her vocals on Broken Wing are almost untouchable!
I've been listening to Martina over 25 years. All of her songs are amazing, not one bad song. Check out her Christmas albums, anyone and I'm sure you will love it.
Martina is amazing. Power vocals, and she's one of the sweetest people, ever. Check out her CMT Crossroads show. They paired her with the legendary Pat Benatar! They dueted on each other's songs. When they did "Heartbreaker" together, it drove me to my knees.
Yay! This was one of my suggestions! A lot of Martina's songs touch on subjects that most people won't touch on. But it's so good! Please please react to "Broken wing" by Martina. That's my favorite for so many reasons.
On the flip side check out "Gods Will". Love your reactions! If I wasn't on a fixed income, 🤠I would buy you a coffee! Love your channel and reactions!
So glad you are enjoying the channel and I completely understand! ❤️ Never put yourself in a financial bind!! I just appreciate your support and you hanging out each day! Have a blessed one! 😁
Martina is amazing.out walks this petite little woman and when her mouth opens out comes this huge voice.she sings like an angel,I tell ya.one of my favorite female country vocalists.next you should check out " where would you be" live
I grew up with this song and never knew that line was "roll the stone away, let the guilty pay". I thought it was 'all that's stolen away, let the guilty pay'. now I gotta go look it up and find out what that means.
As a surviving child of this, I thank God every day that my mom was able to get out with all five of us kids. Every time I hear this, it brings tears to my eyes. The damage this does to the survivors is not easily overcame. Fortunately, we made it. So proud of my mom, she stood strong and raised us to believe we always have a choice. Thank you Steven.
I've said it many times: Everyone has their breaking point. We don't get any back story on extended family who might have been able to help (except the fact that she went into foster care probably meant they weren't around) so the mother had no one who WOULD help. Everyone knew what was happening but turned a blind eye and a deaf ear. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do and thankfully the mother had enough consciousness to wait until her daughter was out of danger.
Martina McBrides favorite singer growing up was Pat Benetar and you can hear that influence. Martina & Pat did CMT Crossover episode together and it's awesome where they trade out parts on this song.
I have a special attachment to this song for many reasons. I grew up in an abusive home. My ex stepfather was very abusive. Then I unfortunately continued the cycle in the sense that my (now) ex was abusive to me for over 17 years until he tried to end my life. She is an amazing singer, and she sings about hard, but necessary topics.
Such a beautiful song. My only complaint is that it's so short. Such a classic. Truly enjoyed your reaction. Martina actually named Ann Wilson of Heart as her biggest vocal influence.🧡
Please listen to her song "How Far" and "Broken Wing" I dont think she has written any of her songs but shes not afraid to speak out on the tough situations in this world!!! In my opinion shes the best female singer around!!!!
Oh Steven, they got you with another powerful Martina song. I love her voice and that she's not afraid to stand for a message. If you'd like more Martina, I'd recommend A Broken Wing.
This song came out when things like abuse weren't really shown or talked about. Martina put a big spotlight on the problem with her songs. I remember it causing a pretty big controversy at the time, and them only allowing the video to air during a certain block of time.
I love her work, but I think my favorite of hers is, “I’m Gonna Love You Through It.” Check out the original video because it is more than just a song.
I know this much, I don’t look past abuse. I lived through it. If a man touches a woman outside of love, if I had my way, it’d be the last thing he ever did. I’ve written several songs about this topic. Most people just call them poems because I can’t play music. I love music, I can sing pretty decent, I hear the tune I want in my when writing, I just can’t play it.
People should check out the original by Gretchen Peters. There are vids of her doing it solo at the piano. Totally different musical vibe but it will knock you on your rear.
"Wild Angels" (1995) & "This One's for the Girls" (2003) are my other favorite songs from Martina McBride. I hope you will put them on your list...She does have many, many great songs:)
I love Martina, my favorite song of hers is "My baby loves me" but what's really impressive is some of the videos. This song, "Independence day" is the best video I have ever seen and "Concrete angel" is also very good. Another deep but more spiritual song with a great video is "God's Will".
Haha 🤣 I’m sure they are! My wife has always loved country music but I have always kind of steered clear of it! Now that I’m digging into it, I love it! ❤️
You haven’t heard anything yet… check out “anyway” (live) “whatever you say” “broken wing” her voice will melt your face & blow your mind. Oh, almost forgot- “where would you be” live at flame worthy awards- it will melt your soul!
Let's Gooo! Now you really need to check out Broken Wings from her. I think you would enjoy Dwight Yokam Honky-tonk man. Great reaction and Peace out Steven ☮️ ✌️ 🙏
Great Reaciton...... Martina McBride songs: "Independence Day," "Concrete Angel," "God Fearing Women get the Blues," "God's Will," "A Broken Wing," "My Baby Loves Me," Where would you Be." "Wild Angels," "I Love You".........

DV survivor here, and this song makes me cry to this day. Not everyone gets out like I did.
Glad you were able to get out. (((Hugs)))

Thankful you got out
Gretchen Peters wrote the song. Martina sang it beautifully.
Her voice is angelic! Great reaction.

@@setonhillstudios I made the piss-poor choice in a husband. I'm just happy I got out alive and not in jail for offing him after a beating.
Listen to her sing ...Broken Wing..
Quite a few others have suggested that one! Definitely have to check it out!
This one got me….in a family with an alcoholic abusive dad,I can relate. It got a lot of attention in both ways.
So so sorry! My prayers are with you! ❤️🙏🏻
broken wing is a must. her voice is so powerful in it.
"Roll the stone away...." That's how I've always interpreted it.
"Independence Day" is a song by written by American singer-songwriter Gretchen Peters and recorded by American singer Martina McBride
Martina said she didn't set out to make songs about tough topics. Sometimes you don't choose, you are chosen.
A broken wing is a great song too
Martina is not afraid to take on a cause. I love her. My favorite song of hers is Anyway. However if u want to hear fire vocals check out her song Where Would You Be. A live version.

Great song for sure!
Check out This One’s For The Girls. Much more uplifting and her voice shines through as well
Try "Broken Wing" by Martina next.
this song always gets me. Powerful stuff right here
I think her song Broken Wing shows her vocal range the best.
I love how she puts the truth out in this song ❤

@@ntracefan she sounds like me when I was little. I was short and had a tiny frame but my mom said I had the biggest mouth in Alabama.
You should listen to Alyssa Lies by Jason Michael Carol and The Little Girl by John Michael Montgomery. They will both tug at your heart strings.

Martina McBride is a country music powerhouse
I love her singing and always have. Plus, she's beautiful ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks for reacting to this; I haven't heard it in years. Her vocals are outstanding, and I put her in the same league as Reba, Dolly, and Loretta.
This song reminds of a television movie starring Farrah Fawcett called the Burning Bed.

Also she did a live version of this on CMT crossover with Pat Benatar that's really worth a look.
Now you need to check out Broken Wings. It was her vocal masterpiece.
You may wish to check out Goodbye Earl from The Chicks. It's still country, but is a more lighthearted (if possible) take on the same subject.
Church Bells by Carrie Underwood. Not as light, but good song on topic.
