I can be scrolling mindlessly the way you do and if I spot her picture I stop every time. And it makes me cry every time too. Not just the audience being so cruel but the panelists. They weren’t content with making nasty looks when she first came on. Then the one guy said oh we all laughed at you when you first came out and you can see the hurt in her face. What kind of moron does that?
Much like Susan, Simon is often judged by those with no clue. He is paid to be the critical, sarcastic, bad guy and is an excellent actor in that role. Occasionally his heart slips past his mouth and we see the real man. That is when we understand and fall in love with him, just as the world fell in love with Susan.
Susan got to sing with Elaine Paige too. Check out 'I know him so well'. I just love this audition, it's so inspiring. Susan became a big star and did concerts worldwide.
$40 million later, she still lives in her council home (Scotland). Simon helped her get a make over and a proper diagnosis. She had taken care of her parents until they passed away. She promised her mother she would try out for BGT. Now she’s a beloved superstar.
Not a huge fan of Simon but he did right by Susan. When she had her first meltdown he took her under his wing. He made sure she had a proper diagnosis and care team, as well as support system, and scaled back her appearances. She is living her best life now. She records and sings publicly when she wants and putters around in her garden when she wants.
Actually, Susan Boyle is on the spectrum. And another fact, apparently what wasn’t shown on the broadcast was that the audience’s reaction to her in the beginning was actually worse than the viewers at home got to see. And despite all of that, she truly showed everyone. Unfortunately, she didn’t win that season, but as previously mentioned by someone else in the comments she has had an amazing career since and is still going on strong
I'm not sure everyone reading your comment will understand what 'on the spectrum' means, unless they have had experience of autism or know people who have experience of it. I've been told that everyone is on the spectrum somewhere, by a close friend who researched it at length, although I don't know how true that is. Her version of the Rolling Stones' song "Wild Horses" is so otherworldly that it makes me cry every time. What a gift she has! Thank you for reacting to this performance.
The first time I heard this it brought tears to my eyes. Her cover of Wild Horses is even more beautiful! A rare talent and lovely lady. Great pick !!!! She went on to a great career in music.

Its so beautiful you never forget this audition. She certainly did ROCK the audience. See how their JAWS dropped! Never JUDGE!!! It is so uplifting every time you listen to it. She is very loved by the world she changed a lot of lives too. Love your reaction!!!!
Hey buddy, you wanna cry ??? Susan always wanted to be a singer, but she had to take care of her ailing mother, so she sacrificed her own ambitions to take on that heavy burden. Her mom always urged her to audition for BGT, but she never did ... not until AFTER her mother passed on. What a redemption and positive payback for doing the right thing !!! So inspirational !!! Update: No, she didn't win, but she was a 2nd runner up, as I recall, but she shot up to the top of the charts in the UK after this.
love seeing people seeing this for the first time. susan led a tough life. she was tormented from childhood by her peers. at school they laughed at her and even threw rocks at her because she was a little different because of her autism. but she was given the gift of song. she took care of her parents till they passed away. she got 2nd place in the talent show. many people were angry she didn't win. but she got a huge rec ording contract and has performed concerts all over the world. she's worth about 50 million dollars. whose laughing now???? now you have to do the video of her singing with the Broadway musical idol she mentioned Elaine Paige. Elaine saw this and was gracious enough to come sing with her . also her hit song wild horses is amazing. take care
I love your reaction. Susan has done very well. She ended up singing with Elaine Paige who is less popular than Susan now. BTW, Susanhas Asperger. Check out her "Wild Horses"
i LOVE surprise talent videos!!! they are so inspiring and I think they can teach people (esp in today society) a lesson about perseverance, hard work, determination, talent vs entitlement and in Susan case and others like her to not judge a book by it's cover
This is one of those shining TV moments that will never, never get old... Susan finished runner-up on BGT, and, as runners-up on those shows sometimes do, did very well indeed afterward, launching a successful recording and performing career (with help from Simon Cowell of BGT). There are numerous other videos featuring Susan, including superb live covers of the Rolling Stones' Wild Horses and ABBA's The Winner Takes It All and two very different versions of a classic duet showtune, I Know Him So Well, one sung with Elaine Paige (the theatre singer Susan mentions during this audition) and one with comedian Peter Kay that beautifully parodies the video for the original song...
A lot of years have passed since Susan did that audition, and every time I hear it again, I still get chills. Every single time! Since then, they have had other amazing surprises, but none measure up to Susan Boyle.
You should watch the auditions for Drew Lynch and Richard Goodall from AGT, Jack Vidgen from Australia Got Talent and Charlotte and Jonathan from Britan Got Talent
She had an episode after winning, she was so overwhelmf her manager took her to be seen. She was diagnosed on the spectrum. She said she was relieved. The years she was called, Simple Susan, she then understood. Thank you for caring about our kids, they have been left behind. 🙏💙🙏💙
Hi Steven. This performance still brings me to tears. I have been bullied my entire life but Susan never let it quash her dreams of being a singer. She truely is an inspiration. Lovely reaction, Steven. ❤️🇦🇺
She truly is! Sorry that the world has been unkind to you. You seem like a very genuine and beautiful soul! Don’t let their negativity dim your light because those people are miserable themselves! Have a blessed day! ❤️
Here are a few of Susan Boyle's accomplishments. Record sales Boyle has sold more than 25 million albums worldwide, including eight studio albums. Her debut album, I Dreamed a Dream, was the fastest-selling debut album in UK history. Awards Boyle has won a Gold Disc Award, a World Music Award, and a Golden Chinese Music Award. She has also been nominated for two Grammy Awards and a People's Choice Award. Guinness World Records Boyle holds three Guinness World Records, including one for being the oldest artist to have a number one debut. Media appearances Boyle has performed on Britain's Got Talent, China's Got Talent, and other major TV shows. She has also sung for the Queen and the Pope. Honorary Doctorate In 2015, Boyle received an Honorary Doctorate from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Time Magazine poll In 2010 and 2011, Boyle was named one of the most influential people in the world by Time Magazine. Acting Boyle has appeared in the films Zoolander 2 (2016), The Christmas Candle (2013), and Million Dollar Arm (2014).
Thank you for your reaction. I have seen reactions where the TH-camr laughed at her and then apologized. To me that means nothing. It's the ones who don't laugh I respect. The others are the same people who bullied other kids in school.
They all judged that book by its cover. They had no idea whether she could sing or not. I love Susan for her guts just to get up there in front of all those people. When they started laughing at her, she didn't let it get to her. I was so happy she won and went on to sell millions of records.
She didn’t win and in fact the judges already knew she was fantastic and played it up for the cameras (they actually saw the rehearsals, not many people realise this!) but nonetheless she was judged by the studio audience
This remains, in my opinion, one of the biggest moments in talent show history. She was an absolute overnight sensation and took the world by storm. It was incredible. If I am not mistaken, it is also a catalyst for the creation of "The Voice".
I don't think everyone in the room judged the book by the cover. They simply didn't even look at the book at all. Every single person there was like: Oh no, another time waster. I saw this on the tv and told my partner she was going to win even before she started singing. Until today I've never seen so many people change their minds about one individual so fast. It just shows the biggest surprises come in the small packages. I'm glad she turned her life around and still be humble as she ever was.
Thank you for sharing with us your feelings, your encouragement. Being a disabled person, I know what it is to be looked at as someone who cannot have a normal life, considering my dependence but also my possibilities. Finished two college degrees, have a job, travelled, dated. I did everything possible to keep my mom at home during her final years. Maybe I could have done more, but..., anyway, thank you. God bless you. Greetings from Porto, Portugal.
This is definitely worth going down the rabbit hole. Susan went on to Round 2, and at that performance Simon apologized to Susan. It's worth watching all of the videos about that because this really effected Simon and he got her a record deal and Susan went on to record many albums. She is a beautiful singer, performer, and most of all a beautiful person! Never judge a book by it's cover!!
She finished runner-up...and, as runners-up on those shows seem to do rather often, did very well afterward, handily eclipsing the dance troupe who finished first...

I've watched this performance a few times over the years and it's so inspiring each time. It makes me feel so good for her to realize that her dream of being a great singer is about to come true.❤
She actually got the chance to sing with Ellaine Paige. The judges had been subjected to numerous bad singers in the day before Susan Boyle's audition. When she came out they thought they would be subject to another bad performance. After BGT, Susan was diagnosed with autism.
Susan was bullied as a child for a learning disability. She spent most of her young life singing with her father in the house. She bought the government house she grew up in and lives there today. Multi platinum world touring artist. She is a hero in Scotland.
I've said this before, but may I also recommend the Charlotte and Jonathan introductory video from BGT? The same vibe, the same message: don't judge a book by its cover. I'll say no more because of spoilers, but I know you'll appreciate it!
Remember watching this as it aired!!! Cried like a baby! A great song to compliment this one is "Til You Can't" by Cody Johnson! It's about life and chasing dreams. It is a very powerful and emotional song! Hope you react to it!🤠🤠
she came in second in the finale of that season. She went on to make a number of albums. Her first album sold over 3 million copies in the US that year (just short of a Taylor Swift album the same year). It is one of the best selling albums of the 21st century, and was the number one album for international sales in 2009. She's done a couple of concert tours, and had her own TV special where she did a duet with her hero Elaine Paige
The first time I saw this clip, I was blubbering by the end. You said it, she is very brave to go out there. She may be timid but she believed in her talent so much that it drove her to go ignore the challenges and just go out there. It just gets me every time.
I still feel goosebumpls and cry like a river ebry time I watch this video since 2009. She has a beautiful voice and she is so humble. She had a dream, she has a lot of faith and her dream came true.
They were so nasty at her. But she showed them! Loved your reaction! Her Wild Horses is next level! She got to sing with Elaine Paige a few months after this..Everytime I see her I cry and get chills
As of 2021, Boyle has sold 25 million records Her debut album, I Dreamed a Dream (2009), is one of the best-selling albums of the 21st century, having sold over 10 million copies worldwide, and it was the best-selling album internationally in 2009. In 2011, Boyle made UK music history by becoming the first female artist to achieve three successive albums debut at No.1 in less than two years. And received nominations for two Grammy Awards.
Susan Boyle came in second but became super famous selling out crowds worldwide. She also performed on other got talent shows both as a guest or contestant.
*Susan Boyle is the person that came on a talent show that broke the mold of what a star should be like....not a fabricated Hollywood fake idol. And that inspired many to go on Idol, The Voice, AGT, BGT, etc, where they look different*
She went on to be a recording star and was nominated for two Grammys in 2010 and 2011 for Album od the Year. Her net worth today is 30-40 million dollars. She was extremely popular and is considered a champion for underdogs and bullied victims. She truly defines that old saying, "Never judge a book by its cover". Yes, indeed.
Please react Susan Boyle/Elaine Paige, "I know him so well", live duet, 6 months after this audition. It's spectacular, she acomplished her dream songing with her idol. Please check it out, it' so special. Big kiss from Portugal. Ana
All those people laughing and pulling faces before she even sings, really p*sses me off. How many of them would've climbed upon to that stage to even try? At least Susan got the last laugh ❤
It was through this viral video by Susan Boyler that I found out about Britanic/America Got Talent here in Brazil. And I subscribed to your channel after you reacted to the Brazilian Gabriel Henrique who participated in America Got Talent 2023 (and won the Golden Buzzer)!
I remember someone at work, on a Labor and Delivery unit in Salt Lake City, and we were all crying. We were all amazed and very sad that she didn't win. A highlight of our work week.
Saw Susan Boyle in Concert in Louisville, KY. Sold out venue. Awesome. She never missed a note all night. I have many of her albums. The way they were laughing and mocking her before she sang, Susan said later: "I figured I could run off the stage crying or carry on with the audition". Her fans are all glad she stayed and showed them what she was made of. By the way, Susan is on the Autism Spectrum. To us fans , "Susan is every mother's daughter". We love her so much. The genre is called Operatic Pop.
Gotta love SuBo. The courage it took and the success she achieved is incredible. If I may make a suggestion, I really think you would enjoy Martika singing Toy Soldiers - an 80's masterpiece ✌
I worked with children on the spectrum for about 15 years. Primarily communication specialist was my job. Enjoyed everything about it. It was an honor to help these kiddos be able to communicate
A big lesson to never judge someone by age, looks or size. We are all unique and how boring would it be if we all were the same. Simon actually is a decent guy even though he tries to hide it! Susan has a fantastic voice and good on her for having the courage ❤
FYI - She did lots of amazing covers on her albums. Don’t dream it’s over - Crowded House Enjoy the silence - Depeche Mode You’ll see - Madonna Mad world - Tears for fears Hallelujah - Leonard Cohen Wild Horses - Rolling Stones Up to the mountain - Patty Griffon

The first time I saw this clip, I was blubbering by the end. You said it, she is very brave to go out there. She may be timid but she believed in her talent so much that it drove her to go ignore the challenges and just go out there. It just gets me every time.
We all should get a lesson from this. Give everyone a chance. Let them at least try.
What?! That’s incredible!! I love that! ❤️
The last line always gets me you can feel the emotion of it my life killed the dream I dream she really meant that
The next day she was a star.
Paul Potts us another person from BGT that people laughed at until he blew them back into their seats. It would be another good video reaction.
Susan Boyle came in second but became super famous selling out crowds worldwide. She also performed on other got talent shows both as a guest or contestant.
She sang “Wild Horses “ to get the Golden Buzzer on an American show. Her version is the best I’ve ever heard. Nice.
To think that before this show she'd basically just sung at her local church! Wow! 💕 😊
I have her first album, it's great!
*Susan Boyle is the person that came on a talent show that broke the mold of what a star should be like....not a fabricated Hollywood fake idol. And that inspired many to go on Idol, The Voice, AGT, BGT, etc, where they look different*
She is definitely incredible and deserves all the fame and fortune that came her way! ❤️
@@setonhillstudios She lost yet thru Simon, got a record deal and became super successful in the UK & US
I have an autistic grandson I'm with you all the way
💙
I have a son who has mild Aspergers. I agree.
You should also check out Charlotte & Jonathan from this show....ANOTHER VERY INSPIRING VIDEO!!
Her first album sold over 8 million copies. Massive success.
This song reminds me of a Disney movie musical 🎶 ❤❤
Please react Susan Boyle/Elaine Paige, "I know him so well", live duet, 6 months after this audition. It's spectacular, she acomplished her dream songing with her idol. Please check it out, it' so special. Big kiss from Portugal. Ana
All those people laughing and pulling faces before she even sings, really p*sses me off. How many of them would've climbed upon to that stage to even try? At least Susan got the last laugh ❤
Thank you for a wonderfully accepting reaction, from the start too. Well done!
I cry every time I watch this.
You must try Paul Potts or Johnatan and Charlotte
Elaine Page is a UK stage singer. They did a duet together. Susan is awesome.
Page, however, is the real deal.
@@Spo-Dee-O-Dee Yes!
You spoke great truths 👍🏻This performance blew me away and yes way to go Susan
Loved your reaction. I remember watching this live. She went on to a phenomenal career. I believe she is retired now.
It was through this viral video by Susan Boyler that I found out about Britanic/America Got Talent here in Brazil.
And I subscribed to your channel after you reacted to the Brazilian
Gabriel Henrique who participated in America Got Talent 2023
(and won the Golden Buzzer)!
I remember someone at work, on a Labor and Delivery unit in Salt Lake City, and we were all crying. We were all amazed and very sad that she didn't win. A highlight of our work week.
Watch her rendition of "Wild Horses" on America's Got Talent. It makes me cry.
She definitely showed out!! Love her spirit and she is incredible! ❤️
I cry every time i watch that video
Gotta love SuBo. The courage it took and the success she achieved is incredible.
If I may make a suggestion, I really think you would enjoy Martika singing Toy Soldiers - an 80's masterpiece ✌
Great choice.!! Never judge someone by looks 🙂
This was the best example of "don't judge a book by its cover". And she did get to sing a duet with Elaine Paige.
Also check out Paul Potts's audition for Britain's Got Talent. Similar story.
When she starts signings----omg!
I know right!! 🔥🔥
I worked with children on the spectrum for about 15 years. Primarily communication specialist was my job. Enjoyed everything about it. It was an honor to help these kiddos be able to communicate
Absolutely! 💙
Another great singer from uk is Sydne Christmas. take care and god bless .
I've seen so many reactions to this, and I still cry a bit every single time.
Me too, the courage it took for her to do, unbelievable! Such an amazing talent.
A big lesson to never judge someone by age, looks or size. We are all unique and how boring would it be if we all were the same. Simon actually is a decent guy even though he tries to hide it! Susan has a fantastic voice and good on her for having the courage ❤
Absolutely! 💯
Simon knows a story that can sell and gets it in front of a TV audience that will lap it up.
FYI - She did lots of amazing covers on her albums.
Don’t dream it’s over - Crowded House
Enjoy the silence - Depeche Mode
You’ll see - Madonna
Mad world - Tears for fears
Hallelujah - Leonard Cohen
Wild Horses - Rolling Stones
Up to the mountain - Patty Griffon
I love watching the reactions of TH-camrs. Never fails to bring me to tears.
Thanks for stopping by the channel! 😁
