      Hey, you understand now!

    • @Fiascopia
      @Fiascopia 2 ปีที่แล้ว +57

      @Ricky Smith He means that normally when you see this sort of play it's because they are going after the checkmate. However, in this case the checkmate never came and the super active queen mopped up all the minor pieces to equalise the position. However, along the way, with all the sacrafices and movement, Stockfish had eaten a lot of pawns. That means that the end game was totally winning for white. Rather than getting checkmate from the sacrafices, it was a traditional end-game win.

    The whole point of sacs is to gain something in return. Every sacked piece, and all the pieces eventually given back, slowly brought the black king out into the open. Most good human players understand this concept but could never play accurately enough for it to result in a win.

      RC3 is a good option but QA8 is not possible as Black Queen was controlling that diagonal.

    • @WobblyWhale
      @WobblyWhale 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Rc3 takes much longer to win because it is queen vs rook and knight. It's still completely winning because of all the pawns, of course.

    A strong attack on the king is very often more powerful than just a material advantage. The goal of the game is to checkmate the king, not to have the most pieces.
