Rocky V is very underrated... it has some of the best lines throughout the whole series. "You knocked him out, why dont you try knocking me out" "Tommy Gunn only fights in the ring" "My rings outside" FUCKING CLASSIC
It's not underrated. It's just to Rocky fans it's one of the most depressing movies of the series. He goes broke and ends up where he started. He neglected family for a ungrateful piece of shit. That's why fans don't like it that much.
You know it was the same for me... that was 18 years ago and I was younger of course... my oldest daughter’s mom left me for another man at the time, she took the baby and used the court system to her advantage. One day I was binging on Rocky movies and I fell asleep on the 5 part and woke up to this song... i went back to court and fought to get my daughter back in my life... well I’m going through it again now... with another woman but at least she doesn’t keep the baby and I apart... I dunno this song played again for some reason and I ready your comment... I’m glad I’m not the only one....
This is my favourite Elton John song by a mile. We can all relate to it. Written for Rocky, but it applies to us all. There is a Rocky within each of us.
"That's the measure of a man", I am 42 year's old, Now I have come full circle, "I will start a new life" my wife is 9 months pregnant, thank you Rocky you are inspiration for lifetime💗💗🌹💘
I remember hearing this song at the end of Rocky 5 when I was struggling hard with my past addiction. Now listening to it after I've gotten my life back and started a family it brings serious tears to my eyes. This song hits me so deep now.
What makes V a decent film is that it gets back to the heart of the story, which is developing characters. I and II were great because you got to know the hearts of both Rocky and Apollo. V gets back to that; his sense of pride and manhood, his need for support from his wife. It was lame saying he couldn't do an endorsement due to old charges, but it helped confirm that he was truly at bottom.
Yes honesly there no rocky movie that i dont like. and i also like the creed series the creed 2 is comming. And tommy morrisson in this film was good i think even if he had a sad end of life
I'm a Rocky fan since a baby. Thanks for all the years of inspiration. To all the men fighting adversity. Never give up. I was on my knees and god shined some light on me . Theres always light at the end of a tunnel.
I was into rattles and sucking my fingers as a baby. Curious you were into Rocky. I'm a big fan of Rocky, but have to admit, I was not a fan when I couldn't walk or think or understand movies.
These battered hands are all you own This broken heart has turned to stone Go hang your glory on the wall There comes a time when castles fall And all that's left is shifting in the sand You're out of time, you're out of place Look at your face That's the measure of a man This coat that fits you like a glove These dirty streets you learned to love So welcome back my long lost friend You've been to hell and back again God alone knows how you crossed that span Back on the beat, back to the start Trust in your heart That's the measure of a man It's the fire in the eyes, the lines on the hand It's the things you understand Permanent ties from which you once ran That's the measure of a man You've come full circle, now you're home Without the gold, without the chrome And this is where you've always been You had to lose so you could win And rise above your troubles while you can Now you can love, now you can lose Now you can choose That's the measure of a man It's the fire in the eyes, the lines on the hand It's the things you understand Permanent ties from which you once ran That's the measure of a man You've come full circle, now you're home Without the gold, without the chrome And this is where you've always been You had to lose so you could win And rise above your troubles while you can Now you can love, now you can lose Now you can choose That's the measure of a man
I think a lot of people watch Rocky for the fights tbh, I'm 20 now and my Dad made me watch them when I was very young, I never watched for the fights though, the story captivated me, the story that Stallone allows us to see in these films helped me grow, and become a damn good man, with self love and respect for other people, and I think a lot of people actually overlook the messages in these films

Thank You!
The lyrics are really strong in this song. It's fantastic. They really hit home for a lot of us I'm sure. Powerful stuff. It's a shame it isn't more popular.
I actually loved rocky 5 because out of the whole franchise this film had the MOST heart! I cried when I saw Mickey again. “Get up you son of a bitch coz Mickey loves ya” beautiful scene.
@@rexrathtar3893 it definitely had the most idc. The first 1 was brilliant but Rocky going bankrupt, having to retire because of brain damage, moving back to the beat down neighbourhood he tried so hard to escape, reminiscing Mickey? So much heartache in 1 film but you could feel the love he still had for boxing and the last fight he had with Tommy was VERY humbling and satisfying to watch
Actually alot of fans don't like rocky 5. He went broke and had a ungrateful protege on his side. Rocky ended up neglecting his family to build up a complete stranger that would repay him back badly.
@@brianticas2068 going broke wasn’t his fault, Paulie was the one who ruined everything. When I first heard this song, I felt instantly connected to it. This song reminds me how much of an uphill struggle my life has been between being bullied and my terrible handwriting, but despite these, I have achieved great things. I want to show these bullies that they can no longer torment me, but also show that the damage they have done to me is irreversible and they cannot fix it, no matter how sorry they are, as they can NEVER by TRULY sorry.

This song mirror exactly the life and way of men. Our life has ups and downs and somtimes we struggle in very hard times but atleast we never give up and come back. Never give up and never quit. 🙏
"You've come full circle, now your home. Without the gold, without the chrome. And this is where you've always been, you've had to lose so you can win!" This is probably the greatest part of the lyrics. The measure of a man is like, we've learned, fought or struggled to get away from the shit that we live in, to change our lives to achieve great things, done a full circle, without the gold and chrome, like it never really mattered, and what did matter is who you really are and your original roots.. be at home... done a full circle, just to arrive back who you've always been!! Great song!!
rocky, dawm, this series of movie are unforgetable.that means so much, its not only boxing its determination.its not only boxing its love.its not only boxing its a generation powerfull anthem.I will never say thanks you enough to stallone for this amazing caracter.Rocky rocky rocky.
rocky series had accompanied many of us in the same generation, watching this while growing up from boys to adult given us so many memories while listening to this song, thank you so much rocky for writing these great stories.
It's the best apart from: Gonna Fly Now Eye of the Tiger Burning Heart No Easy Way Out Hearts on Fire Other than that, yeah, the best. Unless you include instrumentals as well and then it goes even lower down the list.
it was the most realistic since the first two, you see this underdog become a hero and now he hits rockbottom, bankrupt and has brain damage which happens in boxing, alot people hated it at the time cause it was a bad closure to the series but now that Rocky Balboa and Creed have been released its more enjoyable cause it sets up those films nicely.
Freakzilla 8250 agreed compared to the others it was pretty much shit and on its own it's still not a good movie. The street fight wasn't that realistic and the movie overall was just depressing while all the other rocky movies and creed were uplifting and inspiring.
Freakzilla 8250 i think if you include Rocky Balboa and Creed, it had the third worst box office results. Not 100% sure. But I'm not trying to lie if I'm wrong. Been meaning to look up "Rocky franchise box office results"
When I think of my father the tape measure just isn’t long enough, the man taught me what being selfless means & helping other’s before any selfish needs of yourself. My Father brought me to see Rocky in the movie theater 1976 I was 10 years old, my life would never be the same, I found out something about myself that day, it’s not about winning, it’s never giving in or giving up …EVER 💪🏻❤️
I Love the Rocky series so inspirational makes me feel happy the journey you take with Rocky through out the films his perseverance is unmatched. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I'm the biggest Rocky fan, the film inspired me to be an amateur boxer and I've done the steps twice. I love Rocky 5 - to me it's the perfect end to the anthology - come full circle know you're home! It's a good film, I don't care what anyone says. And this song sends shivers down my spine very time...
Most underated song of all time. That should be in the top 50 best song ever made in human history! Aperfect poem made by Elton john that descripe perfectly the life of rocky , one of the bigger than life caracter. the music made and composed by a dude that was making music for waltdisney so you have that magical epic orchestration behind, That very powerfull! You can feel the nostalgia, the love , the action. the courage in those perfect harmony!
The Rocky movies have given myself and millions others that hope , that no matter how impossible something may seem or how far it may be it is possible why not you ?? If you want it bad enough if you’re Hungry enough you will have it … this franchise has given so much hope and inspiration to so,many we all have a little Rocky Balboa in us , good bless Stallone and all the actors who portrayed iconic roles and have stayed in our hearts and memories for 48 years!!!
The song is already great but when it goes with the clips...Rocky's early days, Mick's final moments, rock holding Apollo, training like a madman and coming at Drago with the force of a hurricane. Watching this was nothing short of memories.
This is one of my favorite songs by Elton John. You can only find it on the soundtrack. I loved the street fight at the end of Rocky V. I had to stay after the movie to watch the credits and listen to this great song.
As Adrian said, rocky you beat all of them with your heart, tommy doesn't have your heart. Tommy didn't he was only after the money, rocky had the heart of a lion that's why he allways won.. brings tears to my eyes everytime I hear this song..
This is the most underrated rocky song

These battered hands are all you own
This broken heart has turned to stone
Go hang your glory on the wall
There comes a time when castles fall
And all that's left is shifting in the sand
You're out of time, you're out of place
Look at your face
That's the measure of a man
This coat that fits you like a glove
These dirty streets you learned to love
So welcome back my long lost friend
You've been to hell and back again
God alone knows how you crossed that span
Back on the beat, back to the start
Trust in your heart
That's the measure of a man
It's the fire in the eyes, the lines on the hand
It's the things you understand
Permanent ties from which you once ran
That's the measure of a man
You've come full circle, now you're home
Without the gold, without the chrome
And this is where you've always been
You had to lose so you could win
And rise above your troubles while you can
Now you can love, now you can lose
Now you can choose
That's the measure of a man
It's the fire in the eyes, the lines on the hand
It's the things you understand
Permanent ties from which you once ran
That's the measure of a man
You've come full circle, now you're home
Without the gold, without the chrome
And this is where you've always been
You had to lose so you could win
And rise above your troubles while you can
Now you can love, now you can lose
Now you can choose

ok
"This coat that fit's you like a glove ... These dirty streets you learn to love ... "
*fits
Powerful song ! Once again, thanks Elton !
One of the best songs from all Rocky Films !!!
It's the best apart from:
Gonna Fly Now
Eye of the Tiger
Burning Heart
No Easy Way Out
Hearts on Fire
Other than that, yeah, the best.
Unless you include instrumentals as well and then it goes even lower down the list.
Some people think Rocky 5 wasn't a good movie. These people are wrong.
it's my second favorite.
it's not that it wasn't good, but if you compare it to the others then thats why people say it sucked
it was the most realistic since the first two, you see this underdog become a hero and now he hits rockbottom, bankrupt and has brain damage which happens in boxing, alot people hated it at the time cause it was a bad closure to the series but now that Rocky Balboa and Creed have been released its more enjoyable cause it sets up those films nicely.
Been meaning to look up "Rocky franchise box office results"
probably the best part of the movie
You're right.
One of the few films where I have to sit through the ending credits.
And mickeys speech
One of the best moments of the entire franchise.
This song is the most iconic from the rocky series it's measure of a Man!!!
Not gonna lie but is true along with Eye of The Tiger, Gonna Fly Now and No Easy Way Out.
Gives me goosebumps all the time
I’m not tearing up you are 😭
I Love the Rocky series so inspirational makes me feel happy the journey you take with Rocky through out the films his perseverance is unmatched.
Rocky 5 gets a bad review but I love it
If you watch closely, the only Rocky movie that’s transitioned to the next using a dissolve is the still frame from the first film. Such a classic.
remembering all the scenes from all the sequels giving you the feeling that you were a part of the movie . the memories man
Most underated song of all time.
GRACIAS BSC CAMPEON MUCHAS GRACIAS X UNA GRAN ALEGRIA ESTA NOCHE .
This is actually the best part of the movie...
The Rocky series had the best music ever
This song reminds me of my Dad, he passed away In July 2024. Love you Forever Dad.
“I don’t know if you’re special. Only you’re gonna know that.” - Rocky Balboa
This is a song to look back at all of what you been through in life just priceless...
I wouldn't dog on Rocky 5 for the credits alone. RIP Tommy and Sage.
I agree life is way to short!
Yeah damn shame - RIP Tommy and Sage - You will be remembered
This is one of the inspirational songs. It’s lyrics are strong, it encourages people to keep going! I love Rocky!!
Such a beautiful song and tribute. The story comes full circle, as does life. Rip sage Stallone and Tommy
This song always reminds me of my pops. Great man ❤ miss him
The song is already great but when it goes with the clips...Rocky's early days, Mick's final moments, rock holding Apollo, training like a madman and coming at Drago with the force of a hurricane. Watching this was nothing short of memories.
One of the greatest moments in Cinema history is when Rocky has a flashback at the gym. That talk with Mick was great!
Tommy didn't he was only after the money, rocky had the heart of a lion that's why he allways won.. brings tears to my eyes everytime I hear this song..
..."You had to lose, so you could win"...
Rocky 1-5 are always the most classic i love those
My favorite is part 3
That shit makes me teary-eyed.
Dedric There me 2 me 2 I need 2 hear it at least 3 times a day very good songs
Sage Stallone,Carl Weathers and Tommy Morrison will never forget you
What a beautiful song!
This just made me cry!
Great scenes during the Rocky series. I loved this song.
You had to lose so you can win- beautiful.
