A great tribute to a man who recovered from drug and alcohol abuse only four years before this song was written. He contributes his recovery to Ryan White, who he became friends with before his death from AIDS from a contaminated blood transfusion. He and lyricist Tim Rice won a well-deserved Oscar and Golden Globe and he a Grammy for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance. Well done!

To anybody who's reading this, I pray that whatever is hurting you or whatever you are constantly stressing about gets better. May the dark thoughts, the overthinking, and the doubt exit your mind. May clarity replace confusion. May peace and calmness fill your life.
I know Elton did not write many of his songs. But he's responsible for bringing these songs to life. When musicians like him, Stevie Wonder, Billy Joel, Bob Marley and others are gone, their genius will live on.
He doesn’t write lyrics but he does write the music. Bernie Taupin wrote the vast majority of the lyrics over his career, but in the case of the Lion King it was Tim Rice.
I remember wanting this on video so bad when I was a kid. As soon as it came out on VHS my mom got it for me. She and I watched it together. Happier times then. I miss her so much :(
30 years soon... This movie, this song, this story is the essence of my childhood. I am 35 and will never forget the power that love has for us humans. The film must be preserved forever for the future, the children who are born and their children and their children. The film also clearly shows what a beautiful animal world we have. The film moves me deeply to tears that I just want to cry, and this feeling is very nice to be able to experience, a moment without limits, just losing yourself in the film. Thank you Sir Elton John for this excellent masterpiece of "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" In 1994 I was 7 years old, thank you for this great childhood. Also thanks to Tim Rice and Hans Zimmer for the musical accompaniment throughout the film, every sound is spot on.
same here. I was 7 years old too in 1994 and saw the movie in theatre. I rewatched it a few days ago for the first time after twenty something years - and I broke out in tears heavily. May all of you be blessed. Greetings from Germany
I don't think the romantic type of love is special. And I am started to think that the romantic type of love isn't real. I mean about more than half of romantic couples either break up with each other or divorce each other. I think humans should just ditch concepts like dating, marriage, and pair bonding. I feel like this world would be a much better place without romance than it is with it. In my opinion, romantic love should not be on the highest pedestal. In my opinion, parents and siblings' family love is the strongest. Family knows who you are. Romance is fake for lots of people, put on a false persona and romance on most parts gets ugly real fast. For the reality of romance is no Disney love story. Parents and siblings' family love is one of the strongest types of love there is. If romantic love is actually real, it would be one of the weakest types of love there is.
I remember being a teenager when this came out. My aunt took me and my younger brother to see this at the drive in. Both passed away. I'll always have that memory.
Elton John just sang it and it very almost didn’t appear in the film it was going to be timone and pumba singing the song... we ended up with a mixture of the two in the film because the original version sucked ass as I’m sure we all can imagine 😂
My god the memories. I remember the first time I got up on Saturday and it was on the TV, every time it came on I would hog the TV and not let anyone change it 😂. Those were such simpler times
I don’t care what people think, you’re never too old for Disney music, this was the first ever Disney film I saw and Disney song, still love it every bit as much today
Hearing Elton sing this song reminds me how much I loved The Lion King, and I was in my 30s. Animated films can be as much fun for us as for kids, or maybe Im still a kid!

It’s such a heavy film for a kids movie. Granted I know it’s based on Hamlet, but the execution of storytelling still blows my mind, and I was six when it came out.
Dear reader: This is one of my favourite songs of all times. I can hear it in my dreams. My thoughts. My mind. My body and soul! I *FEEL* this music but I can't *HEAR* it no more because unfortunately, I was born with a crappy condition called _Mineres Disease_ and I lost all my hearing 5 years ago. So, even though I am a deaf man today, before I went deaf, what I did was listen to so much music before my day came when God wanted to take my hearing from me.. Now, I enjoy music through *VIBRATION* and it's _AMAZING_ ! Please, if you are reading this, I beg you to please appreciate you're hearing because you have no idea how important and crucial it is to your life.. -Abalam J. Anderson
"Can You Feel The Love Tonight" There's a calm surrender to the rush of day When the heat of a rolling wind can be turned away An enchanted moment, and it sees me through It's enough for this restless warrior just to be with you And can you feel the love tonight? It is where we are It's enough for this wide-eyed wanderer That we got this far And can you feel the love tonight? How it's laid to rest It's enough to make kings and vagabonds Believe the very best There's a time for everyone if they only learn That the twisting kaleidoscope moves us all in turn There's a rhyme and reason to the wild outdoors When the heart of this star-crossed voyager beats in time with yours And can you feel the love tonight? It is where we are It's enough for this wide-eyed wanderer That we got this far And can you feel the love tonight? Crazy that Elton was in his late 40’s already when he sang this song. Most great vocalist start to lose a little by the time they’re close to 50. Elton sounds like he’s still very much in his prime here.
I'd say that this was the height of his career, actually. Between this song and the remake of Candle in the Wind he sold more records than he ever had before, and he had already sold massive numbers. If not for an 80s funk he was pretty much unstoppable from the 70s until the 2000s, and only then because he stopped performing as much.
It's been years, yet this songs still brings me to tears.. there's nostalgia to something that I believe never actually happened to me, yet whenever I hear this song, it feels like there's so--like memories of peaceful, cold nighttime, and the world was just at its beautiful that it's ever been..
It's like me laying down on my bed and my parents curling me up for a blissful sleep, wondering what tomorrow would bring. I miss those times. They would never come back. 😭 😭 😭
Oh it's over, laid to rest, to a calm surrender, a period in a forever marriage. It's not good for you. And he picks them up. No, it's not that easy and they have bots with rules on getting your own.
This song is the oldest musical memory I'm able to recall. I was four years old and I remember by that time this videoclip being aired over and over during tv commercials. Such an epic tune.
Same here ! Our PE teacher put it on the radio while we where stretching after PE class , this must been year 1999 when I was 7 years old , it was dark and cold outside and was raining I laid at the floor looking at the dark sky and listening to this song , I will remember that moment forever , it touched my soul

My mom would sing and play piano for work. She always did this song. Elton John was one of her favorite musicians. She passed away 3/21/23 of cancer. This is one of the songs that always brings her back 🥲
@zachnasr9911 God needed another piano in his orchestra . Your mothers talent was the first that came to his mind to fill that spot. He sent his angels to show her where to sit. She has a spot on that piano bench right beside her with your name on it and is patiently waiting for the day you both can sing this song together again ❤.

Well done!
Nobody should ever touch this masterpiece. Elton will remain the sole singer to perform and sing this one

Thank you Sir Elton John for this excellent masterpiece of "Can You Feel the Love Tonight"
In 1994 I was 7 years old, thank you for this great childhood.
Greetings from Germany
hitting the big 3 circle of life eh?
😂❤
I remember being a teenager when this came out. My aunt took me and my younger brother to see this at the drive in. Both passed away. I'll always have that memory.
Sorry for your loss. Prayers to you and your fam
What a great song writer, composer, piano player and singer...
The composer is Hans Zimmer☝🏼😊😅
Bernie is the lyricist, Elton does the music.
Apparently Tim Rice wrote the lyrics for this
Elton John just sang it and it very almost didn’t appear in the film it was going to be timone and pumba singing the song... we ended up with a mixture of the two in the film because the original version sucked ass as I’m sure we all can imagine 😂
Elton John composed the music for songs and Tim Rice wrote the lyrics. Hans Zimmer composed the score for the movie.
God has given you a magical voice. Thank you mr John.

"Can You Feel The Love Tonight"
There's a calm surrender to the rush of day
When the heat of a rolling wind can be turned away
An enchanted moment, and it sees me through
It's enough for this restless warrior just to be with you
And can you feel the love tonight?
It is where we are
It's enough for this wide-eyed wanderer
That we got this far
And can you feel the love tonight?
How it's laid to rest
It's enough to make kings and vagabonds
Believe the very best
There's a time for everyone if they only learn
That the twisting kaleidoscope moves us all in turn
There's a rhyme and reason to the wild outdoors
When the heart of this star-crossed voyager beats in time with yours
And can you feel the love tonight?
It is where we are
It's enough for this wide-eyed wanderer
That we got this far
And can you feel the love tonight?

Crazy that Elton was in his late 40’s already when he sang this song. Most great vocalist start to lose a little by the time they’re close to 50. Elton sounds like he’s still very much in his prime here.
He was still an extremely strong singer in his farewell tour. Worth a listen
@@Sethro92 1994 - 1998
And he looks ten years younger.
Everyone does now but back then people seemed to age faster
I'd say that this was the height of his career, actually. Between this song and the remake of Candle in the Wind he sold more records than he ever had before, and he had already sold massive numbers. If not for an 80s funk he was pretty much unstoppable from the 70s until the 2000s, and only then because he stopped performing as much.
He sang *Candle In The Wind* for Princess Diana's funeral in 1997 live in the church's nave and sounded great on that as well.
It's been years, yet this songs still brings me to tears.. there's nostalgia to something that I believe never actually happened to me, yet whenever I hear this song, it feels like there's so--like memories of peaceful, cold nighttime, and the world was just at its beautiful that it's ever been..
You too huh?

It's like me laying down on my bed and my parents curling me up for a blissful sleep, wondering what tomorrow would bring. I miss those times. They would never come back. 😭 😭 😭
Oh it's over, laid to rest, to a calm surrender, a period in a forever marriage. It's not good for you. And he picks them up. No, it's not that easy and they have bots with rules on getting your own.
