1 of 1? I bought a rare 1969 Caprice with a 427 & a 4-speed! More rare than an SS 427.

This is what I loved about cars of this era. I wouldn’t have ordered this car with a four speed manual transmission, but someone who obviously wanted it could get it. Today’s vehicles are a generic snooze.
Super snoozers
todays cars...and trucks, for that matter... make the malaise era look as radical as exner's look forward, lol.

Great comment!
🤨Dude Chuck, That old point type distributor For now Did it even Spin when you cranked it with the cap off stick an h. e. One day in the future all cars will look exactly the same be painted white . They will have a number and car will be the emblem
Awesome video of a rare car. Came from Montana and worked in Bozeman after college. Was drag racing then. One of my buddies and his mom had a bunch of 1 car garages around town in alleys rented out. An elderly lady wasn't able to pay rent and offered to give them the car for 10 years storage (they were plenty lenient with her) and they accepted. Her son died in Vietnam in '68 and his car stayed undriven since then. Just happened to be a '66 Caprice outfitted just like yours excepting air conditioning driven only 2 years. 427 4 speed, we checked the numbers, then found the build sheet. 425 hp. It ran but the car was valuable enough to have it professionally refresh. Black paint only needed buffing, he has it to this day, what a beast! I'll be watching for your progress on this car, good luck!
Amazing. Anything was possible in the 60's. Those hideaway headlights...soooo rare.
This car was a head turner in its day. If you lived in most towns and small cities in the USA or Canada, everyone would know you about your 427 Caprice with a 4 speed. It made you a cool dude. You were what you drove. Comfort, power, style and coolness. (The "coolness" option came standard with the 427 4 speed).
I had so many people come up to me this weekend at an estate sale talking about the car.
Man this thing brings back memories! I was 15 in the early 80's and we had a 69 Impala sitting between the house and barn amd my mother said i could have it if i got it running! Of course she didnt think i had a clue of how to fix a car at 15! Two days later i had her fired up and mamma said wait a minute i didnt think you could fix that, you dont have a license! I smiled got in and drove down the country roads where we lived! I miss those days and that car! A differnt time that seemed like a different world!
Good times!!!
One step at a time! So glad you got it running again. Just finding a car like this is a treasure!!! Glad you are working to save it!
You and me both!
that pic from the NNNova Nationals or a NNNova Mini Nats??? I miss those! miss my 64' the most! ugh! lol!
@@JVINTAGE1970 Hi! Yes, I think that was the 2007 Nova Nationals in Indianapolis. Mine is a '72. I'm sure your '64 was a beauty! :)
I enjoyed this "full length" YT video. Its been awhile. Congratulations on bringing the big block to life.
I’m glad you guys appreciate seeing the entire process 🙏🏾
Very cool car! I had a '68 Caprice 9 passenger wagon (Loaded) w a 396 back in the '70s. Great drive-in movie ride.
That car was totally worth rescuing. So rare. Don’t worry my kids will be probably going to community college as well. If it wasn’t for my wife I’d have more rusty lawn ornaments lol.
I went to community college and I turned out alright 😂
@@DezzysSpeedShop Amen, C's and D's still get degrees no matter what the name on the diploma says, lol.
My neighbor had a black 69 Caprice black leather bench seat 427-4spd with the fancy hubcaps, he was a GM executive. I use to see a lot of cars around Detroit that were test cars and executives cars. That was back in the 70s and I was to young to understand what they were.
No leather in 69.
The small chrome thing on the dash is the temp sensor for the comfortron a/c system. Congrats on getting it running! :)
If the filter is green and white, it's probably an old N.A.P.A or Quaker State. Like I said....it's an old one buddy!!
69 Caprice. What a sleeper. Everybody might have suspected an Impala but a caprice?😊
Exactly 😈
Same car. Marketing terms.
My grand father was a Detective in Rochester MN back in the day he had a 427 corvette motor in a 1968 Caprice . It blew the doors off my 1969 Pontiac judge. Wish I had a similar car today.
Nice car man. I'm basically finished with my 64 Chevy II Nova 400 Series Wagon.
Nice! Have you driven it yet?
I've been to 3 car shows with it this summer. It's fully finished, just dealing with a transmission pan leak.... Annoying!
Cool find man. I love this giant ass 427 4speed. Always looking forward to your next update.
I like Caprice Classic! Especially the old ones from the 60's and 70's. Best cars ever!
One of my favorite chevys with my favorite drive trains. Good stuff
Working on a ‘69 Caprice, 396, TH400, bucket/console, tilt, no air, hideaways….71k miles.
What ever it takes to save this Big Block Impala. Getter done 🇺🇸🏁
Sweet ride. Its good to know its in the hands of someone who appreciates it. VERY GOOD SCORE! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you! I just had a guy say he hopes I don’’t LS swap it and put 30 inch rims on it. What about my channel makes you think I would put 30 inch rims on anything especially this 🤦🏾♂️
I just picked up a one owner 69 with the 396 and 88,000... will be for sale soon. These are really cool cars. Keep up the work!
S
Such a cool car! I love the hide a way headlights on this year
About that frame, you're in the right frame of mind - no pun intended.
This car is savable !
I like your style man.
Johnny Boy
Beautiful Car...love the work you 2 are doing. Thanks for sharing. Chevy💪
Thanks for watching
Good Job! Your buddy crawling into the caprice reminded me of my first car, a 65 Impala no post with the 396 and the turbo hydro matic. It even had AC like your beast.
Keep it up and thanks for posting interesting videos/stories for us that love the old rigs just like you!
super rare caprice!!! i believe that chrome piece under the dash is for the comfrontron A/C sensor... i can almost guarantee you wont find one just like yours..the engine is incredible , but the 4 speed puts in the stratosphere!!!!
I agree man! I keep starting at it in disbelief
1986 Chevrolet Silverado c10 two wheel drive but it's a long way being relatively close close to being finished but it does run and drive under it's on power, I truly enjoy your videos, they give me hope and encouragement! Thank you for sharing!!

My favorite chevys are the old impala and you got 427 4 speed man what a cool ride 😎 I am working on a 70 chevelle but it's got a long way to go to be road ready
I love this kind of stuff. I found your channel from the 1000 cars in the marsh video and that video was a vibe in its own, it gave me chills and the music you put to it made it even more of a vibe. All of those pieces of history sleeping for decades. it was sad to see most of them have to go. Keep on doing what you do brother man 🤠👍
Damn! Love that 427 ... good job, brother
Can't wait to see the next episode
Are you kidding me man!
That is beauty! Yeah it's pretty rough around the edges,
But with enough effort and elbow grease it'll be good as new,
I would love to see it restored back original like when it was built in the factory, or at least as close as a guy could get it.
And please man! Please keep that cool old 8 Track Player, it absolutely belongs in there.
Seeing this car brings me great memories of my older brother that had passed away last Thanksgiving, his name was Larry.
He had a 1970 model year Caprice like yours when I was a kid, it had the 400 ci small block engine in it.
Thank you for your video, and
Good luck with your project, hope to see great progress with it in the future.
Tim from Wisconsin.
That bad boy is sweet!! I love BIG bodies with big blocks and 4 speeds. I daily a 63 Ford Galaxie w/a built 398 (390 +.04) Eldebrock aluminum H,C,I and a lot more. Backed by a top loader 4 speed and bench seat.
You got yourself a new subscriber with this video. Rare car, my man. Rare engine too, restored this car is worth some serious jack.

Congratulations! Wish you the best of luck! Love the old big blocks
Thanks!
That is a beautiful well optioned Caprice ..This was fun to watch looking forward to seeing what becomes of this treasure !!!
I’m glad you liked the process! More videos are coming
@@DezzysSpeedShop I can hardly wait . This was a nice score and I'm happy I found your channel and told all my buddies about the Caprice they will be drooling over your posts just like the rest of us thanks again. 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂👊👊👊👍
I'm glad you're not putting rediculous wheels on the car! I'd be tempted to put SS 427 logos on it, a '"Caprice SS 427!"
One of my fav impala great to hear it come back to life can't wait to see more on it
Awesome video,my buddy and i had a black on black69 back in 1975,that sucker would fly,i think we paid 26 hun for it it was pretty mint ,we put air shocks in it lol..wish i had it now..keep rockin these vids !😎.
Tower hose clamps, thats a term I haven’t heard on a long time.. back in the 80’s-90’s in the group I hung out with, we simply called Impalas/Caprices “big car”. Like “I know where a big car is sitting”. Usually behind some old house. And the term basically meant “engine donor” 😁. Those hideaway headlights and blue bow tie emblem bring back memories. The “rosewood” trim and push button radio are special. It looks like you have found a good one to save. Good luck on your project!
We always called them big cars too and quite a few Chevelles are riding around with their 427s
My dream car. I recall a car set up like that when I was in my early 20s and living at home. I coveted it and today I still would love that car.❤❤❤❤
Love showing all this trouble shooting Dez! Pontiac Dave is the best! Showing this is helping me figure out starting my projects too. Keep showing the progress!
That’s EXACTLY why I film like this 👊🏾 I figured someone out there could use the info. And we’re working on Dave’s own TH-cam channel as we speak! I’ll let you guys know when it’s up and running.
@@DezzysSpeedShop Yes DEZ!! I was going to gently ask but I figured that Dave would hate to do it. Love you completing the circle by not only finding but showing how to get them back up. My own projects are starting to turn into lawn ornaments...
Undisputed King of the car find!
🫡
It's a gem , am seeing it done mechanically / cosmetically..am working on a 1989 Sterling/ Rover..
WOW 🤩 that is a super RARE Chevrolet! AWESOME find! 💥 try to keep it Period Correct if you can! 👍👍👍
Pull the valve covers and make sure nothing is janky there. Bent/broken. Drain the oil and fill with half or the oil you drained and half ATF. Run it a bit off and on for a few days. Then drain it and change filter for sure. This might loosen up any lifter issues and clean some sludge out. You should probably drop the pan also after this and make sure the oil pickup is clean. AWESOME score finding this 1 of 1!!!!!
ATF will wash lubricant off the bearings
You are one lucky dog!! Nice find!!
- subscribed - good luck fixing your Impala up.
My best dream car was1969 Chevy Impala 2 door hard top sport, 327. I installed hide away light covers from wrecked caprice. I hated to sell it but life issues forced me. Frame was rusted in half. Still have its steering wheel.
If I was able to I would buy and restore one.
Damn man! The one that got away 😕
Love it dezzy, what a find💪, rare dog, always loved the big block, big cars.
Can’t wait to hit the streets!
You remind me of a car guy I knew in the air force, his name was Charles delvaile, from Connecticut operated a d.d. 71 dodge Challenger, keep doing what you do enjoy your videos! Maybe They'll get me motivated on my 2 '70 Mercury Cyclone G.T.s, & my '70 Mercury Cougar, & '67Mercury Cougar, + '71 Plymouth Fury, & '72 Mercury Montego G.T.
Get those Cyclones going! Those are cool!
@DezzysSpeedShop ah yes I dearly hope so,my "unicorn/"Eleanor " is a '69 cyclone fastback...
Glad to see you still at it and growing your channel.
What a great find and will it run video. Great stuff as always.
Thanks for watching 🙌🏾
Thanks for rescuing and saving this beast!!!!! Can't wait to see the progression of it.
You and me both!
Glad you got her running man! I would take the valve covers off and see if there is a broke spring. Or readjust the valve on it. It should quieten up. And take them old points out and put a HEI distributor in there.
That's the plan!
No adjustment for hydraulic lifters.
@@dukeallen432 he may have a rocker loose.
Congrats brother, really nice find, I caught myself laughing a cpl times at your cranky buddy there because I have a very similar situation with an older friend of mine who’s been a mechanic his entire life, they don’t mean anything by it it’s just who they are lol, buts it’s really nice having a friend that literally knows everything about these old vehicles. Anyway, excellent video, that motor sounds healthy, after a good tune up and probably a new distributor it’s going to run really nice, being a 4 speed car is gonna make this ride fun to drive, i won’t even buy an automatic , I’ve driven standards my entire life🔥
AWESOME CAPRCE!! RARE 427 4 SPEED..LOTS OF RUST BUT WELL WORTH CHANGING THE FRAME..VERY FEW OF THESE LEFT..I PERSONALLY HAVE NEVER SAW A FACTORY 427 4 SPEED CAPRICE..LOVE IT ..FIX IT!!
Yeah, this is the first one I had ever seen!
What a car, very rare car with every thing this car has and original, its unbelievable!not too many like, good luck with that car!!I love it!
Any time you find a 1 of 1 car of any significance like this..... You should always do what ever it takes to save it. KUDOS for finding it and trying to save it. Regardless how this ends up. The only thing that would make this car cooler is if it was a triple black car from the factory. I hope it gets restored all the way some day!!! GOOD JOB MAN!!!!
Just gotta love when a old car that's been sitting fires up, it's the everything that grabs you, the smell the sound the relief the whole feel , especially knowing you have something that once was and still is great...after all the years ,
Love this car. if I could-after you had your fun with it-I'd bring it back to Spokane. I looked at this for years. Sat in it,tried to get Ron to sell it-lol. I'm stoked to hear this thing run. Hell yeah.
I’ll make the trek back as soon as it’s ready 😎👍🏾
My grandma traded her BB 4 spd Caprice in on a 70' Nova with a SB 4 spd, both bench seat cars. Then she broke her hip and traded the Nova in on a '82 Buick Century with a slushbox behind a 3.8 bent six, she hated that car and so did I. I loved driving with her as a kid and watching her dump the clutch and row a few gears with the tires smoking, she loved it too. I sure hope you're doing a real resto on this gem you found, if it's for sale I'd love a crack at it!
How can you not love a big blocked 4 speed✊️😎
Especially in a big body!
427 4 speed with factory air! That's a big money car!
Going to be a lot of fun bringing this back!
Like I said restore this to stock 100% no air ride no headers no add ons and you might be sitting on a 6 figure car if restored properly! This car has the right options to make the right collector go nuts lol
Just a little bit of TLC you got a badass ride man
Inspiring!
I'm 54 and revisited my passion for old cars. Seeing your videos makes me want to keep going, keep learning and keep searching..
Great find 427, 4 speed stock. OMG. All she needs is a double pumper and a gas station : )
Right on!
Odometers back in the day only had 5.1 digits because the internal tolerances in the engine meant a typical lifetime less than 100,000 miles. Of course there were exceptions for the people who actually maintained their vehicles regularly, but one look at the wear on the brake pedal would tell you if it was actually over 100K miles. Once you get new cap, rotor, wires, and plugs in her, and dial in the timing on the distributor, then it's on to some serious business.
Bull
Man it sounds great . It would be a great car for someone that wants a 69 427 4-speed Caprice to restore . It's such a complete car thats correct all the way down to the fuel filter which is unique to the car . So many Cool options , too bad the frame is rusted but a donor frame and pieces of the original frame with the vin number would make it a legal car to register and enjoy . The DMV is really getting picky about VIN numbers and always cover your ass when restoring an old car especially one thats rare like your Caprice . I'd surely keep in touch with the old man you bought the car from as him saying he knew where a lot of old cars are would be a great friend to have . Man you scored another great Chevy to add to your collection .
Great find and really rare,Have fun working on it It’s gunna be so cool
The odometer only went to 100,000 miles back then because the engines were in need of a rebuild at that point. 100,000 miles back then was considered very high milage.
Not true. I’ve owned many old cars and still do over 100k. Aldo you can repair all the components, alternator starter wiper motor switches and on and on.
@@dukeallen432 That's funny because I was around back then buying used cars all the time. And all car ( Unless maintained very well) were all basket cases at 100,000 - 120,000 max. At that point they most likely had a timing chain and gears replaced along with a valve job. They just did not last like today's engines.
@@stephenflowers8516a few things to consider, on older cars like this a timing chain and valve guide job is about a 8-10hr job with hand tools, electric or pneumatic tools 4-6hrs if no bolts break.
Most newer cars rerequire level 2 technician skills to change a headlight, and the taillights are all on printed circuit boards that cost around $130 for the knockoff brand and sometimes over $500 for the proper part and I'm not talking about expensive luxury cars, I'm talking Maxima, etc...
Read a story and watched a few videos about car companies tracking how many times their buyers had sex in their cars using technology installed from the factory. I've been a auto technician for 20yrs so it didn't surprise me that the technology could do this, I was just shocked that they actually used it this way and snuck the consent into the paperwork.
So very true. Cast iron piston ring, bi-metal bearings, cork gaskets, etc. Getting 100k was big. Even more so if a performance engine of any make. Add in being a big block with internal heavy rotating assembly.
Not true , if you kept good oil in the motor it would run forever
Man, those hideaway headlights set it off. That clutch fan has seen better days, though lol
Way better 😂
Dont leave the key on in between starts, good way to fry some points. Cool car, have fun!
She sounded just like Christine the car movie when she started up ! Lol
😂 Ready to tear the streets up
Cool car! I like the full size cars as well.
Wow. Very very cool. Top shelf cool. The 427 puts it tippy top. The 4 speed does as well. And you have both.
That's one rare car you've got there. 427 - 4 speed W/ Factory 8 track.
And air 😎💨
Great to see you working through the issues live on camera. Nice find! I'm working on a 69 Impala 350/300 AC car and to get it running, I installed an HEI Distributor and ran a 16gauge wire to the ignition switch through the fuse box.
How long had it been off of the road?
You can't even imagine how much I want that car lol
I stand and look at it myself bro. Still can’t believe it.
very cool! My dad had an oldsmobile 455 4 speed delmont full size oldsmobile! love it!!!!
It's Alive! Those 427's are no joke.
You found a unusual car wish I had found it. Enjoy it
Much anticipated video!🔥🔥👍🏼
For me too! Video was so big it took me six days to get enough memory on my phone to upload it. Lol.
I wanted to make sure I filmed the whole process so that you guys can see there’s no Hollywood drama. Unlike some of these channels.
That car sweet love the wheels and dog dish caps
Sweet Ride !! Good old CHEVY 👍👍👍
Good content, unique seeing the 4 speed in a full size
That's a rare optioned muscle car. Cool😊 nice fine. 👍
Thanks 👍
i think its a great find theres millons of us gearheads out there it never gets old pease out
I bought one back in 99, mines an impala custom though..L48 factory Corvette engine ordered by first owners.. full power with comfortron air.. only missing power vacuum locks and hideaways. Was offered hideaway setup. Declined as I don't see changing out radiator support and deal vacuum. Just had engine rebuilt, installed new reproduction interior, suspension rebuilt, and finished in original color repaint.. was offered 70k .. I parked it back in 2001. Pulled out 8 months ago and started restoration.. I could've just reseal the engine as compression was still at 125, which is still good for daily driver attending shows when driven.
Take your time with it! It's a beautiful car!
I will!
You guys work very well together
Love this car. It’s the real deal
Did you see the rescue video:
