    You Sir, have the knowledge but more importantly the patience of Job! Once again I wish I would have known you in my younger days, when I had brought my 76 Jensen GT from England, bought it off the factory floor, with .75 miles on the clock. Lotus 907 engine, and a Getrag 5 speed. Split walnut dash, all Smith gauges, manual choke, clock went to 140….oh forgot twin side draft Stromberg carburetors! Please keep these vids coming!!!! Die hard Fan ….

      @@glennstatham960 Gimme a break! I love watching Derek, but the only thing that this guy does like Derek is get's old car's running again (like a million other people), many who have no idea what TH-cam even is. He doesn't use any of the words or corny phrase's Derek does. Tools & Fuel? Like he should invent his own or something?

    • @Bobbyelijah
      @Bobbyelijah ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree Glenn Statham in part but the actual reason I reckon why Vice Grip Garage subscriptions took off is when he drove his ‘Will it run’ cars 7 to a 1000 k’s home. If Steve did this I think it will peak subscriber interest. Derek puts a lot thought and planning into his ‘will it run will it drive’ content and gets the rewards for his and his family’s efforts. Steve’s a great knowledgeable car guy.

At first I did not like the parking light in the front fenders, but the design grew on me and eventually I came to like all the body lines of the Rivera models. Hope you can get it fully restored! My father bought a 63 Riviera new and it was the most beautiful car I’d ever seen. It turned heads wherever we went. I took my drivers test in this car and used to steal it from my parents at every opportunity and I’d make the scene in it. I wish I had one in my collection now. The 63 had a 445 Wildcat engine and there was no car that could touch this car off the line. It was a real gas hog getting around 15 mpg. But the gas for it at the AMOCO station was 42,9 cents per gallon for the premium stuff. It’s so sad to see that car in such a decrepit condition.

      I agree. It is an amazing car, but needs a lot of work.

    Subscribed. Appreciate your determination and joy. I've loved 1st generation Rivieras since 1968. 65 Grand Sport is my favorite.

    Awesome! Yeah I had the same Riviera ( 64 ) way back in the 70's, mine had the 425 nailhead and a 140 mph speedometer. Mine wasn't stuck and ran like a champ, I raced a 69' Roadrunner w/a 440, down a empty two lane highway, for about an 1/8 mile or so, and blew his doors off. I had another buddy who had a 69 Cougar with a 428 CJ or 429? It's been so long I can't remember which but he thought that thing was it, until I blew his doors off too! Those nailheads had a sound all on their own!

      Totally agree. Great engines and quicker than they get credit for. I won many races with a nailhead.

      @@whattherust - yes sir, that's a fact, they sure are! A lot of the older drag racers like the old nailheads bc they could take a pretty good licking and keep on going, plus with those smaller valves those things were torque monsters, but they could add things to them to bring the HP values up too, I know when I was a kid, my old man would take me and my brother, in the spring and summers to the dragstrips in central KY here, but I remember seeing a lot of guys running nailheads in something. They've even been known to blow away some hemi's , on the dragstrip anyways, as long they had the right combination of add-ons. But, anywho, take care bud and I'll be watching 🤘🍻

    Today I came across a 65 Riviera, doesn't appear to be Grand Sport but comingled with your 64 it
    could become a really cool one.
