Man i have never been more excited to see another man bring his car back to life!!! Thank you for taking us along this journey with you. Ha ....i think your dog was running off with an exhaust piece 😂.
I had one guy say this video was boring lol. I guess some people don’t want to see the process in real time without the Hollywood drama 🤷🏾♂️ There are plenty of Clickbait channels out there to satisfy those interests
When you get the valve covers pulled you will be able to see if you have a flat cam, and if not a flat cam then you will know it will need some valve work. I couldn't tell if you have a knock or if that is the exhaust note hammering away.
This one is more special than an Impala SS as it is very rare to find this with a 427 and a 4 speed as they were special order only . If you could find a dash that has the optional gauge package cluster, that would be icing on the cake for your project.
I'm watching on my TV and writing for the algorithm. I've watched 2 videos and subscribed that would be the fastest I've committed to a tuber! Keep up the work!
You can try going through the wheel well next time you have to change that number one spark plug. That car must have been super nice when it was brand new. I love everything about that car. colors, options ,4-speed.
Another awesome video and thank you for your time and efforts to produce great work on your videos.thumbs up ALWAYS...💯👍😎 keep up the great work on your videos and Peace and forever Blessings...♥️🙏✝️👍💯
I'm new to your channel. I watched your video that had all the corvettes and chevelles! That is a neat old impala. We like the same stuff,I like how you do stuff. Anyway man, thanks for making videos and saving these cars, they are special and should be out on the streets!!
Thanks for the sub! This is actually a Caprice. Super rare to have been optioned like this. Check out the rescue video th-cam.com/video/cKDAQGwPAmM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=xwaSjThRHLSscSYK
Oh no. You put Ford parts on a Chevy. Take those back out and toss them in the trash pile. Keep your GM all GM. Lmfao. Good work. Can't wait to see this car finished. I love the dog dish hubcaps.
I know it’s rough, but that one deserves a new frame and resto….just for the rarity. I’m going to do a 4 speed swap on my ‘69; had to pay $700 just for the ‘69-70 only clutch pedal assembly. The original Muncie shifter was $800 and a decent 4 speed console was $1500. Think I might just sell my TH400 console and go without console and a more efficient Hurst shifter. Found a 45k original 350/ 4 speed ‘69 Impala here in Oklahoma, but the wife blocked me.🙄 I don’t have the garage space you do!😜
Alot of the time you can get to the hard plugs threw the wheel well with along extension you might have to jack the car up and pull the front wheels off to do it.
AT 18:30 I think I heard the housing crack as you were tightening the bolt on the opposite side. I've done that several times in my mechanicing career and mine was caused by the thermostat not being seated properly in the groove or the groove wasn't cleaned well. Hard to tell on the video but it sounds like a deep engine knock. I hope everything works out well because I am looking forward to seeing you drive it around and wish it was me.
ALWAYS draw those down together. Yep…..crack. Live and learn. Definitely a dead cylinder. Valve or cam lobe is the worse case. Can’t remember did you put on a new rotor cap?? Keep the videos coming. 👍🏻
@@jamescook1919 I have forgotten that a thick gasket not tightened down together can crack it too. It's been 30 years since I have actually worked on one. lol
Love the 427 Caprice’s…My cousin spent over $150K restoring his pop’s old numbers matching 1968 SS 427 L-72 fastback (Impala) over 20 years back & today the cars worth? maybe $75K-$100K as far as the big auctions go & it could almost use another paint job after 20+ years. It seems that every year it costs him $5K just to keep it on the road?…These old cars can be a pricey long term labor of love…8)
Love the car, hate the color. I grow up when these cars were new and Frost Green looked just as bad then as it does now. Chevy painted way too many cars this color. 😂 My dad had a Dusk Blue 1969 Belair, a much better color!
You can definitely get that thing back on the road. The engine runs great. When it comes time to replace the clutch replace the ring gear on the flywheel. It's very easy to do. I can't wait to see that thing driving on the road. Good luck.
I didn't realize it but your ride came with wheelcovers; are you planning to put on some same size Chevy Rally wheels, since they were a factory option but keep the steelies stashed away.
That car has real good bones. On the T'stat housing, I wouldn't tighten one side too much before tightening the other side. I'd go a little at a time, side to side. That thing is only thin cast aluminum / pot metal. The engine sounds a lot better at the end. I wouldn't be surprised if it has valve issues. It will probably be a real PITA to do a compression check on it, with all the accessories in the way, but that will tell the tale. When you get to the interior, see if there is any wiring and connectors under the driver seat. I wouldn't be surprised if it had a power bucket seat originally, given how loaded up that car is. That is a great project car!
Have a 69 El Camino, with enough miles to go to the moon and back twice, driven hard all of its life, good car, the front ends on Chevy's are weak, would check the ball joints, lube them up, and check the whole mechanism out. And the u joints of the driveshaft, bushings etc., Don't want a control arm issue at speed or ball joint problem. It is worth the check. Also some Lucas oil treatment might help in the oil, about a quart of it, good stuff. Nice boat. Get her done, War is coming, heard some cells may be activated, Military on move everywhere. It sucks I know. What happened to the civilians in Israel is going to be going on here, Get ready, stock up, ports, roads will be a nightmare. Check points the whole police state nine yard tyrannical crap. That fellow there with you in the video, I bet he knows a trick or two. Watch your six, Draft coming too.
You over tightened 1 side before you snugged it down. You can hear an audible snap as the housing broke. Next time evenly snug up the thermostat housing before torque.
I could for see what was going to happen with the thermostat housing my dad would always tell me don’t over tighten those bolts because you can crack the housing I believe I cringed when I herd it crack all part of doing mechanic work though is learning from your mistakes I’ve had plenty in my lifetime
Tremendous effort methodically getting that '69 to run relatively smoothly. Is your ultimate plan to do a body OFF frame restoration ?!? This model with those rare options could bring top dollar. 👉 🚘🔍. = 💱
I’m dropping the 390 in my 69 Mach One. I’m making sure I have a brand new timing chain, spark plugs, water pump and oil pump before I put it in my car.
Man, are you sure you know what you're doing? Hope you don't break that motor man? Ha ha. Just hadn't fun. I don't like that sound but the Sound of the motor but that See what happens?😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Man i have never been more excited to see another man bring his car back to life!!! Thank you for taking us along this journey with you. Ha ....i think your dog was running off with an exhaust piece 😂.
Thanks man! That’s my buddy’s dog and she keeps trying to bite me
westport wa.state here and watch. i felt for you when saw the pump. owned a 1977 chev dually. same motor and that dam pump.
Hey hey 👋🏾 Do you guys have a lot of old iron over there?
Reminds me of that movie Christine. Be careful LOL
Little secret ,cut a short piece of radiator overflow hose .,attach to plugs ,easyier to install.👍🏻😁
I like that. Thanks!
I like the way you do the work that you do! Wisdom is the correct use of knowledge.

You had me at 427 Manual. Plus those Hide away headlights she's a runner. And the Redline tire's NICE touch Sir.
Thanks for watching. Did you see the rescue video 👇🏾

Hey Dezzy. Love the Caprice project. Thanks for posting. May God Bless.
Thank you! You too!
Good going! This 1 of a kind car deserves the love!!
Excited for you! Can't wait to see the Caprice run like a champ!!
Me too!!
Nice old ride great find. Love those red line tires. They look good on it.
Good luck with it man👍

That is not crappy for a 55 year old V8 427 Big-B. Sounds solid...
Been waiting for this report. Such a sweet incredible car. NEW CAMERA? The clarity is off the chain!
I’m glad you noticed 😉
What a cool car! I’ve always liked them. 🔧🏁
Can’t wait for the next episode man!
Time to drive it around the block 😵💫

Thanks for the tip
Moving right along. Looking forward to a video of you driving the Caprice on the road and seeing the headlight doors open.
Next up! There’s about a half mile of vacuum lines to sort through ugh
Another awesome video and thank you for your time and efforts to produce great work on your videos.thumbs up ALWAYS...💯👍😎

Thanks!

That's one hell of a find
Next door neighbor had one of these triple black car and her brother had a huger orange 302 z28 .I don't know which one I loved most her or the car.
Look like the dog stole a drive shaft lol
That Dog hates me 😂
Awesome car. Great find
If your compression test goes well I would be checking the valve seals they are probably overdue for replacement.
I’d love to find one of those around me I love the big block 427 Chevy

Yea it came with a parts car 😎
I couldn’t give the guy 5k fast enough for this!
Really awesome!!
I'm 65 remembering well these rigs.
Good luck with everything
Thanks!
Definitely a keeper!
Just found your channel , keep up the good work

I love that, Caprice. How's your little guy ?
kind of hard to tell from what you have shown of the plugs, but i wouldn't worry about ring blow-by. probably just old valve guide seals.
It runs great now!
Brother you have a diamond in the rough.

Of course it didn't help when you went all gorilla on tightening that bolt up. I cringed when you didn't stop crankin on it.
Great job. Just curious what is the production code on that Quadrajet. Should be stamped on the drivers side at the hump for the secondaries.

Yikes! Labor or love
Very cool 🤙 I didn't realize it had the engine in it in the last video I watched. Pull it out and do the weekend refresh
That other video was the one I saw at the estate sale. Here’s the rescue video of mine:

Hey, sounds a lot better, man, hell. Yeah, that's your way to make them run now. Let's see if it moves.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Time to take it around the block
Okay man 👨
Really love this car 😍
Thanks man. It’s a cool car
Love the car, hate the color. I grow up when these cars were new and Frost Green looked just as bad then as it does now. Chevy painted way too many cars this color. 😂 My dad had a Dusk Blue 1969 Belair, a much better color!

Great job brother and a great channel making it happen every time 👍
I appreciate that
That is a. Real rare find
Go under the fender to get to the plugs on the big. Block
Had a car just like that something was 350 dual exhaust sport rims
They ride so nicely
need to put the spark plug shields back on to keep the plug boots wires from burning up cool car
car should have head light washers also look at the wiper motor should be a relay switch with your hoses on it
It does

Don’t mind him 😂 Thanks!
Loving the content. Keep it up :)
Glad you enjoy it! I’m having fun
Hello from Detroit, that is going to be a bad bitch ,can't wait to see it running
I didn't realize it but your ride came with wheelcovers; are you planning to put on some same size Chevy Rally wheels, since they were a factory option but keep the steelies stashed away.
I’ll have an update here soon 😈

And I have the correct headrest seats for it 👍🏾
I have been looking for a car like this just a fixer up.. like the one I had years ago.. is it forsale?
How many offers on the 61 bubble?
Great car, what are your plans for it?
didn't they use High Octane gas for the 427s back in the day?
yes! I believe it was like 12 to 1 compression!! Def need high octane gas for it to run smooth. Detonatin will hurt your engine.
For the 425-435hp ones. This one is 335hp
My 396 Caprice/hideaways is a non a/c car; easy breezy.😜
Kick me while I’m down won’t you 😂
Hurry Dezzy dad needs his car !
The car just screams sleeper. Lon from Ohio...
You may have tightened that thermostat housing down too much and cracked it. It's easy to do. Find the torque specs and go with that.
💪🏿
Awe sommee
liked it
You'd think that a car that size wouldn't have to shoehorn any engine under that massive hood.
The engine isn’t the problem. It’s the New York-sized apartment amount of stuff to make the hideaways work 😀
Hell yeah brother love it just sub ya two
Rizlone will free up stuck lifters ,and rings
Jackson the car up and go through the finder well to change plugs
tighten bolt?

Dude those almost look original lol

That's the plan! But enjoy it right now though
I’d pull that junk carb , and install a newHEI Distributor, and wires
Also change the pcv valve in valve covers Bro
Man I hate those big block exhaust manifolds cracking, sounds like shit.
True 😂 I’m just glad it’s not a boat anchor
How miles is on the 427 chevy
108,000 I believe
Better do a compression test, sounds like a burnt valve
Might be easier to get the plug through the wheel well....
It wasn’t 😫
It's never going to run excellent until you beat on it a little driving in on the road really will blow it out
Next up is doing the brakes, rebuilding the carburetor and changing the gas tank then it’s time for some road miles
@@DezzysSpeedShop happy to see you doing your own work next you should learn some auto body
Welcome to big block hell working on Chevrolet try big block Fords there is always one or two that are just impossible
