I became an NFL Fan in 1980, then I became a College Football fan in 1984. To this day, this is hands-down the greatest Football game I have ever seen wire-to-wire. It had it all. The fast start by the Broncos in the 1st period and the beating they continued giving the Sooners throughout the 1st half. The Sooners comeback in the 3rd period, the Sooners taking the lead with less 2 minutes in the 4th, the Broncos Hook & Lateral to tie the game on 4th down and send it to OT. The Sooners taking the lead, then TD Broncos, Statue of Liberty 🗽 to win. And to top this masterpiece with a cherry on top, the RB who converted the 2 point play to win goes to the sideline and converts on a marriage proposal to his girlfriend cheerleader. This is not on this video but it sure as hell should be. If anyone can find a better game wire-to-wire... name it. This was better than any Hollywood Movie. This is Football 🏈
Boise Native here. Hands down the most exciting sports experience of my (then) 10 year old life. Coach P was like Ghandi to us Boiseans Also, Ian Johnson proposed to his gf right after the game.
You should have pointed out that there was another lateral built into that play. If the corner on James reacted quick enough to peel off and tackle Raab then Ian Johnson's route was designed to receive a lateral from Raab. Truly a brilliantly designed play
Man I remember watching this game when I was like 13/14 with my dad and his best friend who lived here in Arizona, she got us tickets to go with her and I can proudly say I was at this game and still to this day it is the best college football game I’ve ever had the pleasure of watching!
I’m a Boise state fan. As a kid, this game was the game that got me to start playing football when I was 9. Looking back, it was the first time we got an ounce of respect from the rest of the college football world. We’ve had best coach awards, a heisman finalist, and 3-0 in New Years 6/BCS bowls, but still no one gives us a chance. But when you tell people you’re a bronco fan and they ask if you’ve seen the ‘07 fiesta bowl, just for one moment, you feel respected.
Ryan Clady really deserves a mention. He was playing LT for Boise and he got drafted in the first round soon after and made multiple pro bowls early in his career. Another reason that statue of liberty play was dynamite was that he was the lead blocker.
An employee goes to the company picnic in a full Michigan getup. Pants, shirt, hat, the guy is wearing the works. One of his colleagues that played for Appalachian State on "The Day" just wore his Jersey. And, he followed the Michigan fan wherever he went at the picnic.
Not a huge amounts of history though other than Michigan predicted to do big things that season. The michigan messed up punt versus michigan state if you wanna go that early in season is better, but that game is a little too recent to be called a moment in history fully yet.
far and away. the jason lezak moment is not just the best moment in swim, but arguably in olympic history. without the fastest 100 free of all time, without a 32 year old veteran dropping the time nonetheless, without going 4 seconds under the world record to win by a mere eight one-hundreths of a second to the superior in every way french team, michael phelps would be remembered as just "the guy who tied mark spitz in 2008." he may still be the most decorated but he may not be known as the best olympian of all time without jason lezak's absolute MONSTER of a relay leg.
@@connormoland6195 Bob Beamon's leap in 1968 is still IMO the most amazing individual Olympic feat of all time, with Lezak's a strong second. But Lezak's undoubtedly was more clutch and emotionally uplifting.
I was like 9 years old and this game made me a football fan for life. Living room full of OU fans and after the game everyone agreed that it was absolutely legendary
Not really. Utah's original busting of the BCS before this in 2004 was what started the original dominos, and by the time BSU, Utah again (with all sorts of national championship controversy), & then finally TCU did it the NCAA basically had no choice. 🤷
Boise overcoming multiple deficits at the end of the game is even more amazing when you consider what had happened in their previous two bowl games: Jared Zabransky had thrown game-ending interceptions in heartbreaking losses in 2004 (vs. a legit top 5 Louisville team) and 2005 (vs. Boston College in Matt Ryan's final college game) before throwing that ugly pick-6 vs. OU. That 4th and 18 hook & ladder was amazingly clutch and flawlessly executed all around...
I only watch college football and I've seen thousands of them. Boise State vs. Oklahoma in the 2007 Tostitos Bowl is most, thrilling, and exciting game I have even seen. Appalachian State taking down the Michigan Wolverines in the Big House and Auburn's Pick Six versus Alabama are up there too. These are the only three games that are standout in my memory.
It pains me to watch this one, but I always love all of your rewind videos. I get goosebumps every time you guys say “Welcome to a moment in History.” Keep up the good work! #BoomerSooner
Do the 2008 Men's 4x100 Freestyle Relay from Beijing Olympics, where Jason Lezak stunned the French on the final leg to help Michael Phelps keep his quest for 8 golds alive. One of the greatest moments in American swimming
God I love this series. It doesn’t matter who is hosting, the editing makes it look incredibly dramatic and well executed. My favorite series of videos.
I was a young Oklahoma fan watching with my family that night. It was a great game. I remember being so upset when we lost. But all these years later, even though it's frustrating they lost, I still give props to BSU for playing a nearly flawless game. Both teams had shots to win it and Boise just capitalized and took shots when they needed it most.
Didn't one of the players ask his cheerleader G/F to marry him right after the game?? Top 3 football game ever probably number 1. I can't think of a better game... Ohio State beating Miami was great to. Many overtimes...
Ian Johnson, the RB that ran in the game-winning 2PC was the one that proposed. Yeah it was a high pressure situation and all but apparently they have a very happy and still-strong marriage to this day.
You know if Johnson somehow got tackled short on the last play (not that anyone was near him but just say 1 Oklahoma defensive player busts through the screen and makes a great play) it might be tough to ask his gf to marry him if she was really bummed out by that play.
This and the '06 Rose Bowl Texas vs USC are my two favorite games of all time. Was in 8th grade and then a freshman for this one, so glad to have watched these great games. I love college football.

i got to see it live and in person. watching these rewinds brings back all the heart pounding thrills and goose bumps.... we cheered and yelled so loud that game our voices were hoarse for the next 3 days.
WE NEED A HOCKEY REWINDER!!! I am loving this series, but we need a NHL rewinder. There are plenty of options of great rewinders: fleury's clutch save in the 2009 stanley cup finals, Patrick Kane's stanley cup winning goal in 2010, Brett Hull's 1999 contraversial Stanley cup winning goal, Martin St. Louis's Game 6 Stanley cup saving OT goal in 2004 and many more!
I know the Olympics are terrible in terms of image rights and that it’s a story told one million times, but this series was made for Mike Eruzione’s goal in The Miracle.
Do a rewind of Mario Gotzë’s World Cup winning goal in 2014, Steven Gerard’s slip to throw away the premiere league title in 2014, or John Terry’s penalty kick slip in 2008 to lose the champions league final

A great Boise State video and worth a watch by any fan of football! I was a HUGE Boise State fan in 2006 and, as such, I've seen many different replay videos regarding this game. I want to tell you, SB Nation, that this video is now one of my favorites - I especially enjoyed the script. By combining game footage with each team's (players, staff, program, season) history and unique dynamics, you provided me a new and exciting perspective on what had become a somewhat boring and played out topic. Additionally, the informative commentary contributed to the excitement of the game's highlights. I had completely forgotten how much I use to enjoy watching highlight reels. Thank you for producing this style of video and for including Boise State! I'm looking forward to more of your videos and I subscribed to the channel as well.
Hi! Secret Base, you're a very popular social media account and so despite having thousands of comments, I'm asking for a selfish request in the hopes someone sees this one. Could anyone tell me the two songs in the background of this video, specifically at 7:22 and 5:57. They both caught my ear and as of this moment, I want nothing more than to listen to them.
In the current format, a committee selects four teams, and I doubt they would have been selected in that format (if you doubt me, look what happened to UCF last year). Furthermore, they would then still have to play two games to be champs. No way to say accurately that they would win one or both. They actually would have been more likely to be named champs in the old format based on AP and coaches polls. They probably would have been named co-champs with Ohio State.
@@mikemartin5749 Those kellen Moore years are the most powerful Group of 5 teams ever assembled. Under todays format Those teams would have easily made a push for the playoff. Boise had been growing for several years and secretley waiting to break out. Ucf cant touch what Boise has done, lets say UCF keeps getting better and actually beats some high profile names during the regular season like Oregon, Georgia, and Va Tech ect, then yes UCF will make a puch also. Boise State in 2006 and the 07 Fiesta is what UCF was last year, went un beaten against a bad schedule and beat a down team in a bcs bowl. UCF beat Auburn that just missed out on the CFP and wanted more, Boise State beat a down OU during a year when the Big 12 wasnt that great, keep in mind OU was the Big 12 Champ. Auburn last year wasnt even the Sec champ. So once again UCF has an even worse schedule and has hit a ceiling just outside the cfp top 4. See the difference? If UCF wants the credit and respect to make the playoff, they need to schedule better teams. Get better and the next few classes better be good ones. Boise State loaded up after this Fiesta Bowl year and wound up have the Best Winning Class in all of college football in 08-11 at 50-3 with all 3 losses against Foes and not power 5's. Tcu twice and Nevada. All losses were by a total of 5 points. 2 missed field goals and a 1 point loss to tcu in the poinsettia bowl. Boise State was 5 points away from being possibly 53-0. They would have had tougher bowl games but Boise State was that good that you could easily marked them up as wins. Until UCF goes on that run, they cant touch what Boise has done or cry about not making the cfp. Take this year had Boise been legit and be sitting at 12-0 with the conference championship game to go, they would be knocking on the door of the cfp with UCF still watching. Boise State has set the standard for what it takes to earn respect.
@@rickhoward1516 I regret mentioning UCF, because it distracted from my point. I agree with you that those BSU teams were better than UCF, but my actual point is that the committee is never going to bring in anyone except power 5 teams, and every final four team has to win two games. The original poster did not consider those parameters.
Yeah, the committee would never have picked them unless they got to pick AFTER this game. IMO they were just as good as Florida or Ohio State that year - after all, this was a legit OU team they beat - OU only had 2 losses, one was from a completely bogus call where they had the game 100% locked up if the ref didn't blow it, the other was to a pretty good Texas team (Texas went 9-3, with 1 loss to Ohio State and the other 2 came with Colt McCoy injured).
Best football game I’ve ever watched. I was waiting for this one. I don’t even like college football and for some reason this was on and I couldn’t look away.

Coach P was like Ghandi to us Boiseans
Also, Ian Johnson proposed to his gf right after the game.
You should have pointed out that there was another lateral built into that play. If the corner on James reacted quick enough to peel off and tackle Raab then Ian Johnson's route was designed to receive a lateral from Raab. Truly a brilliantly designed play
Zabransky trailing johnson as well as a last resort
I was there in the stadium that night. Was pretty amazing. We get another opportunity December 31 for more Fiesta magic. Go Broncos
I love this series. It's like I'm watching a documentary on a cold case file, wondering what happens next even though I watched it live.
Ryan Clady really deserves a mention. He was playing LT for Boise and he got drafted in the first round soon after and made multiple pro bowls early in his career. Another reason that statue of liberty play was dynamite was that he was the lead blocker.
Need to do Appalachian State over Michigan blocked field goal in 2007.
NO WE DON’T!
YEEEESSSSSS
An employee goes to the company picnic in a full Michigan getup. Pants, shirt, hat, the guy is wearing the works. One of his colleagues that played for Appalachian State on "The Day" just wore his Jersey. And, he followed the Michigan fan wherever he went at the picnic.
Real talk
Not a huge amounts of history though other than Michigan predicted to do big things that season. The michigan messed up punt versus michigan state if you wanna go that early in season is better, but that game is a little too recent to be called a moment in history fully yet.
Never cared for college football games, but when I actually sat down and watched, I witnessed USC vs Texas Rose bowl 2006 and this one, amazing!
I will not stop until there is a reminder of Michael Phelps 100 meter butterfly at the Beijing olympics
Yes! This needs to happen
Or Jason Lezak's world record anchor leg of the 4x100 Free Relay at Beijing where he overtook the French and kept Phelps's hopes alive!
Agreed
far and away. the jason lezak moment is not just the best moment in swim, but arguably in olympic history. without the fastest 100 free of all time, without a 32 year old veteran dropping the time nonetheless, without going 4 seconds under the world record to win by a mere eight one-hundreths of a second to the superior in every way french team, michael phelps would be remembered as just "the guy who tied mark spitz in 2008." he may still be the most decorated but he may not be known as the best olympian of all time without jason lezak's absolute MONSTER of a relay leg.
The game that gave us the College Football Playoffs.
Not really. Utah's original busting of the BCS before this in 2004 was what started the original dominos, and by the time BSU, Utah again (with all sorts of national championship controversy), & then finally TCU did it the NCAA basically had no choice. 🤷
As a die hard Texas fan, i LOVED this game
Tha blocking on that play was magnificent! Boise State deserved & earned every single bit of that win
The best game I've ever seen. I own the DVD, and watch it at least once a year!
I still remember this. It was one of the most insane plays I've ever witnessed.
Probably greatest game ever played. The announcers call at the end almost brought tears to my eyes
It pains me to watch this one, but I always love all of your rewind videos. I get goosebumps every time you guys say “Welcome to a moment in History.” Keep up the good work! #BoomerSooner
I'm still not okay because of this game
I get goosebumps for the same reason in each video...
This game was so good I bought it on dvd and I still have it.
Do the 2008 Men's 4x100 Freestyle Relay from Beijing Olympics, where Jason Lezak stunned the French on the final leg to help Michael Phelps keep his quest for 8 golds alive. One of the greatest moments in American swimming
WOW I just commented this! 100% one of the best moments in US Olympic history!!
ya but its swimming...
2008 Brazilian GP.
‘Is that Glock?!!!’
Nation Gurung yessss
God I love this series. It doesn’t matter who is hosting, the editing makes it look incredibly dramatic and well executed. My favorite series of videos.
I was a young Oklahoma fan watching with my family that night. It was a great game. I remember being so upset when we lost. But all these years later, even though it's frustrating they lost, I still give props to BSU for playing a nearly flawless game. Both teams had shots to win it and Boise just capitalized and took shots when they needed it most.
The LT #79 had the most crucial assignment and he cleaned up 2 dudes. If he blows that block the play is dead.
Ryan Clady. Ended up with Denver Broncos and best tackle for a number of years.
Huge block
Ryan Clady was a beast. Unfortunate his NFL career was cut short due to injuries.
@@cpfalcon51 Would have been a hall of famer if he could have stayed healthy.
Wait, they really told Ian Johnson he couldn’t sell hats that he made himself? Wtf bro, man had a genuine hustle.
Greatest College Football game of all time.
Troy Tanis yep either that or USC v Texas
I have that ENTIRE broadcast on VHS, with commercials!
That last play gives me goosebumps EVERY time!
Yes! This is one of my favorite sports moments of all time. I remember watching this live. Goosebumps still
I was at this game, it was insane when that happened
I've seen these highlights 40-50 times 🙂
Didn't one of the players ask his cheerleader G/F to marry him right after the game?? Top 3 football game ever probably number 1. I can't think of a better game... Ohio State beating Miami was great to. Many overtimes...
The starting RB did. It was sweet, though, it's kind of hard to say 'no' in front of thousands of people.
Melvin Shine You know what I just thought.... What if BSU lost does he still propose or wait for a better time? haha
@@melvinshine9841 They're still married and have a daughter.
This and the '06 Rose Bowl Texas vs USC are my two favorite games of all time. Was in 8th grade and then a freshman for this one, so glad to have watched these great games. I love college football.
My favorite college game ever. Amazing game, BSU was gassed at the end but man, giant killer.
Man remember my dad telling me I missed one of the sickest play calls ever when I got home
Auburns back to back miracle plays would be awesome
Nifty Noldog, oh yeah, the Hail Mary to Louis after Georgia’s 3 TD 4th quarter deserves its own video.
Then of course the next game had the Kick-Six
You could do a video on the Tiger's whole 2013 season, from game 1 it was heart attack city, and that that championship loss... still hurts
Which also in this video he said "no one has a play for 4th and 18" and the Auburn Hail Mary tipped pass against UGA was on 4th and 18 lol
Florida state beat y'all
@@josephhowell8158 what's a " y'all"?
I remember watching that game.
This is why I love being able to call Idaho and specifically my home.
Do the bills comeback against the oilers in 1993 they down 35-3 and win with a backup QB
They only focus on a specific moment from a game in Rewinder, so this will not get featured unless they do a new series on things like comebacks.
Put some respek on Frank Reich’s name. Also, learn what the show you’re watching is about.
I remember watching that game as a kid, that comeback was crazy
Novaura Autism I mean they did a whole episode on a tennis match
Yes! And then do one on the Music City Miracle!!!
I was born and raised in Boise and this game was a BIG deal for us. I was 8 years old at the time and to this day I still remember watching it on TV. Still one of the greatest football games I’ve ever witnessed.
One word to describe this game "CLASSIC"
One more word: “INSTANT”
i got to see it live and in person. watching these rewinds brings back all the heart pounding thrills and goose bumps.... we cheered and yelled so loud that game our voices were hoarse for the next 3 days.
One of my favorite games that I've ever watched. Great job Will!
Watched this as a 9 year old and can't ever forget it. Growing up as a UT Longhorn fan, I was rooting for Boise State. Heck of a game.
Ole Gunnar Solskjær's goal vs Bayern Munich 1999 deserves a deep rewind
I remember watching this live. What a great moment.
THIS
Marek Malik in the shootout
Noah Rocca Stephane Matteau double OT goal vs. Devils in 1994
I know the Olympics are terrible in terms of image rights and that it’s a story told one million times, but this series was made for Mike Eruzione’s goal in The Miracle.
Noah Rocca I was thinking of the stars missed open goal vs the oilers
This game was some peak college football. Absolutely magical and a classic
I'm not American, and I hate American sports, but these videos are so elite I don't even care about the content. This channel is pure storytelling.
Now that's a compliment!
Imagine flipping on a game because nothing else is on tv and witnessing the greatest game you'll ever see.
Do a rewind of Mario Gotzë’s World Cup winning goal in 2014, Steven Gerard’s slip to throw away the premiere league title in 2014, or John Terry’s penalty kick slip in 2008 to lose the champions league final
SB Nation, I'd like to thank you for listening to your comment section from the UT vs USC video. These videos are awesome and I'm really glad you covered this once in a life time game.
No Hockey yet? Crosby's Golden Goal 2010 Olympics. Kuznetsov's OT winner against Pittsburgh in 2018. Brett Hull's Cup winning Goal. SO many to choose from!
Carl John yeah I know right
But two women’s soccer videos so and women’s baseketball, veryyyh popular sports
Keoni Mana Or Chicago scoring twice in 17 seconds in the 2013 Stanley Cup Finals vs Boston
1994 Eastern Conference Finals Game 7 Rangers vs Devils...Matteau!!
Nobody watches hockey that's why lol
This is one of the best games I've ever watched. I actually still go back and watch it from time to time
Won’t stop until Suarez’s handball at World Cup 2010 gets a rewind. 🇺🇾🇺🇾🇺🇾🇺🇾
Welcome to a moment in history "OHHHH HE SAILED IT OVER THE BAR!!! And look at Suarez grinning up the tunnel!" click.
Epic.
As a Longhorns fan, I’ll never forget this game.
i can watch that play over and over again. it never gets old
I'm from Oklahoma and I can remember getting ragged on by my coworkers for saying. Boise was going to win.
I'm not a football fan at all, but man! That one ranks as the greatest of the few games I've ever watched. Awesome fun! Thanks for the rewind.
I'm happy Chris is our coach
Hahahaha. This didn't age well.
Boise State would be National Champions if they had played in the format of today's college football. It's a shame
RIGHT!!!
YES!!! FINALLY!!! I remember watching this game live in my small Idaho house and going absolutely crazy when Boise won. Best football game of all time
i love these rewinders - but i just wish you'd run the celebration a bit longer. it can just seem so anticlimactic
Best football game I’ve ever watched.
I was waiting for this one. I don’t even like college football and for some reason this was on and I couldn’t look away.
Malice at the Palace, or Derrick Rose's ACL Injury
I’d make a beef out of the Malice at the Palace.
This game is so legendary that I feel so privileged just to have been able to watch this game live. The way the game played out couldn't have been scripted any better and was as suspenseful as suspenseful can get.
Does anyone know the music tracks that are used in these videos?
BRONCO NATION! Living in Boise and being a huge Broncos fan thank you for making this video! One of my favorite games of all time.
Edit:also for future reference it's Boi-C not Boi-Z:)
You forgot at the end when Ian Johnson proposed to his cheerleader girlfriend
I fully believe that's where the rewinder should have started.
I remember watching that game and being absolutely blown away by its awesomeness.
2011 World Series Game 6 and bring back Jon Bois
Been trying to get this one for weeks. I need it!
This show gives me goosebumps every time. So good. Especially this one.
THE CLOSEST BUNDESLIGA FINISH NEEDS A DEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP FKIN REWIND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
One of the greatest games I have ever seen. What an upset, and what a brilliant call on the last play!!
Luis Suarez handball against Ghana in the 2010 world cup!!!
Thank you so much SBNation for doing this game. Very well done. Go Broncos!
Johnson sold it
I remember watching this game. It was absolutely nuts, an absolutely fantastic game!
