- I do not own or claim any rights to this material. Boise State vs Oklahoma. Statue of liberty, Hook and Ladder, and one of the greatest game's ever played.
Make a sandwich, grab a bowl of chips and a cold beer and prop those feet up on the couch.
Every time this game is played on a TV at Walmart or Costco here in Boise, there are at least half a dozen guys standing around watching and they still can't help but get excited. Seven years later it's still as fun as ever.
Since I’m writing this twelve years after the fact, I have no illusions that anyone will actually read it. Having said that, this was truly a game for the ages. The announcers, none of whom are household names, did a fantastic job throughout the game. I was particularly struck by the pregame interview with Boise State’s head coach, and his response to the question “can you hang with Oklahoma?” “We’ve been practicing
hard, and we’re gonna leave it all on the field.” If that wasn’t prophetic, then I don’t know what prophetic is.
Didn't mind staying up till 4 in the morn to watch this from the UK. Best college game I've ever seen, and why I'll forever be a Broncos fan!
I respect that statement bro. Usually people in the UK just rip on American football.
Thanks very much, it's my absolute favourite sport. What you mentioned is the ignorance of some soccer fans coming out. Gridiron IMO is growing in popularity here, mainly due to the NFL International Series.
17fused Not anymore. Wembley is sold out three times a year now for regular season NFL games. Whilst I LOVE football, I also love American Football. Trust me, this sport is getting HUGE over here.
Preach it, Darren lad!
Went to this game in seventh grade with my dad. Best game I've ever seen played in my short 19 years. I will never forget this game and I am proud to be a student and I will support them for live. Bronco Nation!!!!
This is hands down the best college football game I've ever seen. Instant classic.
“The lateral!” Still puts a smile on my face 17 years later. Go Broncos, America’s team
It doesn't take a Bronco or Sooner fan to appreciate this fantastic game. Amazing upset on a big stage using one of the coolest trick plays in football. One-point game, high scoring, went to overtime...what more could you ask for!?
Even though my Sooners lost that night it was and still is the greatest football game I've ever watched.
Oklahoma has always been a powerhouse in football. I wish them the best. (A Boise State fan)
As a Sooner fan, this game was amazing to witness, even though the loss was pretty painful. I'm proud to say I was there in person to watch one of the greatest college football games ever!
Dear Boise state,
Thank you for a Hell of a game to watch and enjoy especially the end
Love,
Longhorns Everywhere
I've watched awesome international soccer games, thrilling NBA, college BB, but this game by far is the greatest and most exciting game/sporting event of all time!
I rarely watched College football back in 2007 but I was bored and lucky enough to turn on this game about half way through. Best College football game that I have ever watched, it had me yelling and jumping up and down. Great game!!!!
This game and last nights game Auburn vs Alabama are the best games I've ever seen!
yesssssssssss
greatest game I have ever seen
Vince young vs Reggie bush in the Texas USC champion ship was the best ever
@@Derek22021 respectfully not even remotely close
This one
The prayer at jordan hare/ iron bowl ( Auburn vs alabama )
The prayer at jordan hare part 2 ( georgia/ aurburn )
That team in maize and blue vs Appalachian state
Every single day leading up to the Orange Bowl I've got the hook and ladder on my playlist to help get pumped up for NIU's Orange Bowl appearance. Thanks Boise for paving the way!
As a 'Bama fan I agree 100%. To this day I've never seen a game anywhere near as epic as this!
This was a terrific game,,,thanks for posting. Always a pleasure to watch Oklahoma lose creatively:-).
2024 and we're back, this time in the playoff 💪
to me the hook and ladder play was the best moment I ever experienced watching college ball. The statue of liberty was icing on the cake. Best game ever, by far
I can’t believe I’m watching this again 17 yrs later. I still remember that night I was in 4th grade watching this with my pops (he doesn’t watch football usually) but damn we were both into it all game it was a roller coaster ride!
This was probably THE greatest college football game I have ever seen!
One of the best games I have ever had the privilege of watching Live.
As an avid college football fan, this was the greatest game I had ever seen.
4th and 2 was just as big as statue of liberty but this game gave so much credit to non bcs schools, changed college fball forever
I remember watching this when I was 8, and everyone knew Oklahoma was going to win. To this day, I still laugh about Boise St. throwing the Statue of Liberty play to win, but it was still amazing to witness this live. I don't think this will ever be duplicated. Even if anyone tried.
Greatest game in BCS era
Really hurt losing Malcolm Kelly in the 1st. Either way, an unbelievable game that this Sooner fan calls one of his all time favorites!
Only saw like the 4th quarter/OT of this game live on tv, but that was enough to see how AWESOME it was.
this is literally the best football game ive ever seen. like WOAH
I missed this game entirely when it was 1st aired. I just didn't follow college football. I moved to Boise and I decided to watch this game not knowing the result. Best damn football game ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go Boise!!!!
Greatest game i have ever seen in any sport, i will never forget anything about it and i am not a boise state nor oaklahoma fan. Thank you so much for this video, i still get goosebumps watching it now!
even though I was going for Oklahoma, that was the GREATEST GAME OF ALL TIME!!!!!!
I remember this was on a school night and i stayed up past my bedtime to watch this! truly great moment in sports!
Tomorrow Boise state plays Penn State in the Fiesta Bowl, and no one believes we can win. Hope history repeats itself.
Watched it live amazing game thanks for the upload
Who else gets goosebumps when the announcer says, "The lateral!"?
every time i watch it
Best three hours of my life.
I was at that game...as a sooner fan...tough to relive but also great to know I witnessed the greatest game in history.
Wow man...you are i think the first OU fan that i have heard give us credit. Thanks for the good luck and right back at ya.
One of my favorite games in College Football. For me the reason NOT to have a playoff. We would lose these special moments. I love the traditions and I do not need to "know" who number 1 is. Favorite moment looking back at 2:33:02 AllState Good Hands Play of the Game ... a mere 4 touchdowns, 2 fourth and game, one wild extra point and half a dozen heartbreak and heart attack moments for both set of fans too early.
Amen I am kind of with you in that vein. It’s not popular in 2022, but it’s fair though. The epic traditions and awesome moments like this are something that is lost now. Nowadays, these Oklahoma kids would have sat out. Adrian Peterson (who played a great game, and truly provided the big dog for the story) would have never even played, and that’s not right.
I think that’s sadly something that is lost in today’s game.
The consolation is that in a season, in 2024, when we move to a 12 team playoff, perhaps we can have epic moments in the playoffs now, between Oklahoma #2 and Boise State #7, but it’s not going to be the same.
Some traditions were lost which is sad. But I’m hopeful that with the 12 team playoff, we could get some of it back. I agree with you though, these special moments, and creating my bowl schedule during the holiday seasons as a kid was the most fun thing ever.
Starting to watch this again as an NIU fan as we head toward the MAC Championship on Friday; this game gives all mid-majors hope
And 7 years later we have a playoff!
Ken Yoshida a shitty playoff yes but one none the less
thanks for the 8444158458651789165498634894187436489 hours it took to upload this
hey man thank you so much for uploading
before i could buy the dvd i had to move from state side and been looking for this game forever...
the best game ever
Greatest game I've ever seen!
I wish I had been old enough to watch this game and understand the implications it had. Damn. (I was 11)
Me too (I was barely born 5 months after this)
Greatest College football game i have ever seen . I still love Boise State to this day. Go BRONCOS
Best non-championship game I've ever seen. Remember it like it was yesterday.
I was here 50yard line Boise State fan! This was the best game i have ever seen in my life! was so glad that i lived in Arizona at the time! Will always be a proud ASU fan but ASU has never played a game like this before!
Then we beat you guys in the fiesta bowl years later lol.
@@taylorm_2892beat Arizona not Arizona st
Two years later, Utah Utes from the WAC will have another perfect season and allowed to play Alabama. Half time score was the same for the Utes as Boise State.. 21 - 10 over Alabama and Oklahoma.
Thanks for uploading this College Football Classic Bowl Game. Much appreciated.
I'm a die hard BSU fan, and have to admit, this game is not the best EVER, but definitely the best in a long long time. Epic.
2:41:50..."I've seen it all...now" Erm...just wait!
I can watch the last part of this game over and over all day long. I crack up at Brennaman's lack of enthusiasm when AP scores on the first play of OT. :-D
Just watched this years fiesta bowl and while it was a good game, it reminded me of the greatest football game of all time.
no doubt a top 5 game of all time
Greatest college football game ever
Absolutely and not even a close second...Boise's last four scoring plays were 1. hook and lateral; 2. extra point; 3. halfback option/toss; 4. statue of liberty. Classic!
This was a great game... and I'm a Sooner! That play went down in history. It only took about 5 years to get over it XD
Thanks fellow fan of college football
I still can't get over how great of this was now almost 6 years later even though I am a Ben Ten guy with the ever Fiesta Bowl in that stadium
I love watching for players that are in the NFL now.
I sat on the side of the endzone where Boise's last TD and Statue of Liberty occured right in front of me. We knew when we left that it was a game for the ages, and we would be talking about that game for many many years.
THANK YOU FOR THIS VID!!!!
what a game! this game and the 2 Vince Young Rose Bowls will never be forgetten.... Also 04 fiesta bowl but us Miami fans try to forget that one
I was at this game. The statue of liberty was so well executed that some of the boise fans were mad thinking that the BSU was stopped on WR screen.
It only took 17 years to get a playoff
Man, remember watching this with my dad and brother, we were obviously rooting for the Broncos in this one, we love underdogs winning. We were practically screaming at the lateral and statue of liberty play, was just so damn epic.
This is why I love COLLEGE FOOTBALL!
All time classic!
Best ending to game ever seen!
Whether or not it was trick plays that won this game, this was one hell of a game to watch. It was New Year's Eve and I stayed in to watch and oh boy did I make the right decision.
I believe the better TEAM won. Now OK probably had better players, but they were not the better team that night.
I'm sorry but I think this is the single greatest college football game ever.
The scope was very close to that of a national championship, with the BCS Power Conference vs Small Conference, BCS vs. Playoff debate raging, everyone was looking to this game to see how good the small conferences really were.
The back and forthness of the game is unrivaled. At 28-10, following a pick-6, Boise St. looked sure to win, with all the momentum and a 3 score lead. Then OU comes ROARING back, capping their comeback with a spectacular drive the length of the field spanning just 1:14 and an pick-6 on the very next play from scrimmage. Watching this game, at that point, no one thought Boise St. had a chance.
Often overlooked are the plays that got Boise St. to the situation where the famous statue of liberty was executed. They had :54 to go 78 yards, No chance. But then a 36 yard pass! They have a chance! Sack, game over. 2 incomplete passes, :18 left, 4th and 18 at the 50, game over. The hook and lateral was in and of itself one of the best plays in CF history, partly because it WASN'T a traditional hail mary. No one had seen that before. Overtime. Future HOF RB Adrian Peterson scores on the first play of overtime. Boise St. has no chance, they can't stop OU. 4th and 2 from the 6, they go wildcat, WHAT ARE THEY THINKING? they dial up a HB pass, which was very well defended by the way, and CONVERT! Then, Chris Peterson, the undefeated 1st year coach GOES FOR 2! And with what? Another play no one ever calls (except him against Idaho), perfectly executed for the WIN! And then to make the ending even more Hollywood, Ian Johnson runs right over and proposes to his GF on national TV. Name a better game.
As an NIU Huskies fan, I watch this to dream. Maybe it's our turn.
So cool seeing All Day playing in this game
This game completely changed the landscape of the BCS. It just goes to show that an unknown school, at the time, like Boise State can outplay and beat a heavily favored and media covered team like Oklahoma. One of the greatest games I've ever watched, although the venue was the place of every patriots fans' nightmares including mine (SB 42).
This isn't the greatest game of all time, but it is without a doubt the greatest finish of all time. I'm an OU fan it's one of my all time favorite games. Absolutely incredible!
Thom Brennaman should be Fox's primary announcer over Jack Buck. Far better play-by-play guy.
This was the game that was the catalyst for a college football playoff. Had Boise State lost we might not have the change in college football beginning January 2015.
I am not a big Boise State fan, and I don't care either way about Oklahoma. However, this is definitely a top 5 game for me. You only need one of the many elements this game had to make up a legendary game. It had 1. A huge upset victory 2. A clutch hook and lateral on 4th and long with seconds on the clock 3. A hopeless come-from behind 4. Two pick sixes 5. A controversial bounce on a punt 6. A do or die statue of liberty play for the win 7. a capacity crowd in Glendale, AZ
Same with me. Seeing the little guys beat the giants is so awesome. It completely redefined our football program. Too bad you can only do something like this once:( Once you accomplish something like this, you are no longer the major underdogs.
You're probably right. I'm a Sooners fan but I liked this video. Even though my team came up on the wrong side, there's no denying this is one of the greatest college games ever played.
Sooners fans should know Stoops can't win a big bowl game anyway.
I LOVE how OU tried immediately to schedule a home & home w/ Boise the next season; Boise refused, twice. lol do not blame em. Hang on to this one game forever!!! LOL
thankyou for uploading this!!!!!!!!!!
I saw this game live when I was in 8th grade. My grandma said it was over but I told her its never over till its over..
Using a Statue of Liberty on a do or die play, that is ballsy. Great game. Incredible finish.
One of the greatest bowl games I ever saw live
Best Football Game I've ever seen. Love this game.
This is the 3rd greatest bowl game if all time behind Ohio state vs miama then #1 usc vs Texas
I look at this game in a completely different fashion today. It's disgusting how much Adrian Peterson craves victory. I'm a Vikings fan, and the few games he played in that season told me he had to be a Viking. Never did I think it would actually happen.
This is the best football game ive seen to this day.
And for you it has to be a triple pleasure that Boise State used three trick plays to bring down the Sooners. Seeing that WTF look on Coach Stoops face after those plays was a definite VISA moment. It was PRICELESS!!!!
What I love about the hook and lateral is that after the first pitch they had another waiting for ANOTHER lateral just incase that first one wouldnt get them the first down, brilliant.
This was the best game of football i have ever seen.
Best college football game I have ever saw.
as a Nebraska fan, i can say most people think the "Game of the Century" is the one between Oklahoma and Nebraska in 71. But i'll be honest, i think this tops it....
TY for uploading.
The best BCS game during the BCS era. It's right ahead of USC/Texas simply because BSU had no chance in the eyes of most. None. Then all the trick plays to win...just an incredible game.
Best game I've ever seen, by far.
OMG I landed randomly into this game. Amazing!
So awesome ! This was the first time I have watched the game since 07 and I loved it all over again ! Go Orange Go big Blue Fight Fight BSU !
Im sure enough time has passed that even oklahoma fans appereciate this game now. I dont see how anyone couldnt
