    One of the most amazing football games I ever watched. Probably most impressive about all of this is that Oklahoma's defense was pretty solid on all three plays: there were no major defensive gaffes that gave the Broncos a freebie. Boise State just executed all three plays perfectly in a super-high pressure situation.

    • @bradmyers5354
      @bradmyers5354 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They gave up a TD on 4th and 18. That’s a big gaffe. OU had opportunity after opportunity to but Boise away, but they gave up play after play when one stop seals the deal. Boise showed up, and OU thought they’d steamroll Boise only to get smacked in the mouth again and again.

    Absolutely eye-goggling. I was living on the west coast, came home to visit my family after New Year's we had a late dinner, came home, was watching this upstairs and trying to kill my screams. Unlike anything I have ever seen. Arguably the greatest college football game ever. Underdog goes all the way to the kitchen sink to take down a mighty, proud program that made no mistakes. It was everything any college football fan could hope for. And then Ian Johnson proposing marriage to his cheerleader girlfriend. My heart.

    • @richardjohnson1261
      @richardjohnson1261 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yeah, Ian's proposal, IMHO, was the best play of the game. The guy has a big game (100 rushing yds), scores the winning points, then runs over to propose to his girlfriend. How Americana is that? Only in Scholastic novels and, oh yeah... one night in 2007. Cheers

      +J Anthony that was a low scoring some what typical college game. This game played out like it was written for Hollywood. It's the greatest game Ive ever seen. underdog (put that on a t-shirt) goes up big.. the blue chip school fires back and takes the lead.. then cinderella pulls out 3 ridiculous plays that should never work (honestly, how often do any of those plays work that well?) and takes down the $5,000,000 coach. I have this argument all the time with my dad.. he still thinks the texas vs. usc game was the best college game.. I still feel that this game is.

    The greatest memory of this game for me was that Boise played straight up football until they needed to pull out the tricks. I was thinking the game would be strong football from OSU and trick plays all game from BSU to stay in it. But it was so awesome they they stayed with OSU playing real football. Then when it was time to say “screw these guys” they went to the fun plays and pulled it off. And the catch and pitch to me was the best play. They absolutely needed that one.

I was only watching it for "background noise" while I did something else, but it wasn't long before I couldn't take my eyes off the TV. In my high school days we ran the circus play regularly, 2-3 times per game. I remember in a state semi finals game we ran it on the first offensive play, I caught the pass flipped it to our HB going in the opposite direction and he ran 65 yards for the TD. We ran the same play on our very next possession except to the opposite side of the field and again 6 points. Set up the very next possession in the same formation except it was a normal crossing route, I caught the pass with a corner on my heals who could have easily made the tackle, but instead he dropped off and ran for the underneath guy thinking I would toss it. Safety tracked me but not before I got 35 yards lol

    When they say, "Shocked the World" is not meant to be literally the "WORLD". The world in the statement is meant for the football world, obviously American football.

    I’ve been a Boise State fan since 1999 because they played how they wanted. Didn’t matter who they played, down by 20, up by 20, if they wanted to run a trick play they did. If they wanted to try out a new scheme they did.
    Watching this game was pure BSU football. Many commentators said “they scraped the bottom of the barrel or really dug deep into their bag of tricks,” NO they didn’t. It was pure guts and glory BSU football that love the game, physical and mental!

      KingXcole gaming He meant dirty like when a pitcher throws a nasty late breaking slider for strike three.

    • @joewashu
      @joewashu 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +KingXcole gaming the block in the end zone, when highlighted here and slowed down, is awfully close to a High-Low - 91/TE goes low/cut block while the pulling OT/79 contacts the same defender high. I wouldn't throw a flag on it as a ref, because 79 is trying to get a block on the 2nd defender, but by the Letter of the Law, it is a High/Low Illegal Block
      When on blocker has a defender engaged low, another blocker cannot engage that same defender high -- Illegal Block at that point, whether intentional or incidental.
      I've seen it called for less. When I watched this live years ago I didn't even notice that High/Low, but the "Coachs Breakdown" presentation here, highlighting the TE and OT of Boise and their play, the High/Low is there.
      Would have been a VERY ticky-tacky call, and IMHO a good no-call and let the play stand. Bama was beat on the play

      you can only attempt a forward pass if you're behind the line of scrimmage but rugby style passes are allowed anywhere on the field. they're not attempted all that often because while an incomplete forward pass ends the play instantly, an incomplete lateral is considered a fumble that the other team can recover.
