    You only need the latest BIOS unless stated in the description section for each BIOS which in that case update to that BIOS first then to the latest.
    Also remember use a thumbdrive 16GB or smaller formatted in FAT32

    This reminds me of school: where the teacher can only go as fast as the slowest student. So I can't really complain about the speed, even if it's slow to me. But very thorough and easy to follow guides (I've followed this and the flash update version). Solid work, thank you.

    Thanks for the explanations...but, how can I save the bios file from the motherboard (which is functional for me - MB Asus B150M-C) with the extension ".bin" on my PC? is there any utility that solves this problem? in my uefi bios there is only the update procedure from the stick, with the ".cap" file from the Asus website (eg: B150M-C-SI-4002.CAP).. .the problem occurs when it is necessary to copy the .bin file to the MB chip (the chip is Winbond 25Q128FVIQ and is powered at 1.8 volts)..respect for you and your work.

I have the ASUS ROG MAXIMUS Z790 DARK HERO Motherboard and the BIOS was the original first in the series and when I updated to the latest version I could not BOOT with 4 Dims. If you have never updated the BIOS with an ASUS desktop system and the latest version is more than 10 upgrades to the most recent.
    Do you upgrade one at a time or just jump to the newest version?

      Windows should take care of most of the drivers in the rare occasion that they don't you can download the Intel assistant tool and download them that way if there is any and then remove that piece of software after you're done with it

    Can you specify why the USB stick should be 16 GB or smaller? I can't find anything on the Asus website other than and I quote: "Requirements Tool: Prepare a USB flash drive with a capacity of 1GB or more. *Requires a single sector USB flash drive in FAT16 / 32 MBR format."

    • @PlanetKryos
      @PlanetKryos  ปีที่แล้ว

      Well because smaller drivers are normally formatted in FAT or FAT32. This means older MBs and new MBs can read the file. With a larger thumbdrive it might be farmatted in NTFS then older MBs can't read the file or it is just not there. Just easier for new people to have less trouble updating it.

    • @moondark666
      @moondark666 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PlanetKryos i see where you comming from, however either way I read it on Asus website or from your last response, the essence is the format and not the size of thumbdrive. I have a 32gb thumbdrive formated as FAT32 which i want to use for a new mobo. Should i be concerned?

    I followed your entire video to upgrade my ASUS PRIME Z790-P D4 motherboard. I bought a new 16Gb USB stick and formatted it as you suggested. I entered the bios, located in the pen the file for the update to version 1645 and came to the "EzFlash - Do you want to read this file?" page. --- I clicked yes and the mouse pointer is frozen like in your video. The progress bar is not visible, I started the upgrade at 9.37pm and moved away from the computer as you suggest. It is now 10.07 pm and the screen has not changed at all. In my opinion the system has frozen and I'm afraid to turn off the PC! Hope you read the message soon, thanks in advance for your help.

    • @PlanetKryos
