It's super-easy to get lost in data, but asking questions of yourself daily and checking in on things important to you are crucial to living a solid existence. Keep it up :)
The amount of data available to each of us is absolutely unbelievable. Making sense of it comes down to knowing what to look for and having the right tools. Yes, this whole space is moving fast.
Too much data can lead to too much over thinking in my opinion but i get you . I think balance is key to this message too William. Just my opinion. Excellent talk btw
thank you. yes, absolutely! balance is the key to most everything. the starting point requires understanding where we are, but then it comes down to reaching a steady state of....balance.
this was super interesting to me. each of us has to think through how our personal expectations of the world intersect with the reality around us. mismatches there can cause these sorts of subconscious disconnects.
ha! they definitely have their limitations, but if you have an experienced operator, then it can be an impressive experience. the most difficult part of the whole activity is developing the objectively stated yes/no questions.
I am not sure about it being bad, but it can definitely be scary and unsettling. leaning into the discomfort delivers a lot of understanding of self and will lead to improved decision making
there's a bit of that everywhere. another thing is that we have to pay attention to how things are being measured. not every device out there is measuring things the same way.
this is a thing isn't it? sad, but often true. some of my European colleagues have shared that the "ask without wanting to hear" is more an American thing. Particularly, I was advised to be ready to listen if I were to ask in France.
with the systems I am building, your data belongs to you. you have sovereignty over it and can decide what to do with it. companies shouldn't own people's data -- period.
Self tracking I think is a very important thing and William gets that point across very well.
I have learned so much about myself by starting the exploration with self-tracking and then diving deeper.
Accountability and taking ownership for one’s self ! Love this
so many people talk about it, but it is very hard to do. definitely something that takes discipline and determination.
Cutting edge talk Mr Bill Welser
Thank you so much. I really enjoyed being able to share my journey and experiences.
Love how William starts his talk!
The start is always tricky for me whether it's a talk, or just a conversation. lol
Williams talk is my favourite type of talk good job.
awesome!!! thank you for taking the time to watch it. appreciate you.
Love how William just gets straight into the talk.
Thank you! Getting to the point quick and then explore and explain :)
Williams humour throughout his talk was a nice touch.
too many serious topics are broached without involving some lighthearted humor. I'm pleased you appreciated it.
I’ve been collecting and analysing information on myself for years ! Continuous improvements
Awesome! continuous improvement is the name of the game.
Thanks for a great talk William. !
Love the story telling and tips William!!!!!
You're welcome. I hope that some of it comes in useful.
Loved the humour William used throughout his talk even though hes still having a very intellectual point on the topic hes passionate about.
Humor must be present, IMO, when tackling vulnerable and complicated topics. Glad you enjoyed that approach.
I’m glad i’m not the only one hugely data driven !!!
I find that as long as I don't just get lost in the data for the sake of data, that there are some very cool conclusions we can draw about ourselves.
Never heard of ‘self tracking ‘ before , i have now !
Loved William sharing his engineering brain with us.
Yay! Engineers are fun :)
Habits and routines all the way , consistency is key folks
yes, yes, and yes. exactly correct!
Love how William keeps your attention from the start very well done talk.
Thank you for the praise. I had a great time delivering this talk.
William telling us he has 3 kids and a wife makes him very relatable and i felt i could really understand what he was saying even better.
I'm happy that you found it relatable. Everything I do is inspired by wanting to make the world better for my kids.
Super confident speaker

Thank you for praise and applause :)
Wonderful talk Bill ! You should be very proud of your work.
Thank you very much :)
Self reflection is super important. Not many have the courage to be honest though with themselves . You do
I appreciate that sentiment. Vulnerability is difficult, but worthwhile.
Should be proud of this talk it was a pleasure to listen to.
Thank you. I need to listen to it -- lol. I have a terrible habit of not wanting to hear myself.
The statistics throughout this talk really grabbed my attention.
That's awesome! Some of those stats were very sobering for me.
We are creatures of habit in many ways. Thought provoking talk.
Yes, we are indeed. exploring our habits and patterns help us make positive changes.
Amazing talk William had me from start to finish bravo.
Yay! Thank you very much for the kind words.
I have been examining. myself for years and i have always been accused of over thinking William . Appreciate you and this talk very much
It's super-easy to get lost in data, but asking questions of yourself daily and checking in on things important to you are crucial to living a solid existence. Keep it up :)
Grateful for this one !
Well done William. Great share
thank you so much. it was fun to talk about something so close to my heart.

Thank you, thank you. very much appreciate the praise.
Great presentation on a fast evolving topic !
The amount of data available to each of us is absolutely unbelievable. Making sense of it comes down to knowing what to look for and having the right tools. Yes, this whole space is moving fast.
Empowering and inspiring
Love it! I'm glad it struck you in those ways.
Very well delivered speech , great tedx
Thank you. This particular TEDx was curated and run so well. It was an honor to be involved.
Totally agree there are measurables that we can identify and take action on. For sure 👍
there is so much data around and available to us. its all about making sense of it by placing it into context.
Great talk Mr W !!
Boom! thanks for the words of encouragement.
Very well spoken talk.
grateful for your praise. thank you :)
The data and stats will uses throughout this talk and the examples was a great way to get his knowledge into our brains I feel I took a lot from this.
fantastic! I am so glad it was an effective delivery.
Excellent stuff William
thank you. I tried to make it as accessible as possible.
Appreciate this talk !
What a wonderful talk !
Thank you so much. I really appreciate your comment.
Excellent talk !
Thank you. Such an important topic to me and I was happy to be able to share it.
Useful tips and i’ve already implemented and seeing results
That's amazing news! congratulations and keep it up :)
Was interesting to see William bring up a phrase we hear everyday but we all answer it basically the same.
It's staggering to me how automatic we are with the answers -- sometimes it's scary :)
Love your message on AI
AI is easily one of the most misunderstood topics out there and it has been for decades. I glad you found my messaging helpful.
I’m fine - i hear this 100 times per day !
seriously!!! sadly, it's like an automated response.
Fantastic share and listen.
thank you for spending some time listening to my message. love it!
I personally could not live like this Mr Wesler, we aren’t robots
I completely understand. Our context is what makes us human.
Great talk Bill
Thank you :)
Love the way william carries himself great talk.
Grateful for the praise. it was fun delivering this one.
Showed this talk to my friends and they loved it.
super-psyched to read this. thank you for passing it along.
Wish i could be a part of these cool ways to collect data.
Informative talk Bill !!!!
Rad! Thank you for the feedback.
👏Amazing!
Thank you. Really enjoyed sharing this journey.
Wish more ted talks were like this.
Appreciate the praise. speaking with passion from the heart is always the best approach (for me)
Brilliant speaker :)
very kind of you. I appreciate the praise.
Well done !
Thank you so very much :)
Loved this talk a bunch!!
awesome! so glad to hear it. thank you.
so bizarre how he passed the exam but he got some of the questions wrong because thats how he genuinely felt or convinced himself.
this surprised me and still does. it's amazing how powerful our minds are to interpret the world as we want to see it.
Very inspirational
awesome! thank you.
Congratulations 🙌
thank you :)
Cool to see how you can even subconsciously convince yourself that you are something you aren't.
this was super interesting to me. each of us has to think through how our personal expectations of the world intersect with the reality around us. mismatches there can cause these sorts of subconscious disconnects.
Love data nerd talks !
yay! data is rad!!!
Self tracking is another word for accountability for me anyway
yep. me too :)
great talk
appreciate you.
Williams 8 week trial was very interesting.
it was quite an enlightening two months :)
Congratulations
I appreciate the praise :)
I think id defo get along with Williams colleagues.
I work with a fantastic group of people! so inspired by them.
I struggle to make sense of this world !!
the world can definitely be confusing. being present and honest with myself is one way I make sense of it.
❤
appreciate you.
Cool bit of data to see how when you go to the gym effects your mood.
this was so cool to learn about myself. the fact that it is objectively in my data is wild!
🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
Thank you :). much appreciated.
As a nerd william i loved your talk.
Yay! thank you. I get jazzed about data with a purpose.
💯
thanks for the feedback :)
i love these talks about data.
boom! love this :)
👏👏👏👏👏👏
right on! thanks.
Congrats
yay! thank you.
Doing the polygraph to see if he knew himself when he actually did not.
this was pretty wacky and surprising to me. it was an unexpected turn of events for sure, but we learned so much from it.
Do you believe those polygraph things work ???? Because if they do i’m buying one for my other half . I’ve questions !
ha! they definitely have their limitations, but if you have an experienced operator, then it can be an impressive experience. the most difficult part of the whole activity is developing the objectively stated yes/no questions.
Scary that we can struggle to even know ourselves.
It is scary indeed. we have to stay rooted and connected to ourselves in this crazy world of misdirection and distractions.
Always been a sucker for data.
yep. data is super-fun if it is properly cast with context. having the 'why' of the 'what' is so valuable, and necessary
William is just like me.
that's fun. how so? are you also collecting data on yourself? would love to hear more.
Cant stop watching this video and i dont even know whats happening.
I just keep rereading this comment because it makes me laugh each time. Thank you :)
I think knowing your own data and becoming conscious of some things you do can be bad.
I am not sure about it being bad, but it can definitely be scary and unsettling. leaning into the discomfort delivers a lot of understanding of self and will lead to improved decision making
If you can’t measure it - your in trouble
there's a bit of that everywhere. another thing is that we have to pay attention to how things are being measured. not every device out there is measuring things the same way.
William reminds me of how i am with experiments.
very cool. what's the most exciting experiment you have run lately?
How are you William ?
exhausted. always. but driven.
1 million data points on yourself ?? Wow 😯
Was shared this by a friend now i know hes nerd.
Ha! my kind of human. Hope you found it interesting as well.
Williams data was very very interesting.
thank you. I'm psyched that you found it so.
i would also have negative mood.
ugh. I always wondered about myself and the mornings. we just haven't ever gotten along with one another. lol
Not another talk , dear me
I know. there are a lot of talks out in the ether. thank you for spending some time with mine.
No one really asks to actually listen
this is a thing isn't it? sad, but often true. some of my European colleagues have shared that the "ask without wanting to hear" is more an American thing. Particularly, I was advised to be ready to listen if I were to ask in France.
An ad for AI. What happens to your data after you put it in to the machine?
with the systems I am building, your data belongs to you. you have sovereignty over it and can decide what to do with it. companies shouldn't own people's data -- period.
Another data talk
yep, but this isn't data for data's sake. it's using data are the entry point for developing a deeper understanding of self.
These nerdy talks will be the death of me
well, I hope not :) thanks for spending a bit of time listening to my message.
Why there is no one in the comments it's fricken 40+m subs channel
noted
Hate these nerdy talks.
the topic definitely isn't for everyone. appreciate you trying it out though :)
Congratulations
Thank you very much. Appreciate it.
