I have this title tattooed on my body; "Don't Believe Everything You Think." It was the catalyst for a shift in my thinking and therefore my direction in life. Understanding this simple phrase pushed me to fight those nagging negative thoughts that crowded my mind to the point that all other thoughts were fleeting and fragile. This moment can be good, this day can be good, you can make progress, you can find the answers, you can take that trip, you can move, you can change. Good luck, you got this!

Thanks Dalton 😊 I’m glad to hear you have positively made progress with your own thoughts. I am starting to do the same as I want, more than anything, not to limit my own experience of life as I have until now. Best wishes to you and thanks for sharing

“‘ What makes us so amazing as children is that we live in a world before ropes.
In a world before “what’s known”, when there is “what’s possible”.
In a world before “I can’t”, when there is “how could I?”.
In a world before falling and staying down, when we fall and get right up again-undeterred.
In a world in which nothing is holding us back from our full capacity.
I hope this is a seed for you, that gets you to question what you’ve previously accepted as true. That makes you more aware of your ropes, that helps you see they were always yours to break.
No matter who you are or where you are in this moment, there is a life that you can be living if you break your ropes.
You get there one new thought at a time. One new action at a time.
Until one day, you find yourself in a new reality.”
    Lauren Weinstein
    How beautyful is that?

Jesus is a human, he lives and dies.
      Mohammad is dead also.
But Allah - the god of the prophets Jesus and Mohammad - is alive and will never die.
      Read the Quraan.
They take their priests and their anchorites to be their lords in derogation of Allah, and (they take as their Lord) Christ the son of Mary; yet they were commanded to worship but One Allah. there is no god but He. Praise and glory to Him: (Far is He) from having the partners they associate (with Him). [31 At-Taubah]
Muhammad is no more than an apostle: many Were the apostle that passed away before him. If he died or were slain, will ye then Turn back on your heels? If any did turn back on his heels, not the least harm will he do to Allah. but Allah (on the other hand) will swiftly reward those who (serve Him) with gratitude. [144 Al-Imran]

One person walks into a bar and believes the teachings of Buddha, another walks into a bar and believes Jesus is the only way to be saved, another walks into a bar and believes in Allah alone. Each of the 3 is convinced their view is the right view. The video they watch on TV in the bar is about breaking the chains of limited thinking and ideas, yet the old ropes still chain them into separateness when there's only one, not three, and the ropes are imagined.

Wish I heard this speech before, but A good friend has been trying to tell me that my beliefs are what’s holding me back. I’ve been deny it and so have been sabotaging myself. I guess maybe I’m ready to accept it and break free. It’s not easy to break through a lifetime of conditioning and imposed beliefs. 😞

But I’m older now, I can be better at making by friends, forming deep connections and stop telling my self I can’t.

This is powerfully true, our childhood remains within us, and we are told to stop being that fearless person and do as society tells you is 'right', and lose who you are...this is great! I am an undergraduate in Psychology, and I am slowly becoming the fearless, fun, and the daring girl I once was--trying to remove all the trauma and bad thoughts that follow me daily throughout my life.

Timothy Ramsey The idea of lack iz absolute illusion. There iz no evidence whatsoever to support yet people still look at life through a filter of lack and limitation that develops an impoverished mindset. A lack of evidence iz not evidence for lack.
Time iz also an illusion we socially agree upon and therefore created something of value that doesn’t actually exist. If you even think you have time you likely experience a lot more psychological suffering than you are even aware of and the stress, frustration, and limitations you experience that are thoughts that revolve around the illusion of time. You don’t have to watch any video, you choose to. So do you realize by looking at the play time on a video doesn’t make much sense, you can stop watching whenever you want and come back to it later or choose to never finish watching it. You’re not limited in any sense and the only limitations and lack you ever experience iz of your very own making. You are just as capable of choosing to experience the reality of infinite abundance.

This book is really easy to read with very approachable language. But there is so so much more than that and it truly grabs your attention. Honestly, I wasn’t too compelled to try out the exercise at first but once I actually did try I was just amazed by the results. I guess it really depends on whether you put what you’ve read into action or not - and of course I DEFINITELY suggest you to. I did as the author told me to do and kept a journal for about a week and I saw real change. I’ve always identified myself as an introvert and this book allowed me to realize that I really don’t have to push myself to become more extroverted. I feel like I am dealing with my existing as well as new relationships much better. A MASSIVE THANK YOU to Anderson.

That description of what happened to that little elephant brought tears to my eyes…this is my older’s sister story and to some extent, mine. Life’s uncertainties, difficulties and disappointments tied a lot of what we were when we were small..our family went through a LOT when we were growing up and we lacked resilience to deal with it ….

James Arthur wrote a beautiful song called ''You'' with the lyrics that say: You were in the wilderness, looking for your own purpose, and you became a butterfly, I knew you always would. Cause they would throwing the sticks and stones, but words can never break your bones, you just spread your wings and fly, I knew you always would, there's nothing wrong with being YOU. Such a powerful speech!

Lauren, thank you for this excellent presentation! It really speaks to me. I grew up with a pretty severe stuttering handicap in which I feared stuttering, which lead me to be hesitant and withdrawn. It took me many years to overcome it, for the most part. Yet it still holds me back in some social situations. I love connecting with people and get the most satisfaction from authentic communication when I feel appreciated for what I bring to the conversation and to the relationship.
Your analogy of the young elephant being trained by the rope is a perfect description of how our thinking holds us back. You are indeed, an excellent communicator.

I’ve been on a Ted Talk marathon since December 17 2021, and this one hit me hard cause I feel just like that, and we don’t realize as a society how every little decision our parents make affects a child for their whole life and then they are just going through life listening to the judgy annoying protective ego and living with fear daily, instead of proving it wrong and saying “see? It wasn’t that bad”. I used to be afraid to have children cause i felt like we came to this world to suffer, but now i know i would be a great mother BECAUSE i would teach her about emotions, and people responding through their own fears, and if it’s too late for me to completely learn to ignore the voice, i would make damn sure my child learns.
EVERY LITTLE EMOTION and THOUGHT we have, is a learned reaction. 😯🤯

Thank you so much. I love this so much. I appreciate this because I have felt so many negative thoughts come to me and I truly believe they were circumstantial. I don’t do anything wrong and I still get discriminated against, beat up, scarred, etc. I’m a good person. I prove it time and time again but yet I feel I am treated horribly. But I believe in good. I’m a good person and I will spend the rest of my life proving it.

Powerfully true! The scar experiement is so mind-blowing. I knew our thoughts can have a significant impact on us, but just not know it would be so strong. Thinking of the relationships I have, no wonder they all fall into the same pattern. It's not because I continue to meet the same kind of people; it's because I wear the same headset. What are my scars rn? Not pretty enough, my English is not good enough, my writing is not good enough.......Actually no one has ever said this to me, and these are all just my self-talk, and perhaps, the scars that I think I'm wearing but in reality they are not on my face at all. I feel that what defines what a person is , is that person's actions. I feel that a person's beliefs are their boundaries in life and death. Belief is unimaginably influential and limiting. I feel that a person is the sum of what they are taught to be,with unpredictable free choice and will. Combined with their own experiences and choices with unpredictable influences of the times. What one is Taught is Critical. In my opinion.
