  • Valve Lash Adjustment For Honda B-series (Civic/Integra) "How To". In this video I show you the simple steps to achieve a nice quite rocker by adjusting the clearances between the rocker and the valve.. too much clearance and you get a loud ticking, where as too little clearance the valve might not fully close which would cause power loss and even possibly a bent valve and messed up piston.

    I'm a tractor trailer mechanic and diesel engines go threw many valve adjustments this is the first video on TH-cam I see someone doing a valve adjustment the correct way the feeler gauge has to go in between the valve and the rocker arm adjusting screw amazing job dude

    This is the right way. The rocker pads wear in: making grouves. Go between the adjuster and valve stem with a wiggle gives a real adjusment. Its a slow and tediouse way. i like a 3 time run through all valves

    Bro got it all wrong! 😂 suppose to go under the cam lobe with the feeler gauge!

  • @emanuelp3411
    @emanuelp3411 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    So what's the correct way to adjusting?; I seen people put their feeler gauge between the rocker and cam lobe. You put the feeler gauge on top of the valve.

    • @Nthefastlane
      @Nthefastlane  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Emanuel P Always on top of the valve, and under the rocker.

    • @odubbs11skalla
      @odubbs11skalla 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I'm confused, I put the feeler gauge in between the round side of the lobe and the rocker arm.... Is the feeler supposed to be in between the 10mm bolt?

    • @MyWolffy
      @MyWolffy 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Nthefastlane wrong

    • @Nthefastlane
      @Nthefastlane  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      To clear it up and be specific, you put the feeler gauge between the top of the pushrod "AKA" valve, and under the rocker arm.

    Please help, I just installed skunk 2 x pro valve spring and loss motion springs, with stage 1 camshaft. My problem is when I properly torque caps the cam is hard to turn and when it turn it falls on the lobe with a lot a pressure. Please help don't know what to do next

    • @Nthefastlane
      @Nthefastlane  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Sergio Flores When you're Torquing, the bolt isn't staying in the same position when you toreque the nut. It's tighting with the nut causing less clearance. Double check the clearance after troquing. Also make sure the crank is in the right position, if not,it could be the wrong clearance.

    • @sergioflores3020
      @sergioflores3020 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nthefastlane ok thank you, I'll check clearance.

    • @sergioflores3020
      @sergioflores3020 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dumb question, since I bought a aftermarket cam with bigger lobes, the manufactures clearance won't apply anymore correct?

  • @TheShangralaaaa17
    @TheShangralaaaa17 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Supposed to be under the cam lobe not on top the valve

    • @kent0955
      @kent0955 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I read the manual. So the video is wrong, isn't it?

    • @Nthefastlane
      @Nthefastlane  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Using the feeler gauge between the cam lobe and rocker arm, vs using the feeler gauge between the valve and rocker arm gives the same exact results. It's just easier to access between the rocker and valve. The space between the cam lobe and rocker arm is the same exact amount of space between the valve and rocker arm. It just comes down to preference. The results will be exactly the same. Both ways are acceptable.

    • @Nthefastlane
      @Nthefastlane  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The rocker arm is like a seesaw, up and down has the same amount of distance. The rocker arm touches the cam lobe, and the rocker arm also touches the valve. It just depends on which end you want to measure. But both ends measure exactly the same space.

    Why the hell you using a torque wrench?

  • @Vinnyfromlv

    I think your head gasket on the wrong way.

    • @Nthefastlane
      @Nthefastlane  ปีที่แล้ว

      It's on the correct way. B18c1 Tab hole to the cam gears, angle pointing towards exhaust. What makes you say that?

    • @Vinnyfromlv
      @Vinnyfromlv ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Nthefastlane that tab looked like it didn’t line up but I guess it’s different on b18c1 I have a LSVtec and I Dont have that tab so I assumed it was flipped. But I think I’m wrong from researching it online. I have a cometic 81.5 gasket maybe different design.

  • @evodingo3375
    @evodingo3375 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    This is not the right way to adjust your lash. You run the gauge under the cam lobe not the adjuster and also you don’t just turn the nut to tighten without holding the adjustment screw in place. This is all wrong!!!!

    • @Nthefastlane
      @Nthefastlane  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The rocker arm is one piece, whether you adjust it by the adjustment screw, or the lobe, it will be the same amount of gap on either end. Sometimes you have to hold the adjustment screw, but if you've done it enough times like I have, you know how much to back it off before you lock in the nut.
