That's a really cool idea you've come up with there Trev. - Think that I may get myself off to the big DIY store, and have a go at making some of those myself. Thanks for sharing your idea mate.
I'd also like to know more about your bubble wrap idea for feeders and waterers.

We put a floater island in a feeder of sugar water for the bees last fall. The styrofoam crumbled apart in the 1/3 sugar-water and lots of bees died.

Thanks Trev, that looks great. I wondered if you could cut the panels on an angle for at least two, if not all of the sides, before assembly? That would create a chamfer to locate all the components and stop them just sliding over each other.
I'm keen to see that information on the bubble wrap for feeders/waterers. I haven't seen that idea yet but it sounds excellent.

Sorry Trev, I think I haven't made myself clear. I was referring to what would become the top of the base/bottom of the box, and the top of the box/bottom of the feeder. That way when they were sat on each other they wouldn't tend to slide off each other. The Paradise boxes have a more sophisticated version of that, and by angling the bottom mate toward the outside even heavy and windblown rain isn't able to penetrate

Agreed, the same or similar profile would be difficult to mimic unless you wanted to rout it, but I thought just cutting it on an angle may be an easy alternative, albeit not quite as good. Hopefully my Paradise boxes arrive soon

Are you still liking these boxes?

Trev, very interesting. Was wondering if you have any problems with the bees sealing with propolis and it tearing the body when you try to open it. Of course if you did that might be a good spot to make an aluminum band around the top and bottom much like what you with the lip for the frames. I really like the concept of how light it looks. This has really inspired me to try this. Have been trying to think of lighter substitutes for the traditional wood bodies. Thanks for sharing.

Hah...yep. I went back and re-watched it. Guess that is what I get for watching videos too late at night. Thanks again for sharing this idea.

What glue did you use Trev?

Thanks Trev, I love the the poly as well but don't have the wood working skills you have. I take a slightly different approach and just enclose the corflute nuc's in a poly enclosure so I can slide them in and out as I need to. I was looking for some instant glue like contact adhesive that doesn't melt the foam just to make construction easier. Really appreciate your reply. Cheers

if that's not rigid Styrofoam won't the bees chew that up.
