Good video sir, I would make the openings 3/4" instead of 2 1/2". The reason for this is that generally speaking NUCS are weak hives, and the smaller you can make the opening, the easier it is for the small amount of bees inside a NUC to protect the entrance and the resources they have gathered inside the NUC. Besides that it matches the 3/4" opening on standard entrance reducers, and I think entrance reducers have a 3/4" opening for the exact reason i mentioned here.

The only issue I have with this design is that they are shorter then a regular bee box. Yes you save material and you don't have to dado the ends but it keeps you from really using them in there full potential.
The only problem with your lid modification is trying to pry that lid off after the bees glue it down. Maybe why we use inner covers with telescoping lids
The lid is longer than the box. That's what the plans called for, not sure why. It's not a problem, I always slide it forward to kind of overhang the opening.
I have read those concerns as well, but had seen lots of people using plywood and even osb which has much more glue, with no problems. I have been using them over a year with good results. Thanks for the comment!

Yes. Any exterior or marine plywood should work.
How do you make your rip fence for your table saw? And how do you keep it straight from one side without it going crooked?
I bought the fence with the saw from Grizzly. You should be able to adjust your fence to be able to tighten it enough to keep it from shifting on you.
Did you use primer on the boxes? The paint came out great on these boxes

I wouldn't go stacking half inch thick plywood boxes. If you plan on that then use 3/4 inch thick wood
