    I no longer take biotin and constantly use tight hair styles. I also don't use high heat hair appliances. My hair is starting to grow and look healthier!

      When I was 13 up too around 21 I used to wear my hair pulled right back and tight in a pony tail with lots of hairspray and I'm now in my 30s and on the right side of my hair it has all thinned out in a patch it is so depressing specially for a woman it's really hard 😢

      Same here! All of my doctors over the years have encouraged it. The doc in this video says biotin messes up your thyroid, but it doesn’t. It temporarily interferes with the testing instrument used to measure thyroid levels in the body, not your thyroid function. You can still get an accurate test done if you simply stop taking the biotin supplement several days to a couple weeks before the test is conducted.

    What the best treatment for woman hair loss please

  • @schoolwerk3744
    @schoolwerk3744 18 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

    Incorrect. Way too many doctors on the internet get this wrong. Biotin, including high doses, doesn’t alter the thyroid’s function. It does, however, temporarily interfere with the testing instrument that is used to measure its function. There’s a difference. If you need to have lab tests done while you’re taking a biotin supplement, simply stop taking it a week or so before your appointment to give it time to filter out of your system so that you can get an accurate reading. A quick Google search confirms this.
    The virtual fear mongering around biotin supplements has to stop. This supplement is the only thing that has kept my nails from peeling and sped up my hair growth over the past decade, and it’s a shame that a lot of people miss out on it because they don’t do their own research. All supplements are not created equal though, so just know that you may have to try a few before you find one that works for you. None of my doctors in real life have had a problem with it and they’ve all recommended it for hair loss.

    Thanks Doc, my dermatologist told me to keep taking Biotin when I mentioned my dry brittle nails that started getting ridges. I have been taking thyroid medicine for 42 yrs, for hypothyroidism. They never mentioned there being a conflict or that it could interfere. Doctors in Vancouver, WA do not have the patients best interests. So disappointed in this healthcare here. Thought they took an oath? 😮

    Thank you Doctor! I had heard biotin was unproven to prevent or cure hair loss but I didn’t know about it’s negative effect on the thyroid. I took it for a time (a year maybe) for my nails and seemed to work until it didn’t so I’m thinking it was the placebo effect(!).

    • @schoolwerk3744
      @schoolwerk3744 18 วันที่ผ่านมา

      He got this wrong. Biotin doesn’t impact your thyroid function. It does, however, skew the results of your thyroid test by interfering with the instrument used to measure your thyroid function. Way too many people, doctors included, get this wrong. Luckily, biotin does not have a long half-life, so you can still get an accurate measure of your thyroid function by simply omitting the supplement from your diet a few days-a week before your lab test.
      I’ve been taking it for years per my doctors’ recommendations and definitely works for my nails and hair. I’ve found that some brands work better than others, and even different batches from the same brand can work differently.
