It's so frustrating that there are so MANY things can cause afro textured hair to break off or fall out.

This video saved my hair! I didn't know that the itching, burning was connected to breaking. I certainly didn't know it was indicative to a disease that could lead to permanent hair loss. I'm coming at it with everything I can, from inside out and outside. Nutrition, massage, essential oils, lots of attention. It's been a month and my hair is only 1/4" long at the crown but, at least it's not bald so I know I have a chance. It's very thick but short.

    • @gretchen725
      @gretchen725 2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

That’s definitely a great sign that it’s growing thick

@Cindy99765 Sorry for that. I feel happy that I caught it in time. I did a lot of stuff. It's still shorter than the rest of my hair, but no bald and shiny.

Additionally its occurs when the body is inflamed. So I've got to change my diet too.

Great video! I got my diagnoses after a biopsy. I was relaxed at the time and he told me to go natural and stay away from tight braids/twists. That was about 10yrs ago and today, although I still have symptoms of CCCA, being natural has helped. My crown's condition is delicate...but texture strong. 😊

    • @barryjuice22

You said you got diagnosed which most black women don't know to do. Although she gave some good advice black women need to be diagnosed and may need medical treatment for the inflammation and itching and burning and stop the progression of the disease and prevent further hair loss. I've ccca and being treated; did you have any satisfying regrowth of hair I'm so hoping to get some of my hair back. I can't wear wigs so I cut all my hair to a brush cut but it's clearly very thin and embarrassing. And during your 10 yrs do you have flair ups. Thank you in advance for any advice.

This video has brought to light all of the negative issues I've been having with my hair for YEARS! Tender scalp at the crown, tight ponytails and high buns with bobby pins. My hair has always grown in an upside down "u". Sides grow for days but the center is a different story. I now realize it's because I've never truly cared for my crown. Thanks a million, I have so many notes 😊

Thanks so much 4 this video, I thought I was the only person on the planet w/this issue. I call that area 'my heritage' hair because all of a sudden it just changed. Became super coarse & resistant to moisture, combing, straightening or cooperating with any hairdo I tried. It was like nope I got my own thang...lol. My scalp became too tender to touch at all & the hair just started breaking so it was just a tiny wild fro in the top of my head. I looked a hot mess & I got depressed because I have very long, fine wavy hair everywhere else so it was very hard to hide. So I resorted to intense moisturizing, black castor oil & PRAYER!!! Wigs & ponytails were my life for 1 year to grow it back. It's still resistant & very sensitive to strain or stress, it will get super sore but at least it's not bald! Thanks for this post!!!

USDA Black Seed Oil applied to my scalp 3x weekly, added to my shampoo and leave in conditioner along with taking 1 tsp in the morning and 1 tsp before bed grew back the balding area at my crown and nape area that i suffered with for several years, and it stopped the soreness and irritation in those areas almost immediately after application!

I spend a lot of time driving and never closed the sunroof screen until I notice the hair in my crown area was more dry and frizzy than the rest of my hair. I assumed the sun beating directly down on top of my head must be making a difference. A few weeks ago I completely closed my sunroof & screen. Hope to see an improvement soon...

My hair is very fine and straighten out quickly without heat. But I have developed crown issues, but thanks to your research my hair is beginning to grow back.

People with this condition need to go to a dermatologist. This is areal disease that requires anti-inflammatory medication to reverse the condition. You really need to add that to your video. My experience with this was that changing my diet to avoid sugar (in all forms) the inflammation was reduced...relaxers, heat or anything that cause inflammation should also be avoided.

I'm ashamed to say, but last month I found myself cursing my hair out of frustration and wishing I had anything but 4C hair, even shamefully so, wishing it was that texture of a biracial because at least their hair can seemingly grow without much breakage.
I was so frustrated because of the anxiety of not knowing what to do with it before work.
It was not cooperating, kept shrinking to more than half it's length and just not coming out like the fluffy and long twist outs of TH-camrs.
I got over it and just moisturized it and put it in box braids. I moisturize daily and I hope I can figure something out when I take them out because my edges are looking sparse. But shame on me for even having those thoughts over just hair. Smh.

I had a similar experience and here's how I got the pain to stop: The crown of my head started burning/itching and the hair started thinning. My head would hurt so bad I thought I was dying. So I started getting acupuncture treatments and after the 1st treatment the pain was gone (I went back for 6 other treatments for different things). Its been 1 month since that first initial treatment and I still have no pain. My hair is starting to grow, so I would definitely recommend going to an acupuncturist.

But now I feel I need to find more balance and a simpler, less time consuming routine. My hair is growing so much, but I'm also getting thinning in temples and crown. Love my hair, glad I went natural, but I'm TIRED. Whew!! Lol.

i have something like a soft spot in the upper part of my crown, I haven't lost any hair from that area naturally, but it does get irritated and tender to touch almost like hot needles going through my brain, it doesn't happen often but it is a timely recovery for it to subside. I have had episodes in the past where i would pull hair out the scalp from that area as a means of relief, i know it sounds weird but to better explain its like going to the doctor to get a steroid shot, it hurts a lil but after a lil time you feel better. I have since coached myself to not do this as the last time i did, i had pull so much hair i was left with a bald spot a little larger than a quarter. I have yet to get a sound diagnose of what this is or what causes it but i have noticed the texture of he hair in this area is much coarser than the rest of my hair. Im in the process of going natural and it concerns me of what may happen in the future but i manages it by massaging gently and anti inflammatory from time to time and using essential oils in this area such as tea tree oils or anything stimulating.

where were you when i was experiencing this several years ago? lol
Till this very day I do not know what caused it. All i do remember is that it itched ALOT...then it was spreading. it was smooth for 6 months to a year, then when it grew, it would only grow an inch... then break off back to smooth patch... and spread. My theory is that around year 2 or 3 i was experimenting with washing my hair once a month. Then I would keep my hair in mini twists. Another theory is that i was working with hard water, also when Nap85 introduced me to Vitamin E oil, i played with it, but i think i used a bad batch or waited too long to use it, and that's when the itching went through the roof. The way i fixed this...after dealing with this for about...3 years was washing my hair frequently, doing scalp massage but on wash days... or heck, once a month, and no more mini twists. I did play with jumbo braids though, because it would catch the short hairs that I did grow easily. Also, i think this is the important one, no matter how serious the balding patches are, DONT STRESS. I diverted my attention to other things, and before I knew it my hairs in my old bald patches grew . Now it's about the length that I had when the rest of my hair was even before I started patching. Yes my fro is lop sided because the length of these patches haven't fully caught up yet, but it's so nice to know it's finally growing PS: in all of my 7 years I've been natural, I've used heat twice.
